Geat resort with best location on the island”
we live in pattya and went to koh samet for a long weekend. this is wonderful resort. the staff was very friendly and the cottage and resort grounds were beautiful. we took the "taxi" over the rutted and bumpy roads to sai kiaew - definitely not worth the trip. ao prao is the nicest spot on the island by far. the cottage was lovely and well-maintained. huge glass-tiled shower. beautiful landscaping. it was also nice to have the restaurant at ao prao resort available. there was a fire show on the weekend that was quite good. food and drink prices are a bit high, but if that really worries you, you can eat at lima coco next door. all of the food we had at le vimarn was quite good, although we did not try the italian restaurant for dinner.
Resort rather than bungalows ”
I have stayed on Koh Samet more times that is sensible and I’ve stayed at all different levels of accommodation. The biggest difference between Le Vimarn and all the others is that this place is a real resort. Most of the little bungalows are just that! A bungalow and a small restaurant. Le Vimarn has it all – a spectacular infinity pool, lovely spa, great sun loungers on the beach and several restaurants to choose from. Obviously because you’re getting a LOT more here than at the other places, you’re going to pay for it! Le Vimarn is CONSIDERABLY more expensive than any other bungalow accommodation on Koh Samet. This hotel is also situated on the “other” side of the island, which can be annoying if you’re wanting to party until late or be around lots of people, as you’ll need to get a taxi at 200B each way. I think the best advice for this place is you need to evaluate what you want from your stay on Koh Samet. If you’re going with friends and want to party – then this is definitely not the place to stay. If you’re going with your partner and want something romantic – then you can’t do better! It is also great for families as it’s not as busy as the other side.

Perfect for rest and relaxation”
Le Vimarn is a beautiful resort with a great beach location. The rooms are luxurious, kept well and perfectly clean. The Spa Cottages have awe inspiring sea views with fantastic sunsets in the evening. The villa terrace (could be) perfect for a private sunset viewing or even a quiet and private sun tanning and chill out session but, unfortunately as beautiful as the terraces are they are not furnished for lounging. There are no sunbeds and no shade, which seems like a pretty major thing to miss out at a seaside resort. Especially, when they have invested in the view and plunge pools on the terrace! Nevertheless, I dragged an armchair from the room out there and it was perfect for reading a book in the evenings. It was just too hot to sit there in the day time with no shade. There are no beach front rooms that directly open onto the beach, like many other places have. They do have garden villas that face the beach but they don’t have sunbeds etc either on their terraces. However, Le Vimarn do have their own sunbeds on the beach reserved for guests only, which is great. No issues with getting a bed on any of the 5 days I was there. The food at the resort is ok. It’s presented well but the flavours lacked the Thai authenticity. It is also extremely expensive. Drinks and ice etc are charged for at a premium. I took advice of one of the other reviewers here and brought my own beers and snacks……great idea! I also had issues with getting to the resort. The Le Vimarn website does not list boat times, piers or even have a contact number.
Perfect for Romantic Getaway”
The location of this hotel is opposite the Rayong Resoirt and Spa Retreat, who organised our boat ride over to Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa. The convenience was perfect, on arrival the beaches were immediatly noticed to be perfect, which white fluffly sand and no trash/polution as can be seen on some other area's. The staff were fantastic, and very friendly - On leaving one fellow even gave a bundle of flowers to say goodbye. The restrants perfect, rooms awazing, and I loved the outdoor shower! (dont worry it's still private)
A tranquil gem”
this hotel provided great service from the first day. we were taken to the island by private speedboat, which takes about 10 minutes. we arrived a little early and waited in the air conditioned, comfortable waiting room. the staff immediately took care of our bags and we did not have to carry them again for the rest of our trip. we disembarked onto a beach is of fine, powerdery, golden sand and walked a few metres to reception. the staff greeted us with a welcome drink and had all our check in information prepared. the room was spacious and well equipped. staff would come in twice a day to check it, always ensuring that we were not in the room and would not be disturbed. the breakfast buffet was varied, fresh and generous. the gardens surrounding the houses made it feel very private and also provided a haven for birds, butteflies and lizards which we enjoyed seeing. it also meant the grounds smelled wonderful in the evening. the pool had a great view of the sea and was very clean with plenty of fresh towels and each table had a vase of flowers on it. we didn't spend too much time in the pool as the sea was so tempting but i enjoyed the time i did spend there. the beach is beautiful. it is clean and staff look after it well. the sea is shallow a long way out and the sea bed is soft, fine sand. you can see right down as the water was very clear. the resort does not have many rooms which made the beach feel calm and uncrowded. the only slight criticism i would make is that food and drink are very expensive. it is not easy to eat anywhere other than in the three resorts along the beach. this means they can charge high prices- the resort next door (lima coco) is a cheaper option. the food at le vimarn is good quality. i would definitely stay at le vimarn again. eveything about our stay was made easy by the excellent customer care. the resort and beach were lovely. it is easy to get to from bangkok.
Fantastic!”
We'd been before, the kids love this place, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. The service is really friendly and efficient, from the speed boat service to any requests you have for your room. The layout of the resort is beautiful - clean, comfortable rooms in a natural setting, the beach is right there and a nice pool overlooking the sea as well. Wonderfully relaxed and natural. Breakfast is a good start to the day - a very nice selection and great location with a view of the sea. The beach is perfect for kids - safe swimming and some snorkeling on the rocks at either side. Some trees for shade with loungers, towel service etc. Again, convenient but natural. You can hire canoes from just up the beach if you want to go snorkeling further out. There are just two other resorts on this beach so it never gets too crowded. The Italian restaurant at Le Vimarn has great pizza from the wood fired oven and some really delicious pasta dishes. There are also restaurants at the other two resorts to visit for a bit of variety. Reception can organize a taxi service to some of the other beaches on Ko Samet if you need a day or evening trip away but really this is the nicest beach on Ko Samet. All in all, what a wonderful place to relax, unwind and enjoy life with the family!
Best location, OK value”
We stayed 3 nights at Le Vimarn with friends and enjoyed it, despite the constant rain (rain season, it can happen, even in Samet). The beach is really nice and calm, the general quality of the hotel is just about perfect. In fact I would say that appart from the price we paid, which is far higher to what you would pay in most places in Thailand for similar hotel, everything about this hotel is just the way it should be. Maybe they should have switched the location of the restaurants, I dont know about you, but when I travel, I like to eat the local food, putting an italian restaurant O as the main reatsurant and a thai restaurant on the side is questionable, the quality of the thai restaurant is really good, but again the price is quite high
Fantastic hotel!”
Our stay at Le Vimarn was wonderful. The location on the secluded Ao Prao beach made it a tranquil and relaxing spot. The rooms were large with huge a bathroom/shower. The resort was splendidly cared for. The food was very good. The included speed boat transportation from the mainland to Koh Samet was also very nice. They have a fantastic pool overlooking the beach.
It really is a paradise! The resort sells itself”
The location and the resort sell itself. Nice beach, calmer than other beaches on Koh Samet. There are only 3 hotels on this beach (no more space to build!). Le Vimarn is the best one. Agree with previous comment, this is the only place where it is a proper hotel in terms of decoration, sun lounge etc. It is also on the best spot on this beach, wider beach front area and very well maintained property: clean beach front, nice garden etc. Breakfast was okay. Not outstanding but definitely enough to eat. Likes: 1. Spacious room, high ceiling. I like that it is a cottage, not a building. So it feels like home. The room is also only few steps from the beach. I also went to inspect jacuzzi villa and found that deluxe villas were actually in a better location and more charming. 2. Location: Nice and quiet beach, no beach vendors, the resort is by the beach 3. Proper sun bed 4. Speed boat service (500 Baht return, if u think it's a complimentary, actually it's already included in your room rate). No hassle to get to the island Dislikes: 1. Staff need to be more informative. I checked with them about the boat time (public boat, not the hotel service one), they literally said they had no idea. No offer to check what so ever. Really, for this type of hotel, I expect that they should be able to provide this information or at least shows eagerness to assist. 2. Bed sheet and duvet cover: should have been a better quality, duvet cover material is different from bed sheet and it's not very nice.
Great resort with nice beach and pool”
This is an upscale resort on Koh Samet and consequently the standard should be high to reflect the price level. We were not disappointed! The cottage was big, charming and had a big bath. The beach and surroundings were beautiful an peaceful, I would argue the best beach on Koh Samet (have also stayed at other beaches), particularly if you like a quite atmosphere. If you want to party, this is not the beach for you. The pool is also nice. The resort has two restaurants, one Thai and one Italian. The are both quite pricy, but the quality of food is good. There is also a cheaper alternative next to the resort, which serves good Thai food. If you book at this resort you get the boat and taxi trip included in the price- we didnt know this and took the ferry and taxi to the resort, so a tip is to ask the resort about this before you go.
Breathtaking beach and resort!”
We had a fabulous time at Vimarn Resort. The beach is beautiful and clean. The cottage was very spacious, exquisitely decorated and super comfortable. It had absolutely everything we could possibly need. The three restaurants at the resort offer a variety of choices. We ate at all three and loved every dish. Daily breakfast was delicious and abundant. We loved the spa and took advantage of a number of massages and facials. We can't say enough about the staff. Everyone there offers a genuine smile and a desire to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. A special note about Payab, who served at the restaurants and breakfast, while keeping an eye to the other staff, and our every wish. Thank you Vimarn!
Very well decorated and quiet spa villa”
If you want to relax just 2h30 from Bangkok, Koh Samet is the place to go. Ao Prao is the smallest but the best beach of the island. 10 minutes speed boat from the Rayong pier. Just make sure to aks for the speed boat schedules or else you might have to wait for one hour or pay an additional THB 2,000 for a private transfer to the hotel. The hotel is located on the right side of the beach, many small bungalows in a nice garden. Small but nice pool. Great service, good breakfast and restaurants. On the negative side, the massage and spa prices are way too expensive.
A great resort to relax and recharge”
While we love our stay at Le Vimarn Cottages and Spa and the majority of the staff were excellent. One area which can we improve was the front office/ staff at reception. We had a long wait for our check-in with additional payment for the National Park that we weren't aware of. The staff were not equipped to handle the situation we started our stay feeling quite negative. That said, we had a wonderful mini-break and would definitely like to go back.
Perfect stay in Paradise”
We felt at home, more than that... we were in paradise. the staff is great and attentive. Especially Rajab Eiamtuy was a perfect host during our breakfast and dinners. He knew what we want before we knew it by ourself. :-) Also the rest of the staff always was gentle and lovely. The rooms (we had the premier Villa Hillside) was clean, big and cozy. Big terrace with tube, spacious shower and the most amazing view we ever had. Tha hotel is located about 3 Km from the village/port but you reach it by a walk of about 30 minutes or by taxi (cost 200 Bath, which is pretty expensive for that short trip). The Praw Beach, were Le Vimarn is situated, is a calm and relaxing place. Perfect to charge the own power... Breakfastbuffet had plenty of food and very rich varieties of different dishes. The private Boattrip (cost 12‘000 Bath) was beautiful, but the boat could have been a bit newer, so the seats wouldn‘t have been half demolished. Anyway, it was perfect.
Excellent staff, wonderful and peaceful location, great rooms!”
Stayed here for a weekend with my girlfriend and it was a wonderful stay. The room had a nice modern yet resorty villa design, with a fantastic view of the lagoon. The resort itself was designed with the surroundings in mind so there's a lot of greenery around. The hotel is located on a private beach that faces west so you get a wonderful view of the sunset and it is very quaint here. The dining options are plenty and we've tried the seafood BBQ and Italian restaurants and they were both phenomenal. The infinity pool was really nice too with attentive staff. Go on a Friday or Saturday as there's an awesome fire show! Thank you to Le Vimarn staff for a truly amazing stay :)
Nice beach not far away from Bangkok”
If you are looking for a nice and clean beach, quiet hotel perfect for family and couple, Le Vimarn Cottage is perfect for you. We stay at Mountain View, the room is clean, spacious and has a good view (but if you do not want to walk up the stairs, choose another room type.
Not One Complaint”
Both of us feel that Le Vimarn was perfect for the time we had. We really enjoyed the beach and the restaurants. The room and the setting was very peaceful and we felt nicely private. I did remove two lightbulbs from the deck area as three was just too much. One night we travelled to the other side to enjoy a local restaurant and that was an interesting trip and we can highly recommend that restuarant as well. We will return to Le Vivarm and we intend to stay more than two nights next time. I would consider taking the later boat as the room was not ready upon arrival due to others checking out and room preparation. Otherwise, a perfect visit for us.
Lovely resort on lovely quiet beach”
Great beach for the children on Koh Samet as there's lots of shade and the sea is quite shallow, plus pretty quiet in the evenings. Staff at Le Vimarn were brilliant.
great beach, quiet retreat, overpriced restaurants”
the location is great if you want luxury and a quiet retreat, beach is gorgeous and very private. the cottages are luxurious and pleasant.-beds a bit on the hard side. stay away from the "o" restaurant, it is overpriced and the portions small. the other restaurant buzz is a bit cheaper, it has a nice cocktail happy hour, but i did get a bad case of food poisining from there. ao prao is the best beach of koh samed, but it is very quiet, if you need entertainment and lively bars , shops at night, you need to get a pick-uptruck taxi to the other side of the island, cost baht per person, one way. also the spa is very expensive, prices for traditional thai massages are 4 to 5 times more expensive than in the koh samed village center.
