Great for Family”
Layang Layang is great for families, I booked a family room consist of 2 x queen size bed. No attached toilet but the common toilets are just a few steps from my room. There is a common rest area with chairs and tables to play board games, taking some snacks or even reading a book. This common area allows my kids to roam around rather than keeping themselves in the room. There is no television, I think it is good for the kids too. There is room on the upper floor, and when there are movement of people, the trumping sound of the footsteps could be heard clearly through the wooden floor slab. If you are a light sleeper, this could affect you. I suggest the owner lay a thick carpet along the corridor to soften the noise. The location is good, tit is next to Jonker Street, and a few minutes to Times Square, etc. Carpark are limited, I reached about 3pm and need to drive 3 to 4 round to get a nearby parking lot. Parking is free on Sat and Sun.
3 nights stay at Layang Layang”
The house itself is very pretty and it offers terrific value for this type of structure in Melaka. I had a private room looking on the street and honestly I was not disturbed by anyone or anything during the night, the street is very quiet both during the day and during the night. I can't talk about the soundproofing of the walls because I was one of the very few guests at Layang Layang when I was there and nobody else was staying close to my room. Unfortunately, there's no breakfast included but since the location is so central you can easily get a roti canai for 2 ringgit 200 m away, so that's not a big deal. The staff was well mannered and they showed me all the facilities when I came in but nobody was really helpful in giving me tips of things to do and restaurants where to go. Luckily we have Google, but it would have been nice to hear the preferences of a local. I still think that the place is great and I totally recommend it!
Value for money, nice guesthouse ”
The guesthouse has an excellent location, situated just next to Jonker street. However it does not have an on site parking, so travelers coming with a vehicle need to pay elsewhere, but nevertheless it was easy to find a parking as we reached relatively early. The guesthouse is nice and unique, with it preserved old architecture. It has wooden floor, but is kept clean. However the room is divided by wooden plank wall which makes sound proof almost to non existent. You can hear clearly when someone walk pass your door. The room has only a bed and a small table. It is ok for a short stay and value for the money we paid. Toilets and bathroom are clean. It has a small nice garden at ground floor which u can relax
Poor maintenance guest house ”
Pro: location is good Con: the foreigners staffs was not friendly at all. First, he’s showing us to the ground floor family room, the moment he open the door, the smell from the room is awful, mainly due to the moist from the walls, almost quarter of the wall painting has peel off. The room conditions is very bad. I request to switch room and the foreign staff are not happy with it. End up we picked upstair room which is much better than ground floor. But due to the wooden floor , you can hear the wooden sounds of every step that you stepped on the floor. Overall is rundown property. Just find somewhere nearby with the same range of price but better quality.
Best location with reasonable price.”
Best location, easy accessibilities and convenient!
Great location for visiting near by historical building and night market during weekend.
Clean room and good location”
It is shared bathroom for all type of rooms and the rooms are separated by partition so will able to hear the sound from street or loud sound from upper floor or neighbor. But overall is worth the money where it just one street to main Jonker street. No parking, if you have your own car can consider to park at Jonker Walk car park that is just 10 min walking distance with RM15 for overnight parking.
Unique guest house”
It's so near to the jonker street, just 3mins walking distance, lovely and unique interior design. Can't be more irritated with those loud footsteps walking outside my room early morning, poor soundproof. But loved the place overall
Just the toilets are a bit messy, water leaking constantly from the upper floor pipes (very unhygienic). Everything else is very nice. We will stay again very soon, provided they take care of the toilet plumbings.
we enjoyed the environment, staff was very friendly and helpful. If you need any help or assistance, they will guide you also. Thanks for let me know about the pickup location to melaka sentral. But we can't get toilet paper in toilet,hmmmmm........ They also have bicycle rental, you may ask them to rent if you want. From melaka sentral to their only using bus is enough.
cosy guest hse”
This is an excellent guest hse for group travellers. Rooms are big and clean. it's right in the heart of Jonker Walk. you can wash your laundry using an in-house washing machine. However, there is no dryer. There is also a pantry and coffee & tea bags are provided, complimentary for guests. I would highly recommend this place to my friends.
Good location ”
Everything is good!! Location is perfectly just behind the jonker street...If you are can't sleep well when you heard so some sound then you can request to stay upstairs because if you stay downstairs and when upstairs have somebody walk then your round will heard "King King Kong Kong" sound and "doom doom doom" sound...Sound proof have to improve...
A fantastic place in a stunning building”
We stayed here for a few nights and really enjoyed our stay. The building is around 200 years old and was renovated about 10 years back. The rooms are fairly spacious with air con, the shared showers were really clean as well. The guesthouse is located 1 street behind Jonkers Street, so is in an amazing location for sightseeing Melaka and the surrounding area. They have a cafe a few doors down (kaya kaya) that gives you 10% discount, so that is good! The staff were great and helped with a map and booking taxis. A lovely place, great value and worth staying at.
Good getaway with girlfriends”
It was a really fun experience staying over at Layang Layang. This is the first time I am staying at a Guest House. I have read through quite a number of review to ensure that Layang Layang is a OK-ish place and found that most of the review is quite good. Not disappointed at all, Me and my girl friend took the standard room since is only 1 night. Really basic room (Standard Room) with only 1 King Bed,Side Table and Aircon inside. Toilets and bathroom are combine and throughout my stay I dont have to wait for my turn. Layang Layang receptionist are really friendly by showing us around and explaining the facilities which are included. The only 1 thing we were not happy is that, we were wide awake at 9.00am when there is loud walking sound on the 1st floor and it lasted for hours. Later we realise that the sound was from the male housekeeping attendants. 1 advice, try to walk softly and definitely NOT like a Gorilla which is out for a food hunt. Beside that, It is really a fun place to stay.
Family bonding trip”
it was a pleasant stays, friendly staffs, clean room although bath room are common to all guest, they are adequate facility for all. Fridge and tea are provided for all to use, convenience for family with young children. close to world heritage street and location within walking distance. Room downstair are noisy as movement upstair can be heard loud and clear, might be good to carpet the floor upstair for sound reduction so as not to disturb other guest down. very convenience and pleasant stay for our family.
I really recommend Layang Layang Guest House due to their staff and strategic location. Their staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I forgot her name but she genuinely cared for us when our taxi hadn't come while it was near our bus schedule. She even looked as relieved as we were when the taxi came. Even their cleaning staff are nice and friendly. The location is superb as it is near the famous Red Square, Jonker Street and many eateries. The room is okay but you have to be prepared for squeaky floor if you stay on 2nd floor. No wonder as it is a renovated old building. They also provide sufficient bathrooms so you do not need to wait long for your turn. However, please do note that the bathrooms can be very warm due to their lack of ventilation.
great location just 1 minute walk from jonker street. the staff are so helpful, the bathrooms are sharing, but there are 8 bathroom and the bathroom have hot water, toilet and i love the bathroom floor.
Best Guest house in Jonker”
Superb stay at the guest house. Everything was great. Gives you a hotel yet homely feeling. 10/10 for the cleanliness of the rooms, toilet and pantry area. The guest house also provides water, coffee n tea and biscuits. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was made possible by Layang Layang guest house. Strongly recommend!!
Good location and clean”
It was comfortable and clean. Good location at Jonker. The structure of the building of an old heritage house is so beautifully refurbish. They provide towel, shampoo and bath gel. The staffs are friendly. Will definitely stay there again in the future.
