A relaxing stay with heartwarming meals”
Good location, near the entrance of the Taroko National Park and the bus stops. Liwu Hotel is old but well-kept. It bears with it a character so warm and familial, it made our stay relaxing and restful. It seems the hotel is family-run---based on the reviews I read. The staff speak little English but they were able to anticipate and help us with our concerns. We ate all our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel, and we always looked forward to the very tasty beef noodles after a day of hiking; all the meals were tasty and well prepared. The free buffet breakfast that came with the booking was ample and filling. If I ever go back to Taroko, I would stay at Liwu Hotel again.
Comfortable hotel, very near the national park”
I got a very large room for myself. The standard room here can accomodate 4 people, great value for the price. The room is in good condition with proper facilities. There are buses right in front of the hotel that can take you to many places and they gave me time table so it's very convenient for me to plan my travel. The area is peaceful, surrounded with large mountains, with some places to eat and a convenient store. The hotel itself also has good food available. The staff, overall, were nice, I just had a little problem because sometimes the reception desk was empty, no one there to give advice when I needed. Other than that, it was very good. I recommend this place.
Amazing stay and friendly owner/staff”
We had two amazing nights at Liwu Hotel. The owner Johnny (if I'm not mistaken) was friendly and helpfull. He would answer any question regarding your stay and nearby attraction. We enjoyed our breakfast meal too. Don't expect fancy food. The hotel provided bread, porridge, buns, simple salad, coffee and tea. Hot water/cold water is available at the dining area. We took a bus from Xincheng Train Station. Just mention Liwu Hotel and the bus driver will bring you to a bus stop just nearby the hotel. The hotel is just 10-15 minutes walk to Taroko National Park centre. You can also explore the Liwu river, located just behind the hotel. There's a nearby 7-11 store and small restaurants too. Easy to take a bus to Xincheng/Hualien train station too.
Basic but great location if you plan to go to Taroko”
Traveled with young children and with rented car. Very basic hotel with breakfast. Free parking outside the hotel. The main advantage is it is very near the starting point of Taroko National Park. For myself, drove from Taroko National Park to Hehuanshan Mountain and finally to Sun Moon Lake. It was an 8 hours roadtrip, thus staying at Liwu was a great starting point.
Nice place just before Taroko entrance. Breakfast is Chinese style , though have coffee and toast, no eggs. 7-11 nearby. A little busy, people coming and going at nighttime echoes down the stairs. But recommend.
Liwu Hotel is great as a base to explore the wonders of Taroko National Park”
Liwu Hotel is right at the entrance to Taroko National Park. It is nice and clean and definitely adequate for a good night's rest after spending the day exploring the wonders of Taroko National Park. It is a 5min taxi ride from the Sinchen train station. There are a couple of places to dine but not many options. There is a 7-11 nearby where you can grab some food if you are too late or too early
Pole position to start the Taroko adventure”
We booked this hotel because it offers pole position to start the Taroko adventure from early in the morning before the tourist buses come in. We also had an Old Zhuilu hike planned up so this hotel turned to be a great option for that as ether are public buses going inside Taroko from right outside this hotel. The rooms we were offered were on higher floor and were extremely spacious. Shower was good as well.
Hotel was clean, staff are friendly, breakfast is very simple”
Very near to taroko National Park. Hotel is about 30min drive from Hualien station. Breakfast has simple food like mantou, toast & spreads, porridge, buns.
Good hotel if you are planning to hike at Taroko Gorge ”
Location is great if you are planning to hike Taroko Gorge for a day or two
Very close to Taroko NP”
Just a short walk to the park from here. Johnny was extremely helpful with knowledge of the area and helping us arrange transport everywhere. Highly recommend.
Staff very accommodating. Shuttle bus location steps away from hostel- very convenient
Great location. Good breakfast. Large rooms. That’s the good stuff. lady at front desk didn’t acknowledge us once or speak a word of English so if you plan to have them help you arrange anything think again. Room is large but very dated. But again you can walk to taroko so that’s good
Kind and helpful staff let us use their knives and cutting board to prepare our lunches. When we explained our food issues (wheat allergy, vegetarian) they made sure the food at breakfast was okay for us to eat. Awesome service, and super close to the entrance to Taroko. The one guy working in the evening spoke English quite well.
Lovely place, amazing scenery, but wild dogs were a nuisance”
Can’t fault the place at all. Beds were well presented, staff were incredibly helpful and went out their way for us. The place is situated so close to taroko gorge and the sites are fantastic. Only down side, and this is not the hotels fault, the wild dogs were barking all night right outside our window and they were a pain. We stayed two nights and they barked both nights and made it really difficult to get any sleep, and after a few days of heavy hiking that was hard work. Other than the dogs though the place was beautiful and the hotel looked after us well.
Perfect place to stay for hiking in the Taroko gorge.”
The hotel is situated at the Taroko bus stop. From there you can take a bus to the main attractions in the Taroko gorge and also get a bus to the train station. The room was very big, comfortable and clean and had a view of the mountains. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They serve a good breakfast and you can also have lunch or dinner at their restaurant. As a base for hiking in Taroko I can strongly recommend Liwu hotel.
nice place to stay”
breakfast is quite good spread. near taroko gorge however there isn't much places to go at night. there is a nearby 7-11 where u can stock up on nice drinks and meals. otherwise the place is pretty isolated. the only highlight of the place is the taroko gorge. the hotel is pretty simple and the place is clean. however the staff only understand simple English.
It is just walking distance to Taroko Natural Park. Good place to stay for relaxing. But they could improve on their cleanliness as my room was quite dusty because they did not close the door after doing housekeeping.
Great location, just outside Taroko entrance”
Recommended for location. Liwu included breakfast, Western style one morning, Taiwanese style the next. I suggest simpler menu items so all arrive more hot. Rooms were comfortable, no complaints. Great location, especially if in your own car. Just outside the entrance of Taroko park entrance.
Perfect location for Taroko National Park ”
Stayed for 2 nights during weekdays. Perfect location to Taroko National Park- only 5-10 minutes walk to the park entrance and 1 minute walk to the bus station. Clean room. Basic toilet. Coffee sucks. Breakfast is limited and not my appetite. Yet given the stay is mainly for the National Park, this is the best option. Recommended!
Very large room. Nice and kindly staffs. Very close to Taroko Gate and 7 mins to train station by car. Near to 7-11 and restaurant.
