Pleasant; friendly staff and comfortable stay”
I am genuinely surprised to see so many negative reviews of Lanta new beach. From the moment I checked in, until I checked out the staff made the stay a pleasure. The rooms are simple, but that is all I needed. As for the lack of English, yes one staff member struggled at the restaurant. If you want to order something simply point to the menu, you will get what you want. Other than that all of the staff speak great English. This place is literally on the beach, take a few steps down from the restaurant and you are standing on Lanta's golden sand. It is paradise!
Very nice place and location”
We were many times on Koh Lanta already and we had just a short stay. Next time we will book here again as it has the perfect location, central and the rooms are very comfortable. We liked it a lot. The garden is lovely and the pool almost on the beach. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and afterwards we went for a walk on the beach. Not to forget the location delivers the perfect sunset with great cocktails. The rooms are very clean, we just had a few ants in the room but after we talked to the reception, they helped us to remove them as good as possible. As we know, you cannot prevent them for 100% so it was no big deal. Overall it was perfect. The reception was always helpful and friendly.
A little gem! ”
-Amazing location, right on the beach, 2 swimming pools to choose from, close to everything. -Koh Lanta is beautiful, stayed for 4 days and hired a scooter to hop around the island, which was hired by the guy next to the reception, he was very helpful and reasonable. -Staff very friendly and welcoming. - Restaurant on the beach and beautiful views. - Bed comfortable. -facilities were great especially for the cost! - we had a fan room, probably would advise to opt for air con as it gets very hot, but was an extra 150BHT per night. -There is a bar called the Sound Shack at the next resort, which is a lovely little spot. - Can’t fault this accommodation, definitely recommend.
This was a fantastic place to stay! Great restaurant and bar with beach view ”
And the staff was very friendly, making us feel welcome and helping booking trips and flight tickets. Very happy there and I will definitely go back if ever again in Koh Lanta!
Perfect, top-class beachfront resort at a very affordable price”
Large, very well-appointed room (practically an apartment) with our own fridge, a large balcony, and great views. Not one but TWO large, beautiful swimming pools (even more amazing than the photos.) Right on a beautiful beach with great swimming and snorkeling. Very decent restaurant (there are also others and a 7-11 nearby.) We went out of season (October) and got a really good deal. In season (Jan) you'll be paying more like what the property is worth. We'll go again next october for sure.
Lanta New Beach was an overall good place to stay. The only negatives I could say about it were the beds were uncomfortable, and restaurant was horrible. The pool was lovely, the view of sunsets were amazing, and the room had everything we needed. A good alternative to the hotel restaurant would be Danny’s Restaurant just down the alley. We would recommend walking down the alley to find food instead of trying the restaurant!
New Years on Lanta”
Spent a few nights here over New Years - Lanta is a big island so it’s hard to know where to stay. While this hotel was nice because it was on a beach, the beach isn’t really for swimming/relaxing. More to look at. Hotel has a restaurant but we ate next door as prices were more what we were looking for! Rent a bike from the hotel though, that was great! Bike definitely needed to get around the island.
Great hotel at an awesome location with friendly staff. ”
The hotel has a great location just next to the beach. You will find two swiming pools, a restaurant and a bar at the premises. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere with a friendly and helpful staff. Very much suited for families with kids. The restaurant offers a nice mix of western and thai food at affordable prices. This is our second stay here, and we really enjoyed it. We will come back again.
You can’t beat this place!”
When booking a room for around $20/night, you expect to stay in a hole, but this place was AWESOME. After traveling for a month and a half we got pretty used to being disappointed but this was a highlight. The rooms are nice and the a/c works really well. The bathrooms and showers were fine, and the facilities were worth way more than we paid. There are 3 swimming pools, and it’s all right on a beautiful beach with the best sunset. The chill lounge bar is very bohemian with really great drinks and smoothies. You can book all your tours through them, or just step off the property and rent scooters for $3/day, and get one of the best meals at a tiny little restaurant called “Danny’s” owned and operated by shirtless Danny who is friendly and generous. The food was amazing and super cheap (40 baht). We extended our trip 2 more nights because we enjoyed it so much. We are still talking about going back.
Simple standard in an OK and quiet place”
Lanta New Beach was an OK place to stay in. Having read all the negative reviews before I booked it I didn't have very high expectations. I wouldn't wanna say that it's THAT bad that some poeple described it, but I guess it depends on what you expect. First of all it is located below Long Beach in a very rocky location so the beach was very narrow and it was almost impossible getting in to the water when it was low-tide, however when it was high-tide you could easily go down for a dip. Pools were quite small but enough to cool you down and swim a little bit between sunbathing. The reception staff were not rude but not very service-minded either, facebooking, not looking up to help you straight away. The whole family lived in the reception and I got the bungalow opposite it so it was very loud 24/7, kids screaming, watching tv. Maybe this didn't affect the guests in the bungalows further away from the reception. The restaurant staff on the other hand were very friendly and happy, making conversation. The food selection was good, different set breakfasts or a la carte. Big variety of thai and western food which tasted great. The bedroom was OK, big and airy, a bit dark but clean when I got there. The bed was a bit hard but ok. The bathroom didn't look super fresh, the sink had a big crack, toilet leaked when flushing but still clean, good shower pressure and heater worked fine. Unfortunately they only cleaned the room once in the 8 days I stayed there. I think you had to tell the reception if you wanted it to get cleaned, but no one informed me about that, I saw the cleaning lady cleaning the other bungalows, so maybe because I had the cheapest room type this is how it worked. Overall I can recommend this hotel if you don't want to spend all your money on accommodation, and you're not depending on your accommodation for a good holiday. It is nothing fancy but enough if you just want a decent place to sleep in.
Better value out of season”
The first time we came here, in October, we paid $14 a night: the second, in January, we paid around $50. At the first price it's great value: at the second, not so much. Strong points are the great swimming pools, the large, well-designed rooms each with A/C, fridge, and large balcony, the friendly staff, and location on a long, beautiful, deserted, virtually private beach. The restaurant is in a beautiful location but the food is not that great value. The high-season free breakfast is not really worth getting, very factory-fast-food. There are better restaurants close by, as well as a 7-11 that sells most things you will need. There's quite good snorkeling from the beach: bring your gear.
Great daytime spot, extremely firm bed, access to food, scooter rentals and 7/11 outside Hotel ”
The pool, restaurant and beach access are wonderful. The view is great and the hotel is a fun hangout spot. You can rent motor scooters right next to the office for 200 baht per day. There is also a 7/11 at the end of the street which was very convenient. The one complaint I have is that the bed was incredibly firm and uncomfortable. I had to request 3 blankets and fold them 3 times to get just a little bit of cushion to sleep. The water pressure was very low, but it was fine for us. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but the mattress situation made sleeping tricky for me.
Love this place ”
Great place to stay!! Lovely location on the beach and a short walk away from bars and restaurants on the beach. Staff were great and rooms cleaned well! We booked to stay 1 night and ended up staying for 3!
There are better options in Koh Lanta”
In the course of one conversation at the Christmas Eve dinner we had with another couple while at Lanta New Beach, the vacation sheen immediately wore off. From the outside, everything looked great when we arrived - beach bungalows, pool (which is necessary in that part of Koh Lanta because people didn't go in the sea), restaurant, etc. But as soon as someone else mentioned the lazy and rude staff and the lack of cleanliness, I couldn't help but notice it...all the time. Right upon check-in, the girl that led us to our room looked thoroughly annoyed to be there. That should have been the first sign. From there it just got worse. We stayed for 4 days, and not once did anyone clean our rooms. There were ants everywhere, which is to be expected in Thailand, but the lack of cleaning didn't help. It's not so easy to excuse the rather large cockroach my husband had to kill with his shoe right in front of the TV. If we wanted toilet paper, we had to go get it ourselves. The first time I asked for TP, the lady at the counter just pointed to a shelf near the employee area with a look of "Well, did you think I was going to get it for you? Go get it yourself." The next time I needed some, there was none in the usual place, and it took asking 4 different people (one of whom never took his eyes away from his video game) to find me some. Once I locked myself out of the room and had to wake up the receptionist from her nap in the restaurant area to get a spare key. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. The staff seemed unnaturally lazy and rude compared with the rest of the people on the island. We booked this place last minute and didn't do much looking around because it was our Christmas holiday. But if you have the time to find something better, I highly recommend that you do!
lovely hotel service without smile ..”
Not the best location in koh lanta .. nobody give a smile in this hotel , in our room the toilets were really not good but the garden is beautiful , there a lot better different hotel in koh lanta , ... And it's impossible to swimm in the beach in lanta new beach only rocks ..
Great value for money. New bungalows with 2 swiming pools and the beach is just beyond the pool. You get ur own little bungalow with AC. Staff not so feiendly and always trying to get some more money of you. On agoda the room was 8£ but at the reception they wantted double. Also avoid using their transportation as they are v expensive. Cons. Location wise is quite far from the pier where all the action (tuk tuk about 200Rm) and restaurants choises are very limited.
Cozy little place right on the beach”
A nice small place, nothing too fancy, but well run and attentive to your needs. From the pool to the ocean is about 10 metres!!! A nice beach too. The bar is fun. The food is reasonable quality. And not too expensive. Best of all they served a Christmas dinner for all the guests, free of charge, as their Christmas thing. It's not the Hilton, but a collection of reasonable OK sized bungalows set in gardens behind the beach. It adjoins 4 other similar properties and you are free to wander into the others and use their facilities, bars, restaurants which gives you a bit of choice.
Good value for the money. Quiet hotel when I visited in October 2019. Good food at the restaurant with decent prices. Services such as motorbike rentals and bus tickets are available here. Staff were good but could have been more helpful. For example, when I asked when local food places closed around the area, they just replied "soon" and did not even mention their own restaurant at the back of the hotel was open until 10 pm. Overall I had a good experience and would recommend for the value.
Good location and staff”
Been here a few times and it's good value for money, great location. Not too busy and no loud parties. They're all up the beach so you can get a good night's sleep. Plenty of access to that if that's what you want. Taxis and motor bikes easily available. 7/11 at the end of the street.
A good size room that’s cool, clean and comfortable. walk down the beach and there are a number of bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here
