great bungalow resort”
lawana is a great resort for all types the staff are friendly and helpful it is right on the beach whch is outside of the nain beaches so you can have a bit of peace. the rooms are very clean with all the ammenatities needed. free wi fi and cable with english speaking chanels.
Lovely, friendly little beachside resort”
We stayed here in February 2019 for five days as a family of three. It’s a small resort with small bungalows in a beautifully landscaped setting. They have a nice pool, simple but sufficient breakfast, and all the staff here are very friendly. The decor choice is a little older style (i.e. purple accents) but the rooms are all clean, the landscaping pretty, and location on the beach is great. Clientele mainly Dutch and german, with a few visitors from other parts. If you’re looking for a small, very reasonably priced resort on the beach and want a quieter location, this is the place for you. Tip: there is a great Thai spot to eat just by the family mart next to the resort - we ate there many times! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and visit again!
Great stay ”
We have stayed here three times, as a stop over before flying back to Bangkok. Clean accommodation, friendly staff, ok food, great cocktails during happy hour! Pool is a really good feature overlooking the beach and sea. Beach is clean Garden room is great value for a stop over but I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel for a longer stay! Good value
Nice place, fair price. ”
We enjoyed our stay at Lawana. The bungalows were a nice size. There were no bugs in our room but there was one gecko, which was probably the reason there were no bugs. There was one crazy noisy bird that woke us up every morning at 5am which was a definite annoyance. The pool was really clean and lovely but the chairs could use some upkeep. It would be nice if they placed chairs on the beach as well. The restaurant was overpriced and underwhelming but there are many options nearby. Short beach or road walk to Fisherman's Wharf (tourist strip) which has loads of restobars and shops. Moto rental, travel agent, ATM, Family Mart (7-11) and street eats right next door to hotel lobby.
Nice pool area just next to the restaurant and few steps to the sea. Rooms were just what we looked for, own bedroom for the kids ( age 5 and 7), clean and comfortable. There is a walking distance to the Fisherman's village where you can find lots of nice restaurants and shops and a playground for children.
Value for money”
Stayed here on a mini break (4 nights) on our trip from the UK to NZ. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything you needed was provided- even jandles! Shower water temp was a bit variable but this wasn't an issue as it was 30 degrees outside. Pool very clean, loungers of older design but perfectly functional and plenty of them. Loved the position right on the beach and a short walk to Fisherman's Walk that is a must. Good breakfast included, Consisted of bacon, sausage, a Thai dish, egg station, 4 fresh fruits, cereals, juices, toasts, croissants and one other hot dish that changed daily- a good start to the day. Friendly and helpful staff
Excelent property for value. Perfect R & R!”
Very nice. Pleasent, clean, friendly proprty. Only issue would be the need for security 24/7 on site as this is a multi-bungalow proporty. Outside access from beach or road too easy for non guests. There were no propblems, but was aware and alert. But woulf definatly return.
Amazing gardens and very friendly staff”
We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel in all aspects and found the staff in all departments from the the front desk to the gardeners as well as the management to be the friendliest we have encountered in our travels.
Stayed for 6 nights in January had a great time. We had a room by reception as was nothing fancy but location was amazing. Lovely pool and lovely beach about a 2 minute walk from room. Fishermans Village a 20 minute walk from hotel. Negative point is you can hear whats going on in next doors room. Always a happy hour at the bar.mmm.
Clean tidy rooms”
Stayed here for 7 nights and had a small room close to the road and further to the beach but didn't care because we had a moped to go out around island all day. For us it was great the beach was lovely also and the pool was clean.as we where out most of the time around the island it was a great place to come Back to at night
Friendly helpful staff”
we were travelling around thailand on our honeymoon and koh samui was our first stop. lovely grounds, very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. good selection of food available all day and the omelettes for breakfast were my favourite. only con to this resort were the flys. too many of them when trying to eat and spent most of the time shooing them away. would definitely go back and would certainly recommend it.
Lovely Hotel with a Great Garden ”
Lawana A very good place to relax, good value for money. Stayed first 3 days at the cheeper new rooms next to the reception ( marked with letters and no.) - they were comfortable, spacious, a bit of a walk to the sea and pool - but a lovely walk. The older and better part of the hotel is located in a garden-jungle, beautiful and full of great scents, trees and flowers. Their gardener should receive a prize of some sort. The cheeper rooms came with all that was needed- safe, kettle etc. The reason we moved to the higher priced rooms inside the jungle - marked with numbers only, is that they were so much better - much bigger, comfortable huge beds, secluded balconies inside that charming jungle and even a bathtub. The water were always warm in the upgraded ones, as opposed to the somewhat non decisive water in the cheeper ones. But each and every one of them is going to make a nice choice. We moved also because for some reason the stuff found it to be a good idea to put us in a room right in front of were they were building another new section. They started building at 9 am but it still bugged us a bit. The restaurant is relatively expensive and the food portions are kind of small. We tried twice the a-la-kard breakfast which was ok. Nothing to write home about. Lawana is 10 min walk from the tourist trap called "fishermen village" a place of no fishermen nor village, but expensive restaurants. We usually eat much better and much cheaper at the local restaurants on the ring road. Especially there was a nice place called Addy Siam. The beach itself is very calm and not busy, water are not crystal clear but the laid back atmosphere covers up for the tiny details of misperfection. Most definitely recommendable.
Great Bophut location, quaint affordable rooms”
Not as modern and sleek as some other hotels on Bophut, but totally clean, comfortable, and a friendly staff. You're not in Thailand to spend time in your room anyway! This was our second hotel on this beach. More of a cottage layout than a hotel, which was nice - no elevators/stairs to climb. The room was well appointed, with traditional decor (artwork, cushions, bed). Yes, there may be a few cracks in the concrete/tile pathway leading you to the beach area, but considering it was less than half the price of our other hotel, we stayed here much longer. Nice landscaping, giant plants and orchids everywhere. Usual conveniences eg. tour planner, computers, wifi. Small library for beach reading. Pool/patio area was not as luxurious as some other hotels, but we spent our time on the beach. Food was average, not a selling, but we ate in Fisherman's Village most of the time. Or on the beach from local corn on the cob vendors!
I stayed at two places on Samui and Lawana was by far the better (and cheaper) of the two. The bungalows are unique, clean, comfortable. The beach was pretty, they had free kayaks, and overall was very pleased with my stay. Only complaint is that the price they quoted me when I dropped in (while staying at another hotel) was 3x what I had seen on Agoda and what was advertised outside their resort. They told me the special deal rooms were all booked, but when I went back to check online, I was able to book it. The staff wasn't very welcoming and charged me far too much for breaking a cup that was in the room and which actually slashed my arm!
Fantastic! Book it!”
cannot say enough good things about this resort. located on a stretch of beach about 10 mins walk from fisherman's village. originally booked a standard room but upgraded on arrival when i saw the next best option. don't be put off by the front, which is currently a bit of a building site - the pool area and beach is lovely. you can sit on a lounger and over look the sea and eat dinner right on the beach. one criticism i would make is that the restaurant offers no real healthy snack food - a few options midday that weren't full meals with chips or burgers/pizzas would be great. and maybe they could have some chips and chocolate for poolside munchies!
Spacious well appointed bungalow”
We were upgraded on our arrival. We had stayed previously and were happy but when upgraded we were delighted - a lot more space, a well appointed bathroom with a bath and our own outdoor sitting area.
Delightful bungalows in garden setting”
This is a delightful place to stay - relaxing but with loads on offer - beachfront breakfasts, beachfront bar, beachfront massages, delightful garden setting and gentle Thai staff. There was a diverse range of ages and nationalities which was great.
Amazing hotel and better than I expected!”
This was my first trip to a South East Asian country and before I left I was constantly warned about various things, one of them being hotels. More specifically, I was warned that the actual hotel rooms will be quite different from the photos I see online and if the hotel looks like its too good to be true, then it probably is. Well I can say that the Lawana Resort was not what I expected - it was AMAZING compared to what I had in mind! From the moment my friend and I got off our taxi and entered the lobby, our fantastic stay at the Lawana Resort started. We were greeted by friendly staff and when we reached our room, I was simply stunned. The photos I saw online did not do any justice to the actual rooms - the rooms were so much more nicer than expected. Furthermore, even though I didn't specifically request for 2 separate beds when we needed them, the hotel was able to accommodate our request upon arrival. Once we settled in, my friend and I headed to the beach where we went for a swim, ordered a cocktail from the Lawana bar and sipped it by the beach, then topped it off with a beach front massage. Not only were the massages ridiculously good and relaxing, but they were incredibly affordable. I can keep on going on and on about how much I enjoyed my stay at the Lawana Resort so I will cut it short. Overall, I was very happy with my time at the Lawana Resort and if I ever do visit Koh Samui again, I will definitely be staying at the Lawana Resort!
Nice Colourful little Hotel”
