A FAVOURITE OF MINE”
I have been staying at the Lloyd for over a decade. Less these days, as I am enjoying trying different properties around town, and the Lloyd no longer has the Cultural Embassy which made it so special. That said, it still has a special place in my heart.

Great stay for couples! And people who want some peace and calm during the night”
We changed hotel in the start of our stay because of a lot of circumstances, and we ended up on Lloyd hotel. This hotel is a little 5 min tramride from central station, and being on the outskirt of the main town was very great because we felt we could relax when we got to the hotel, and no noise from the streets. We got a room at the 5th floor, with a view of a huge clock. The rooms where so light and clean, thick duvet, good pillows and generally a very nice bed. In the hallway we had so many hooks that we could put our entire wardrobe hanging in the hallway, which was very practical. The staff were so nice and easy to talk to, and the prices at the café were in our range. Overall a great stay, and we will come here the next time we go to Amsterdam. Thank you so much!

Beautiful 1-5 Star Hotel with Many Options ”
My stay at the Lloyd Hotel was very pleasant, I stayed in a 2 star room with a full sized bed and a pull out couch. The open shower concept was really interesting (we had to squeegee the ground so the water would go into the drain), which was something I wasn't used to, but When in Amsterdam.... Anyway, the staff was so friendly and they helped me upgrade my room so I could have a good experience with my traveling partner. Also, I wish we could have eaten there because the foods sounded fantastic. Overall, a really great stay with a lot of great options, you could pick a 1 star room up to a 5 star room. It is a 30 min walk to the middle of the city so be prepared for that one, I would suggest getting a 48 hour tram pass, or longer depending on your stay.

Fun and interesting place to stay”
The Lloyd hotel is definitely one of a kind! I had a very enjoyable stay there. The location is excellent. If you are coming from the airport, take a train to Central Station and then tram 26 straight to the hotel; its only a two minute walk from the tram stop. My room overlooked a canal, and the view was wonderful.l The windows to the canal open, so you can enjoy the sights and sounds. Its a very quiet area. There is a cool little mall across the street, with a big supermarket, nice coffee shop and restaurant. The roooms are a good value for the money. The bed was extremely comfortable with great pillows and a very fluffy duvet. There is free coffee and tea available. The restaurant is fantastic and they have a cute gift shop with funky items for sale. There are interesting places to sit throghout the hotel and many artsy peices that make it feel a bit like you are sleeping in a museum. Staff were also nice and helpful. The only think I would suggest is art work in the rooms/

Interesting hotel with an excellent service”
We reached the hotel a few hours after the storm hits Amsterdam. The receptionist was very helpful and made a fast check-in for us to settle down. Our room located at basement level due to hotel fully booked. The hotel decorated with a modern design and this is the first time we stayed in a room with an open toilet. We spent 3 nights at this interesting hotel. Although it was a prison during the past and this makes the whole story sounds scary, but we found that it's much better than what we think of. The location is great, away from the lively and noisy area, but still close to centraal. Take Tram #26 and it's only 3 stops (Rietlandpark Station) from Amsterdam Centraal. It's very convenient, just a few minutes walk from the tram station, you can even see the hotel from the tram. Overall, it's a pleasant stay with this quiet and nice hotel. By comparing with those hotels in downtown with higher price but low quality room, definitely i will choose here again with no doubt. For sure will come back again!

Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam review”
Quirky but historical, The Lloyd Hotel is an excellent choice for a short stay in Amsterdam. Only 3 stops / 5-10 mins from Centraal Station/the Rijksmuseum, wonderfully clean with good local amenities: supermarket, cafe, pub etc. Great!

unique experience, felt like Alice in wonderland”
Most memorable hotel experience so far. Hotel is on a quiet location in Amsterdam, next to tje riverside, easy to access from trainstation. Only a few stos by tram. The building looks like it was a school or hospital before, very interesting settlement, we loved the room, giant bed, big windows with window blindss. Every element of the interior had a little surprise, the chair was a lamp itself, fridge was like just climbed out out from Minecraft game, bathroom "coming out" from the wall just to mention the most memorable, and sttill I felt the hotel is for matured people. Next the hotel there is a cafe, (HSB i think) strongly recommended to try their breakfast after a nightout. Would definitely go back to this hotel!

A fascinating space to explore with innovative, quirky rooms”
I was intrigued by the Lloyd Hotel's history as an emigrant hotel, school and even detention center, and the fact that it had been re-done by dozens or architects who designed rooms at all price levels. It is a huge place, including several libraries, a green house, a newspaper center, a lounge, a restaurant and a shop for Dutch design items. Our room was large and airy but we had to shower in front of each other----an interesting experience! The restaurant had some very pricy items (wild boar, etc.) but also reasonably priced burgers and paella. The atmosphere was artsy, bohemian an eclectic. If you don;t mind walking past years of old art and design journals on the way to your room (and one very colorful sofa) then you will enjoy staying here.

Nice place to stay”
Over my expectation. The location is super good, very near from the tram station Rietlandpark (3 mins walking) and just 3 stops to the Amsterdam Centraal Station (5 mins). The area is fresh and peaceful with trees and pure air. Hotel is close to a river and a park, jumbo supermarket. My room is super cheap and have to use shared bathroom but the room is cute enough, clean and tidy and worth the money, shared toilet and bathroom is various and clean also. Hotel's reception is friendly and helpful. Hotel's restaurant served good foods and nice seats to enjoy a delicious meal, both outside and inside. Recommended.

Exceptional”
Excellent value for Amsterdam which is an expensive city. On the other hand I got it at the last minute deal. Out-of-the-way enough from the center to be not surrounded by tourists. In fact most of the other guests seem to be Dutch speaking. The building has a history and some character which, when renovated, was left intact and very present except for the restaurant which has been tastefully re-designed in a contemporary style. My bedroom had huge windows that opened and very high ceilings. Staff was helpful. Restaurant had a good menu and by Dutch standards was interesting and good value.

Wonderful short stay”
I got one of their last rooms on a spur-of-moment trip a couple weeks ago. The first room wasnt quite right for me traveling singly ;-)...it was very pink with circular bed and ceiling mirror. Luckily there was still another available, though it had twin beds. It was quite designed in a playful way and really very comfortable! (the bed itself and linens were lovely.) Both of these rooms were in the basement, and the one I ended up in was fairly near the hotel entrance, so it was noisy 4-5am with folks coming in from fun and people departing early. But I still slept pretty well. The next day I decided to stay another night if they had room, and got to move to the 3rd floor. This room was lovely and white and had a nicely sized desk for me to work on. I was lucky and got to keep it for a third night too. The bathrooms are fine and cleanlined, and although I generally dislike the "wet-room" concept, where the shower isnt walled off from the toilet an sink, the space was deep enough (in all the rooms I saw) that it worked fine. My only quibble is that there arent any hooks or towelracks (except for the rack above the toilet that has all the towels on it.) Had a fine late evening snack the first night of tomato soup and fresh oysters and a good beer from right down the road (Br. T'Ij) The Breakfast brunch is copious and superb and the bar can also make a very good cappuccino. The building is a delightful combination of old and new design in the way the Dutch seem to know how to do. It was an aesthetic delight staying there and it took some effort to get me out and into the center, and not to stay there all day! I rented a bike the last day and rode around the neighborhood , which is the eastern docklands, full of modern architecture and water and air. It's a straight shot walking or biking down to Brouwerij T'Ij (in the windmill) which is certainly a center of joy. And getting back to the station via the tram was easy peasy and very fast. I've given this top sta

Quiet place for retreat”
We stayed at Lloyd for 4 days, and the best part of the hotel is really the restaurant, which serves really good food. I think the rooms are overrated, and certainly not worth the price that I paid for. Could have gotten a better 5 star hotel with modern amenities. Bathtub wasn't working properly (water kept seeping through the drainage) and it was uncomfortable to shower while sitting down cause you can't do it standing up cause there was no shower curtain. But I guess that's what boutique design hotels are about - a touch beyond the business hotel. Weird that the room didn't have a closet. All in all, great for a one time experience but I don't think I'll do it again.

Great Value”
Staff were very friendly, and the rooms were generally clean. I suppose the hotel was going for a more rustic theme with most of the furniture being wooden. Overall the only complaint would be the lack of closet/drawers/safe in the room. Other than that, everything was very satisfactory, it is 3 tram stops from the city center and the tram station is right behind the hotel. Also great price considering how close it is to the city center.

Gd service and interesting rooms”
When I was in Amsterdam, it was snowing like crazy. The service staff assigned us a room with 2 single beds and no bath tub; so we were a bit unhappy about it cos we asked for the two upfront in the reservation. We called them and they changed it for us. Was a pretty interesting room. We were amused by the design as water was splashing out of the tub when showering. The resturant served very good food and waiter was amazingly charming with good recommendation of meatball. Dinner and breakfast was very enjoyable!
