Khun Steve and Khun Sermsri are the best hosts. They make you feel really comfortable and at ease like you are on a family holiday. The food was delicious which was a great treat for us. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area!! Hope to see you soon !!! (Including spikey and coco <3) book this place NOW and u’ll never regret it :)) Ps. We forgot some stuffs at the accommodation (pair of socks and a wall socket charger for iphone). Would really be great if we got them back TT

Lanna Thai Villa is a beautiful Home Stay located in Thoeng District of Northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai Province. Owned and operated by gracious hosts Steve (native of Michigan, US) and Semsri (native of the Ban Salawat Village where Lanna Thai Villa is located). Steve, a somewhat native of this area himself (lived and worked in Thailand for close to 30 years) offers a variety of local tours covering the rural life of Northern Thai ethnic hill tribes of the area including a vast knowledge of their history and culture that cannot compare to any travel guide/resource around. And throw in a great sense of humor to make him a true one of a kind! Sermsri, is a wonderful cook that offers some of the best authentic Northern region Thai food you will ever eat. They offer the total package of family like hospitality, accommodation and cultural experience. Anyone contemplating a visit to the Chiang Rai area must book their stay to Lanna Thai Villa Home Stay–we promise you will not regret it!

Sermsri and Steve have created a wonderful home of outstanding artwork and cultural treasures. They are hosts like I have never experienced before: they make you feel like a welcome friend rather than just a guest. They offer a perfect balance of warm and very kind attention and respect of privacy. They are very flexible, always open to any request, and Steve is always happy to share his vast local and cultural knowledge. And then the food: Thai cuisine at its best!!! Unfortunately we had only one night. Make sure you have more!!!

Discovering untouched Northern Thailand”
Keen Asia travellers, exploring the North of Thailand by motorbike (Honda 250), our itinerary brought us to Toeng, near Chiang Rai, for a 2-night stay. Little did we know how much we'd come to appreciate the hospitality of Steve and his wife Semsri, who cooked us delicious original Thai dinners which we could enjoy in the home-like private setting of Thai Lanna Villa homestay. It truly felt like staying with longtime friends, who shared also valuable information about their organised small group travels in Nepal, Burma, Laos and Cambodia, and Thailand of course. The swimming pool is long enough for some real swimming, not a plunge pool, and impeccably clean. The rooms are splendid, immaculately clean, and with everything one needs. Steve organised us a very professional massage, informed us about things to do in the surroundings of undiscovered Toeng, and cared for even the smallest wish. We highly recommend this excellent stylish homestay for any couple who like to travel off the beaten track, adventurous during daytime, spoilt by luxury in the evening and night. Most of all: very authentic, truly Thai life style, well-adapted to Western tourists, whether you travel by motorbike, bicycle or car. Very peaceful environment, but as active as you want it. For us one of the best central places to stay and explore northern Thailand. Their guest book tells why they deserve the highest ratings! Zero default, point. Steve and Semsri we'll be back!

Go, go, go to Lanna Thai Villa. The rooms are spacious, the food spectacular, the pool inviting, the tiny meditation shrine an unanticipated delight. More than that, Steve and Sermsri are the most incredible hosts. Go with Steve on some tours; he is worth every single Baht, and he is a thoughtful and knowledgeable interpreter of Thai culture and Buddhism for visitors. Take advantage of their knowledge of local services: massage, seamstress, luggage fixer, bus tickets, ATM, local markets, all of it. This is not for you if you need to be in the middle of hustle-bustle all the time. Lanna Thai Villa is a haven of peace in the middle of a small village on the edge of a midsize town. Steve will take you anyplace you want to go--but trust me, you should spend at least some of your blessed time here at rest. It's sublime.
