Best Location in Lanta”
This was our 1st time in Koh Lanta as we heard so much about the Island & Riviera resort and we had such a great time here, the friendly staff made it even better!! everything was perfect..food was really nice especially the Thai food we was here for 3 days and only ate outside once. The Room & swimming pool is nice and clean (cleaned daily) the pool surrounded with enough sunbeds for everybody, was all good & over value for the price we paid. Also you have the freedom bar based right next to the pool area which is ideal for when you want a drink. Freedom bar have happy hours and surely do give you a good night there with a free pool table, we almost stayed there late every night not just for the drinking but the staff which are very friendly. The beach is amazing would love to see how it is in the high season also with the sunset. We are travelling for 5 more months in Thailand and would more than likely be coming back here for a relaxed & good time before going back home.
i really enjoyed my time in this resort, as i walk in to the reception i get service with a smile and feel very welcomed. i was happy with my room and the price i paid as it was clean and standard bed as all i need for a good night sleep .the restaurant was good also with the service, food i enjoyed both european and thai, you can also have service from the restaurant sitting in the ‘freedom bar’ which made it even more relaxing especially during the sunset as i really enjoyed and did all the time i was there. the ‘freedom bar’ plays good music all day and night with a happy hour and free pool table as i was surprised not many places you can have that, the staff was also friendly and sociable people who can also enjoy your time with. i liked the presentation of everything in the resort and bar it all looked very nice, clean and good to look at. you can just take a step outside the resort and you’re on a beautiful sandy beach. the pool was also nice and clean to swim in. the resort rents out motorbikes for a cheap price if you wanted to go sightseeing around the island; i got good advice from the tour office and even people in the bar who speaks clearly good english. this place itself is not very busy but a good amount and mixed of people, as i liked a lot. it’s defiantly a good place to relax through all my travels. i also had a massage in the resort it was perfect and all i needed, priced good with a ocean view. i came in the low season which the weather wasn’t 100% but being in this place still made me happy and enjoy koh lanta. i have decided to come back here through my travels probably in the high season.
very chilled vibe and friendly staff”
our friends recommended this place to us and it didn't disappoint. we had a deluxe bungalow and it was lovely and big, cleaned everyday with fridge topped up with water. the breakfast was really good as well. the staff are very friendly, they took us to another beach they thought we would like and they came back to pick us up which was really nice of them as we didn't have to worry about getting back. we actually went to the same beach the next day as it was good for body boarding - I think it was klong doa which was 10 minutes in a tuk tuk. the restaurant on site does really good food we had dinner twice there. the beach is very beautiful and long lots of bars and restaurants along the way. the only thing I would say is the bigger bars take it in turns to host a beach party night - freedom bar attached to the resort had there's on a Tuesday and you could hear the Base in our room slightly but I did mange to sleep and I'm a terrible sleeper so just bare it in mind. we would definitely visit koh lanta again and stay here again as it did have a very chilled vibe which we wanted. the staff also sorted our ferry transfer back to phuket which was great.
Nice Resort, Less than optimal location”
Lanta Riviera Resort is at the south end of Pra Ae (Long Beach). This is not the best part of the beach. The morning tide is good for swimming but the low tide in evening pulls back the shoreline to reveal a rocky sea floor that is not swimmable. The drop off is very very gradual too so to get to deep water you have to travel out quite a way. Lanta Riviera compensates for this location by having a pool but you should consider location if you've come to Long Beach for the beach. The rooms are clean and quite large. The beds are nice. Bathrooms are basic with cold water only. I find neither cold water or lack of AC an issue when at the beach but individual tastes vary. There were no screens on the windows and no mosquito netting but I can't say mosquitos in the room were an issue. You do want a repellent when dining at the beach at night. Not much in the way of stores or restaurants on the main road so all meals were taken at the resort. The food was good but prices were inflated. This is to be expected at beach resorts. There is a convenience store just outside the resort where prices for water, chips, etc. was a bit better. Other amenities included a travel service and internet center but I didn't use either of these much. If you're at the beach for the beach itself I'd stay at a more central location on Long Beach. If you prefer a pool and beach combo at a reasonable cost then Lanta Riviera may fit the bill.
Pleasantly surprised - what a fantastic stay!”
We booked this place in a hurry and only later read the bad reviews. Needless to say we were concerned. But we truly fell in love with this place, beach and Freedom Bar. Freedom Bar just the coolest place. We had all our meals here. Food and service excellent. We booked 2 connecting rooms and were very happy with these. Swimming pool is big and clean and we found the staff very helpful! We are a family of 4 travelling for 3 weeks , island hopping. We stayed in 10 different hotels and Lanta Riviera was by far the best value for money!
This place was absolutely amazing to stay in. I booked connecting rooms and was given one room with four beds upon arrival. When I brought this up with the staff, they offered to upgrade to beachfront villas free of charge. The restaurant in the facility is great but the restaurant on the other side of freedom bar was even better. The pool is nice. The beach is awesome and the bars take turns doing fire shows at night. The front desk booked our snorkeling excursion which was awesome and also booked our transport to the airport when it was time to leave. They also provide bookings for motorbikes and will call you a taxi anytime. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There is also a massage place on site on the beach. The wifi worked great. This is a place you don't want to miss if you're visiting Koh Lanta
We loved our stay at the Lanta Riviera Resort...close to the beach, restaurants, and massages! The only thing that needed fixing was our bathroom sink faucet. We would definitely recommend the bungalow...great vist at a very reasonable rate.
Better than expected!”
I stayed at the Riviera for 7 nights. When I read the reviews, I was concerned about the resort but as the price for a solo personal was good I booked it. The restaurant staff are friendly you just have to bare in mind that English is not their first language. So conversation is limited. The girl and guy on reception however are very chatty and tell you what you need to know. So some comments I do agree with other reviews like the pool, great size but you do need to fish out the dead leaves your self. There is construction work going on around, the early morning noise can sometimes wake you other than that you don't notice it. Beach is a bit rocky but just swim around it or go further out. Freedom Bar is a great hang out. The restaurant has variety and was okay. I Got upgraded to standard bungalow close to the beach and quiet, I expected no air con as I booked a fan but had no fridge which was annoying. Other than these small things I had great time and I would stay again.
Good ole Riviera”
Anything called "Riviera" is going to be more expensive than its competitors. The Riviera Lanta was a nice bungalow based resort right on the beach. The pool was nice, the restaurant more expensive tan surrounding cafes, and the bar was hip, cool, but charged more for everything than all the other bars on the beach. I stayed in a nice bungalow with a twin bed the first three nights and could find no complaints. The super Deluxe they put me into the fourth night, D9, has t be their worst bungalow. first off their are sharp cactus trees on the corners of the path as you veer towards the porch, I got stuck the second time out and thought if drunk this cold be dangerous. The aircon in DJ is pathetic, there were holes in the walls and the water pressure in the tiny bathroom was miserable. Both the bum gun and shower were almost useless. And the way the bathroom s configured, with a long granite counter for the sink and then the toilet and shower behind a door that pins one in place...
Ok hotel on a lovely beach”
we very much enjoyed our stay at lanta riviera hotel. they are located on a beautiful beach with good swimming. the ground can be rocky in some places on the beach but for the most part, out front of lanta riviera has the best swimming. the room was fine and clean. it should be noted that the restaurant is muslim operated and therefore no pork products or alcohol are offered.
Nice resort apart from a few things.”
We had a nice stay at the Riviera. Only downside waa it was low season the weather was not so good. Also most places in the area were closed. One resraurant that really impressed us in the area was Klonhg Khong restaurant about 500m up the road opposite the Pavillion Resort it had the most amazing Thai food. Overalll the Riviera resort waa fine, quiet and clean. The food in the restaurant was good though not as good as the one I just mentioned. Staff were helpful. When leaving though the van that came to collect us was late. So if you are leaving and trying to get to the airport. Please remember nothing is usually on time in Thailand so make sure you try to leave earlier than you need to. If tou are looking for peace and quiet and want to relax I totally recommend this place.
definitely going back.”
We've been staying at Lanta Reviera most of our trips visit Koh Lanta. We liked " Freedom bar" which next to the beach , Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. Room was good never had problem while staying there. Only 1 thing i didn't like was the food in their restaurant other than that was great Definitely going back there again.
Nice hotel at Long Beach”
Although nothing special - Riviera is still a nice place that is quite popular as it is cheaper. It has a pool which might come handy as the sea on Lanta is quite "rocky" and swimming can by problematic (if not dangerous). Restaurant is OK - nothing too special by food is tasty and inexpensive.
nice situated hotel.”
stayed there for two nights.the hotel has a great location once it is situated at the middle of the island so you can access all the beaches without having to drive big distances.you will definitely need to rent a motorbike or a car.it has maybe one oof the best beaches at koh lanta and in comparison with the night life at the rest of the island here is where you re gonna get the best you can.it has a really nice restaurant next to it with a wonderful breakfast.the room was not a bungalow but a classical hotel room, spacious though and with hot water which was rare to find at the other islands.
Nice Bungalow very close to the beach”
The hotel was in a nice area of Koh Lanta. It is not too busy but close enougth to all the bars and resturants. The hotel has a nice bar and pool area.
A lovely, peaceful place right by the beach!”
After reading others comments about this place we almost didn't book it. I'm happy we did! We had the cheapest room and weren't expecting a lot but got really positively surprised when we saw the room! It was clean, roomy enough for two people and the bathroom was ok too. I don't know where the complaining customers have been but our room was totally ok! Restaurant by the beach was nice, a bit overpriced though. Staff was very friendly. But i'd advice to respect the fact that it's a place run by muslims, so please have deacent clothing on! Beach was really peaceful and clean and the sunsets were breathtaking! I'd really recommend this place for someone who's travelling on budget but doesn't wanna stay in the hustle and bustle by the pier of lanta.
Nice location and good value,”
A very plasent atmosphere ,good pool and restaurant. Nice bungalows but the maintanance could be improved. I was there in the low season for 8 days and the value was very good. Very good location right on the beach and lots of eating places and bars in the area.I would recomend Lanta Riviera resort to other mid range travellers.
Great lower end resort.”
A group of 9 of us(6 adults, 3 kids)stayed here for a week and we had a wonderful time. Some of the reviews here are a bit harsh. People need to understand it's SE Asia. If you want a bathroom door that closes properly, go and holiday in Switzerland. The standard of the rooms is exactly what I would expect for the price and I've travelled extensively around Asia. So the shower head might leak a little for example, big deal. Get over it. We found the restaurant excellent and the staff very helpful. They served up some great local dishes. But you need to order thai style otherwise you'll end up with something which is rather bland that has been spiced down for the western taste. The staff were brilliant with the kids and went out of their way to accommodate them. We all loved the restaurant and you need to understand that we were travelling with a thai and a guy who has lived in Thailand for a couple of years. So they know what's good and what's not. They said it's some of best food they've had in Thailand. I think if you have the wrong attitude your experience with the staff won't be the same. Treat them with respect and understand you're in SE Asia. It's Thai time remember, things might not go like clock work sometimes. The beach is great for swimming when the tide is up. When it's out it's a bit rocky but you're going to get that on an island surrounded by coral. The Freedom bar does fantastic cocktails and the staff there are a good laugh even if the pool table will offer even the best pool shark a challenge. Typical SE Asian beach pool table, after a few games you should know which way the table rolls. I would definitely recommend staying at the Riveria unless you're of a whinging disposition. But then you probably shouldn't even come to Thailand. Chill out, relax and enjoy it for what it is. Nothing is going to be perfect.
Decent stay, nice pool”
We booked this hotel because our friends were going to stay there. I must admit that I was quite scared and not looking forward to the first 3 nights of our trip after reading all the negative reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a standard room with AC and it was fine. It is true that this resort has a lot of potential if the staff just made more of an effort. They never cleaned our room and I had to ask for fresh towels each day. We actually didn't receive any towels upon arrival and had to request for them multiple times. After that I just brought the used ones to reception, trading in for fresh towels. But considering the low price, it wasn't that big of a deal. When we all booked this hotel on Agoda the address said Klong Dao Beach, which is the closest beach to Saladan. We chose this hotel due to its location. However, the Resort is located on Klong Klong Beach which is located in the middle of Koh Lanta. So this was a bit misleading. Klong Klong beach was actually very nice and swimmable. It is true that during low tide there are a lot of rocks but the resort has a pool, which is very nice. During our stay the pool was cleaned everyday and we spent most of our time there. The restaurant was okay, we ate there twice. There are many other restaurants along the beach to choose from. The Freedom Bar is one of the best bars we've been to in Thailand. Great atmosphere and creative drinks. We would recommend this place to someone who is on a budget and not looking for any luxury. Don't expect any service whatsoever. If you know what you are booking, then this place is fine. The pool and The Freedom Bar is what really makes this place.
Good location and nice atmosphere”
The Riviera was a nice little resort, especially after a fairly disappointing stay on Phi Phi. The resort is right on the beach and the restaurant offers a nice view of the sun going down over the water. It's also well-shaded, so you don't spend your entire meal dripping with sweat. The service was good, although getting a hold of a waiter at the restaurant was a bit of a hassle. The prices were quite reasonable, though.
Take a look at these facilities:
