Great relaxing stay by the Mekong”
Had a great time at Little Eden. It is perfectly located if you are staying in Don Det as it is by the jetty, yet it is a little aside from the main street, making it very private. It was so pleasant to have breakfast over the Mekong, watching the boats going with their everyday life. The breakfast was buffet style and the best I had during my travel in Laos and Cambodia. The pool is very large and perfect to relax after exploring the island. There was always a great atmosphere. The room was simple but just was I needed and the idea is to spend as much time as possible outside! It even had 2 windows over the Mekong, what a treat at this price!
The name says it all”
My friend and I visited Don Det for what was planned to be a couple of days. We loved the island and little eden so much we extended our stay for a week! The owners and other staff were so friendly. The restaurant was fantastic. And our room was so cozy. It was the perfect place to stay after biking around the island all day, sweating crazy from the heat. We absolutely loved our stay at little eden! I would recommend to anyone!
Perfect location and great service”
Arriving at Little Eden after a bus and boat trip from Champask, I knew that the decision made was the right one. I was greeted by the manager Mathieu at the front desk. Lets say the front desk where you check is is one of a kind. Mathieu was a true Legend offering a Beerlao as I sat there amazed with the presenting view. I sat with Mathieu on many occasions during my stay at Little Eden and enjoyed great conversations with him. The rooms were spotless and his staff really tried those extra yards. Little Eden is probably for the more more refined tourists, but any stay at this Hotel will be unforgetable, especially with those spectacular sunset views. I am already planning a trip with the wife next year, so thanks very much Mathieu for your friendship
Nice river view from the restaurant ”
We enjoyed our 4 night stay at Little Eden - but it took a little calibration on our part. There is kind of an Island time casualness that permeates Don Det and this hotel too. It's not that the staff are unfriendly, it's just that they do things in their own time and in their own way - whether at breakfast or making up the room. For example, they straightened the beds but didn't change the sheets and it was sometimes hard to find them in the restaurant. They didn't anticipate our needs, but accommodated our requests in a laid back sort of way. I think only one room has a river view - but sitting in the restaurant is awesome. The pool was a nice place to cool off too. The owner wasn't around much - but friendly, helpful and interesting when he was. So if you are properly calibrated, and keep some of this mind, this place is for you!
I had an amazing time at little Eden. I extended my stay twice!! It is definitely the cleanest and most comfortable place on the island. Totally worth the money to fit the relaxing atmosphere of don det! Sad to leave!
Great Hotel, location top, facilities top”
The Hotel was great. Don Det is lovely, but the dirty, young, white travellers on their gap year have ruined this place. Little snowflakes running around spending Daddy's money. Absolute scum.
Great location, fantastic food, excellent rooms.”
Probably the best hotel in the islands area. The rooms are massive, the beds are huge and everything is new. The location is great and you can see the sunset every evening at the restaurant. The food from there is also fantastic, although a little pricy. The only complaint is that it's a little on the expensive side, and the prices seem to vary significantly. Walk ins tend to get a discount at certain times. No wifi in the room.
It was a really plaesant place to stay. ”
The hotel is located on Don Dhet and its right next to the passenger pick up and drop off. Its a really nicely finished hotel with the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river. Food on menu looks very nice but we didn't eat there as very quiet.I think for the price ,although on the slightly expensive side,it's very worth it if u want to have a comfortable, airconditioned well appointed room with hot water shower.Definitely recommend it.
Absolutely loved it!”
Don Det was just amazing & staying in such a lovely accommodation added to the experience. We had two room as kids are older. Simple breakfast, clean & tidy rooms, awesome pool & friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location and lovely swimming pool”
We ended up staying for 7 nights because we enjoyed relaxing by the pool so much. The hotel is located right by the boat drop off point and near all the main bars and restaurants on Don Det. The room was big and comfy but the cleaning wasn't very thorough and the room never really got properly cleaned during our stay. However, a lot of the house keeping staff are very young which made us feel a bit uncomfortable as they are school age but serving customers. The breakfast timings were also a bit strange, one day opening until 11a.m and other times closing early with a surly response by staff when questioned about this. On the whole though, this is probably the best place to stay on the island if you want some creature comforts, lovely views of the Mekong (amazing sunsets for the restaurants) and a wonderful pool to relax by.
Nice place but could be much better”
Little Eden is a nice hotel with a great pool facility for relaxing which we used every day. Wifi was the best experienced in Don Det and the view of the sunset was impressive. The shower was very weak and there were a couple of squashed bugs on the wall but nothing to worry about. Didn't eat there but when we checked in I saw a cat licking a pan in the kitchen which didn't look good! Overall a nice place but I felt it was overpriced and there are much cheaper alternatives that I would suggest.
The hotel has a great location right next to the peer in Don Det. The pool was great and clean. It would be nice if they would provide some cushions for the sunbeds. The restaurant has an amazing view pn the river and I really liked the breakfast. Fresh fruits, crepe and some egg dishes to order. Staff could be more friendly at reception, especially the wife of the owner. The rooms was kind of clean. Still some dead flies on the wall and ants in the bathroom. The bed sheets had a big hole. Havent felt so comfy in this bed. And the shower has kind of no water pressure. Difficult to wash your hair.
Amazing breakfast views, lovely pool and nice rooms”
We got a good deal on Agoda -it's Worth paying a little extra to stay here, nicest place on island, 6 breakfast choices and an amazing view, daily room clean if you want it, really nice bathroom and staff. Pool area nice and you need it in the heat. Would recommend. Good aircon.
Good place to staye”
We enjoyed 3 fantastic days at the Eden. Nice rooms, good service friendly staff and a fantastic terasse at the river. Horst&Sonja Switzerland
Very great hotel.the best location and a beautiful views of a lovely sun set.”
The owner was great guy and very helpful with things to see and do on Don Det Island.
Nice place with very nice sunset but a bit expensive ”
Mixed feeling... The hotel itself looks amazing, the bedroom a little bit less. A bathroom redecoration could be good. The food is average compare to other places in Laos. If you are looking for a relaxing place with a pool, then the little Eden on Dondet is ok but nothing exceptional.
There are a lot of places to stay on Don Det. Most are closer to the basic budget end of things. Little Eden is trying to move in on the higher end market. They've got the higher end price but not all the amenities and small touches that make it worth while. A perfectly nice place but simply OVERPRICED.
Wonderful peaceful stay in best hotel on Don Det”
We stayed in a double room which was excellent value for money. The pool is large and clean with plenty of sun loungers. There is no other pool that I could see on the island apart from the one at this hotel. The breakfast is good with about 5 options to choose from off the menu (scrambled eggs, pancake etc) with unlimited tea/coffee/juice, all with a beautiful view over the Mekong. The sunset view from the restaurant is great.
Unfriendly Staff - Can Pay $5 for A Bungalow Next Store”
After being super impressed with the level of customer service in south east Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos) we were surprised to be greeted so poorly by the staff at Little Eden (ironic given the name). Although they have a nice pool, and clean rooms the amount paid is not worth the money. We got the feeling we were a burden from the moment we arrived rather than a welcomed guest. The food was decent (although we had to hunt for the staff every morning to alert them we were up and ready for breakfast) and the room was clean. I would certainly no recommend it and if I return to the island, I'll be looking for another place to stay.
the rooms are ok, and given the other choices on the island probably one of the better locations, especially the garden/restaurant are in a beautiful spot, unfortunately, it lacks the needed final touch, the small things that make it a memorable stay, everything is handled a little too relaxed and sometimes cheap (especially the breakfast which does not deserve being called so). but as they say on the t-shirt: been there, seen it, don det.
