Crystal Bay Yacht Club Beach Resort
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"Hotel itself is conveniently located just of the main road, so it is easy to find. it also located 10 mind motorbike drive from lamai. Hotel itself is amazing, everything from a quick check in, friendly staff and some if the best views. If you need to rent a motorbike you can contact front desk and they will give you price menu and have bikes delivered to hotel fast. We stayed at beach front villa and it was probably best spent money for accommodations in Thailand. Villa was spacious and extremely clean. Bathroom was clean and spacious as well, and the shower worked perfect. Villa we stayed at looks exactly like in the pictures. A small deck area in front of villa was amazing as you could lay down in one of the chairs and enjoy the view and few cold drinks. Beach around the hotel was clean and definitely not many people around. A restaurant within resort was absolutely amazing. Everything we tried from the menu was some of the best food I've had. Prices of the food are slightly on the higher side, but when you combine that with quality and the view you get, I think it's definitely worth it. Service we received in restaurant in my opinion is probably the best we had in Thailand. Next to restaurant is also a massage available, good quality and prices. There is so much more I could write about this, hotel but I will say it's definitely worth visiting and am sure I will be returning when in koh samui again."

Lamai Coconut Beach Resort

"After did for so many filtered of hotel, thanks god, this is the best selection of hotel. We enjoyed big pool and beach front hotel room. But the hotel is a bit inside from main road, you will need to walk out like 5-6 mins to access to main road. Therefore we rented a bike with hotel so that we able to drove to far to explored others areas than Lamai beach. We would like to suggested Lamai View Point. Must check it out if you happen to come Lamai. The massage service Infront of our hotel is superb, we had try massage and scrub. It is Just a few steps walked from hotel room to the beach & massage place. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. You can also rent water sport -like jetski with nearby company. We felt It is cheaper compare to Chaweng Beach. But for the environment surrounding we felt it will a little more quiet compare to Chaweng Beach. Definitely will stay this hotel again! "

Pattra Vill Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

"We extended our stay to a total 3 weeks. Our room ( Deluxe Room) was on the second floor and has very high ceilings, excellent air conditioning and a veranda that was large enough for two people to do yoga comfortably. The room was cleaned and prepared well every day. The pool here is SALT so very comfortable if you dont like chlorine. The pool is long enough to swim laps and still has a natural shape to fit in with the beautiful well kept gardens. The pool and garden provide a very relaxing hide away from the street which is only a few seconds away. The resort is separated from the main street of Lamai by a short drive way and a security desk so no trespassers like the beach resorts and its easy to forget the busy streets outside while in the hotel grounds. The feel here is much more relaxed than Lamai Beach and the water is flat which is nice if you dont like the waves at the Lamai beach. The Beach is only 3-5 mins walk !!! The pool area sun chairs dont feel over crowded like the beach resorts and the area feels very clean, new and well maintained. There is also a fitness room to exercise again with good air con - the Sauna and massage room is not opened yet... its there just not operating. There is so much food and massage starting only 30 seconds away on the street. The Hotel only serves breakfast but local food is so easy with so many local shops and market. As a couple we were very happy here.... there is many families visiting Lamai and many staying at this hotel enjoying the pool. The only concern for some people is the Deluxe rooms do get a bit of noise from town in the late night. It was no problem for us and we woke up early every morning to do Yoga on the veranda. If you have babies or are a light sleeper perhaps book the other rooms or villas. The families staying here seemed mostly very happy especially the kids!! . We would like to stay here for a few more months - maybe next holiday. My wife really liked the service here, the staff arranged rose p"

Pavilion Samui Villas & Resort (SHA Plus+)
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"Will stay again and would highly recommend this hotel. Walking along that area of Lamai beach The Pavilions looked the best kept and most inviting of the beach front resorts. We have a small 1 1/2yr old and had no problems with him in this resort. Except, they do not offer childs meals in the restaurants (not that I could see). Staff were very friendly and often took our boy away and entertained him whilst we could eat our meal. Food is expensive but very good quality. Our room was clean and modern but a bit small and we only used the plunge pool once: It was too cold never had a chance to be heated from the sun as it was surrounded by high walls. This hotel is a perfect size and well laid out facing onto a nice beach. Location is perfect too. Only minutes walk to the bars and other cheaper restaurants. Gym is small but adequate."

Sandalwood Luxury Villas (SHA Plus+)
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"We stayed as a group of three in the Jasmine Villa. We had two king size beds on two floors, a large bathroom and a big balcony with a stunning view on the island and ocean. The hotel consists of a few villas that are placed over the hill. I really liked the facilities. Everything is done with love for detail. The staff is very friendly and always assists, if you need help with anything. We booked our ferry and a scooter via the reception with no additional costs. The Villas are located between Chaweng and Lamai Beach on top of a hill. It is very exhausting to walk up the hill, but there is always a shuttle that will pick you up at any time from the bottom of the hill at the main road. Also there is a free shuttle to either Chaweng or Lamai Beach at certain times during the day. And the cars will bring you to the close-by beaches at any time during day. The only negative aspect about our stay was the breakfast. It was a very small buffet, that leaked of any variety."

"Nothing except praise. Everything was awesome and excellent. Eventhough the location is far frm main tourist spot in which car or bike renting is necessary, its is still one of the best hotel in lamai samui. Good place for couple or honeymooners to relax and chill in spending lovely time together. This amazing hotel is definitely recommended to anyone who travel to samui. "

Tropical Sea View Residence
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"We stayed at the Tropical Sea View Residence for one week in May and I have a feeling that we were among the first visitors. The reception for the hotel has not yet been built and there are still JCB's in the grounds which I am guessing will continue to be used until the placed is finished. That said, the rooms themselves were beautiful. They were really stylish, modern and a pleasure to stay in. Easily the nicest rooms I've stayed in in Lamai. The view over the ocean was nice, especially during the day and the outdoor Jacuzzi was another plus. The one thing that would put me off staying here again is the location. The hotel is set right at the top of a very steep hill (it's so steep our friend in a 4x4 refused to drive up it - he tried) so unless you are fit and active or an experienced motorcyclist this probably isn't in the best location for you. Walking up the hill took me (a pretty unfit 26 year old) around an hour in the 40+ heat and I had to keep stopping. I saw other guests having the same problem. So yeah - beautiful hotel but please keep the hill in mind if you are unfit or can't drive :)"

Banyan Tree Samui (SHA Plus+)
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"We arrived at about 2pm at Banyan Tree Samui and was immediately attended to by my Villa Host, Mr. Thep. As our rooms were not ready, we were ushered to the Lobby Lounge to wait. As we were ahead of check-in timing, we could only have the villa ready by 230pm. Our host introduced us to the resort and the dining options. Perhaps it was raining, hence he did not bring us around. He was also attentive to our needs from start till the end of our stay. Service was warm, yet not overwhelming. Unfortunately the Ocean Pool Villa had only a glimpse of the ocean. As we understood, Banyan Tree group is active in conservancy of nature and hence trees were not cut down just to give any villa a good view. We decided to pay for a room upgrade to the Sanctuary Pool Villa. The view is breathtaking (180 degree unblocked view over Lamai Bay), the best among all the resorts I have stayed in. Our host also arranged for some decoration, flower bath, a cake and wine to celebrate the wedding anniversary for me and my wife. Amenities in the room and in the resort was also excellent. Sufficient activities provided for me to stay in for the 3 nights I was there. I felt that food at the resort can improve. Apart from the Samui Fine Dining menu I had at Saffron restaurant, all other meals were just average."

Weekender Resort
Lamai,Lamai - View on map
"My wife and I stayed at the weekender for 4 nights in October 2012. The Weekender has many room types from very budget to upper class. We stayed in a Deluxe room. There are big, beautiful and clean. There is a large building at the back of the resort right near the road where the standard rooms are these were all getting a make over with a lot of building work going on at this block. The Deluxe rooms over look the pool area and the beach. There is 1 big pool and 2 smaller spa type pools below it. They are beautiful and over look the beach. As we visited in Low season they didnt have the full buffet breakfast every morning, we were able to order off a small list what we wanted. But breakfast was enough to start the day. The grounds and garden is very well kept and clean. The staff were very helpfull and Nide arranged our transfers to Koh Phangan and we were picked up at the hotel and taken straight to the pier for our boat all tickets etc all arranged and I could not have done it any cheaper myself so it saved me a lot of time. So well done Nide it all went really smooth. The hotel is in the perfect position in Lamai, there are so many shops and restaurants surrounding it that you never have to eat at the hotel if you dont want. There are night food stalls set up just a short walk from the hotel and they are amazing. The best and cheapest food we ate whilst in Samui. Make sure you eat there, you wont be let down. Lamai is nice and quite compared to Chaweng its perfect for a relaxing holiday.Would stay here again if in Lamai."

More about Lamai

Lamai is a beach community that sits south of Chaweng district. It’s a popular holiday destination on Koh Samui, with a range of water sport facilities, restaurants and shops. Accommodation in Lamai features several four-star resorts with comfortable rooms and great service.

This area tends to attract more mature travelers, while the younger party crowd stays at Chaweng Beach. Most of the facilities are mid-range, though there’s been a recent trend toward luxury. Upmarket hotels and fine-dining restaurants are today much more common than they were even five years ago.

The white-sand beach is crescent-shaped and fringed by coconut palms. The resorts here provide deck chairs for their guests and offer full service including drinks, snacks and any sundries. Beachside cafés put tables right on the sand after the heat of the day passes. Candlelight dinners are popular after sunset.

Some of the hotels in Lamai operate luxury spas, and it’s possible to book packages that include wellness treatments, yoga instruction, massage and meditation. The serene beach environment makes the experience even more rejuvenating.

While there are several outlying resorts in Lawai, most of the commercial offerings congregate at the center of the beach. Fashion boutiques and a few open-air markets are available by day, while international seafood restaurants and lounges take over in the evening.
