Great (Except for a Neighborhood Drunk Grabbing My Shoes!)”
Great place to stay, except for a BIZARRE incident involving the neighborhood drunk/crazy person taking my hiking shoes in the middle of the night from the show rack (according to the CCTV) - it took some time for the owner, police and the drunk/crazy person's wife to sort out the safe return of the correct pair! After that, maybe someone will actually be at the front desk all night long and I am NOT going to be leaving hiking shoes on hostel shoe racks anymore... Otherwise, the staff at the front desk generally speaks enough English to help you with whatever you need, rooms and bathroom areas are cleaned everyday (they provide soap/shampoo + towel) and the daily breakfast varies each day (toast/fruit and parathas or mohinga/noodles or something else) for some variety (there is free water, tea and coffee). Last year, I stayed at Four Rivers and I would say Little Yangon is better. At the former, they only had small lockers in the lobby area that a laptop could not fit into (had to leave it w/ the front desk). At Little Yangon, you can put your entire backpack under the bed and lock it up so there aren't a bunch of huge backpacks lying around. Also, there is a bit more food suitable for tourists in this area (its also closer to the Sule Pagoda) + the upscale but reasonably priced Rangoon Tea House is around the corner. Only problem is the Internet is pretty lousy and was out most of the time I was there. The owner said it was a problem specific to those downtown streets and it would sometimes be out even at the Rangoon Tea House. The Yaw Min Gyi street area has the fastest Internet and the most places to eat - its maybe a 15-20 minute walk. The owner is also going to open a place to stay at Hpa-An which is starting to become popular with tourists.
Excellent hostel with great location, wifi and breakfast”
I would recommend Little Yangon Hostel for the following reasons: 1.Location: You can reach this hostel using an airport shuttle as low as 500 kyats to Sule and from there about 10 mins walk to the hostel. 2. To visit Aung Ming Lar bus station its very easy to catch bus number 36 with 200 kyats. 3.Beds and nice and big(top bank can be high for some) with individual lockers 4.Wifi worked well 5. Breakfast was good with 24 hours tea and coffee from the kitchen. 6.The reception is across the street is nice ,spacious and cosy, great place to hangout and work. 7.Great staffs, always smiling and trying to give out as much information as they could. 8.The hostel also organizes some day out plans and events 9.Good street food, tea stalls nearby, laundry on the same street. 10.Most attractions can be accessed by buses from Sule. So overall a great place to stay..Little Yangon hostel--Highly recommended !!
definitely the best place to stay in Yangon”
It was really great. I usually don't stay in hostels when i travel, because it's always uncomfortable. But coming to Yangon and checking coup,e of not expencive guesthouses i didn't like them and decided to check this hostel which had really good reviews. It was a good decision! Hostel is good located, it haa the best shower i had in Myanmar, spacious rooms where you actually don't feel you are in dorm, really good aircon, good breakfast included with a choice of Myanmar breakfast and western toasts, free coffee and tea(great green tea!) all day long, laundry service, ticket booking, taxi booking. Hostel staff is very professional and incredibly helpful, all of them are doing their best to be the best!i arrived on the bicycle as I am on a cycling trip, but wanted to have couple of days rest and go to the sea with the bus for the New Year's eve. They offered to keep my bicycle and panniers for this period for free. Besides they helped me to book a bus ticket for my husband who arrived after I left and when he came they offered him juice and towel and shower for free. Though he didn't stay there for a night because had a bus to the sea. It is really cery nice gesture from hostel's staff which we really appreciated! Thanks a lot for the great stay in Yangon!
Spotless.colonial.elegance safe and homely”
Very comfortable.beds with therapuetic mattresses.and proper linen sheets and.duvets. There are balconies and a 5 star party lounge with giant flat screen TV Large private lockers and extremely helpful staff that can arrange anything at the drop of a.hat. There is a luxurious kitchen that you can use and the free buffet breakfast is absolutely awesome. I have been travelling to Yangon for 30 years and can honestly say that this hostel is miraculous considering it is world-class and costs a pittance. Big modern bathrooms.with hot showers.and toiletries provided. This hostel is so good it feels.like a.super home away from home. The extras and benefits are too numerous to mention.as people.really go out of their.way to.ensure you have smooth stay. Of course the location is downtown not far.from The Strand and within walking distance.of.Bogoke.market the train.station and the necessary eateries and clubs. Backpackers who are.often in.dingy grubby places.with lousy food will.feel that they have gone to a travellers heaven on Earth. I examined the mansion from top to bottom.and.could.not find.fault so rest assured it has been added to my.favorites on Agoda and I hope to return there ASAP. AH yes.there is one big problem with this hostel....if you turn up without a booking it will most probably be full and you will have to wander to one.of the places that lack cleanliness proper breakfasts party zone and full.service. 24 hour minimart nearby with rums.and.beers to grab for.the party lounge. Lots of beautiful lasses (or handsome.lads) from around the world keep.this fun place alive and.also makes finding.travel and trekking partners easy...need I say more?
Value is more than what you paid for”
At first, I did not expect much coz I just wanna stay for a night while in Yangon instead of sleeping at the airport. The place tends to be in a secluded alley which may one find it difficult to find for first timers. Google is always your friend. The receptionist and staff are nice and helpful. The room itself, the bed, are quite comfy. I'm Asian by the way. The toilet and shower are well maintained. The breakfast is within my Asian taste. I was really surprised by the value of this hotel. Highly recommended :)
A Very Good Hostel Option for Yangon”
I had stayed here in April 2016 before it was remodeled with the lobby now located across the road from the hostel. The only annoyance (which I mentioned to the lady manager) was the lack of a drinking water dispenser on the accommodation side. A key card is also now required to enter the accommodation side. Otherwise, the Internet worked much better on this stay, BUT there were still some water issues (it’s Yangon) for the showers on upper floors. To be safe, I would take showers on the lower floors & checked the water to make sure it’s working before showering. Staff at the front desk generally speaks enough English to help you, rooms/bathroom areas are cleaned everyday (soap/shampoo+towel), you can put everything under the bed & lock it w/ your lock, & the daily breakfast varies each day (toast/fruit+parathas or mohinga/noodles + tea/coffee/juice). I had sprained a foot (I donated my crutches when I left) before coming but had no problems w/ the steep stairs w/ railing.
Good but not enough”
Must leave some money as deposit when do check-in. For me, the receptionist was not friendly, not like in other hotels I stayed in Myanmar. The room was noisy, hearing a lot of sound when people stepped on the upstairs floor. Maybe it is the stay-one-time-only hotel in Yangon. However, the places around it are quitely cool and easy to visit.
best value”
I rated base on its price. They are doing great for this price. There may be a better hostel out there with a little higher price, it's your choice. I reluctant to say this is the best, but best for its price. The place was a bit dated, not as picture as we might expect this everywhere. Dusty in some places. Cleanliness can be improved. They really need new ventilation system as those fans are not working, something smelly in dorm. But my bed was clean. Myanmar people (staffs) are nice. Myanmar internet and electricity are not stable, don't complain their wifi. Long term guests may do everything like their home e.g. washing cloths, cooking food.
Love this place! ”
Everything about this place is wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are so helpful and accommodating, the location is great, and breakfast was always delicious. I won't stay anywhere else in Yangon :)
Great place to meet people!”
Nice hostel, good location, very comfortable. As clean as I'd imagine it could be for Yangon (from my impression, a very dirty city in general) and a very helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay!
Exceptional”
Nr. 1 Adress in Yangon. Never had such nice and helpful staff. They offer also a lot of activities and tipps. Beds comfy, showers nice - everything great. Also a lot of other travel
Best hostel experience ever!”
I liked the different breakfast every morning, and that the staff were able to help with my travel bookings and just give general advice about Yangon. They were very helpful.
Good place but trikky transportation booking”
Good place to stay, friendly staff, good location, clean and comfortable. However, if you can avoid to book transportation with them do it through a travel office instead as you could get surprises on the length of trip, suggested itinerary and trip conditions. They will not necessarily give you the most optimal route because they get commission and can only book if you start from or arrive to Yangon. Luckily I did my research and avoided myself a few useless back and forth to Yangon, although I purposely asked them to save me time in transport. Other than that very good place to stay!
Location location location”
Great location, easy to get anywhere in Yangon and most places on foot. Very friendly staff, breakfast was ok, toast, banana and noodles everyday, wifi only worked in the lobby. Dorm was clean and spacious, reading lights were questionable and bathrooms needed some love - leaking toilets, worms, limited hot water.
Very nice location”
Very clean room, nice leisure room, cheap price. Best choice for backpackers in Yangon.
Good place if you're on budget”
Overall, it was okay. The restroom needs some improvement and room needs to improve ventillation. If you plan on staying in downtown Yangon, this is okay.
They make you feel right at home!”
The staff at this hostel are incredible! They are so sweet and helpful. They are constantly cleaning the hostel. They wouldnt even let me do my own dishes! We paid the extra dollar a dorm with a window, which I highly recommend. The dorm without the window did not have much space besides the bunks. The beds are comfortable and the linen is clean. You are provided a towel. The lockers under the bunks are large enough to hold your big backpack. Breakfast is included as well as unlimited coffee, tea, water. Location is great, walking distance to many attractions! Would definitely stay here again.
Really friendly staff”
I felt very welcome here, hostel was very clean and beds were amazingly comfy and had a little curtain for privacy which was nice. The atmosphere was good and met some nice people to hang out with. Location is good, there are yummy cheap places to eat around and taxis are quite cheap to get to the pagodas. I had a great time here.
Good Location, Good Price and Good Staff”
The hostel is near many eating palaces. No that different to locate the hostel. See where you are and just follow the street number. The rooms are reasonably clean. The staff do speak English and are very responsive. When I told that the bed light and the toilet are not working, they quickly get someone to fix them. Recommended place to stay.
Clean, Kind, Comfortable, a little Costly”
The staff are so sweet and take pride in their work and in their hostel. It's well-run, professional, and maintains a fun atmosphere. The lounge area is open and inviting at all times and the entire hostel is spacious. The breakfast is good too - make sure to try the mohinga (fish soup) for breakfast - it's a must in Myanmar! The price for a bed seems to fluctuate frequently and without reason, but that is really the only thing off - the rest is great!
