SAii Phi Phi Island Village (SHA Plus+)
Loh Ba Gao,Loh Ba Gao - View on map
"The Outrigger has the best beach on the entire island. We had such a great time that we extended our stay at the resort. We had a garden bungalow: comfy beds, big bathrooms, large balconies (great for sipping cocktails & dining on). Here's our review: Pros: - Great Beach: Crystal clear waters, where you can snorkel, canoe or just cuddle:-) Likewise, using the pool & jacuzzi was so much fun, with a awesome pool bar to top it off. - Access to Phi Phi Village: Check out Buffalo Head Bar & Red Tuna for fresh seafood, traditional Thai delicacies & delicious cocktails. All the restaurants there come highly rated, the villagers are friendly, eager to please & offer impeccable service. - Heavenly Spa: We booked a couples treatment, with a milk spa, body scrub, massage & facial. It was so relaxing that we drifted off to sleep multiple times. The ladies worked their magic & had us hooked. We looked & felt refreshed afterwards. It's definitely a MUST! - Efficient House Keeping - They did a fantastic job. We always had a gorgeously represented bungalow. Small details like flowers on the bed, fresh fruit & an air-con'd room was also much appreciated. Cons: - Once guests get to Tonsai Bay, they have to pay an additional 200 baht to get to Loh Ba Gao where the Outrigger is located. No reason why the resort doesn't offer free shuttle services given the amount of money we're paying for accommodation. - The resort had signs to Tonsai Bay, The View & Loh Lana Bay but none of these walking treks were developed. We tried to walk to Tonsai Bay(about 1hour hike) but the paths we found were overrun with grass, shrubs & rubbish. Likewise, "The View", a 40min walk uphill was like trekking through the jungle. Loh Lana Bay, on the other side of the resort, had garbage scattered everywhere on the beach. The villagers said that passing boats usually threw their rubbish overboard, bringing it onto shore with the tides. Such a pity because it’s a beautiful area."

Phi Phi Coralbay Bungalow

"Cheap hotel. Very basic. Staff very helpful, great location right beside the private beach for phi phi island resort which everyone seems to use. Right by a small strip where several restaurants and shops are located. Free pickup from the pier when you come in on the ferry. 600 baht approx 15 pound return fair though the hotel (5 pound cheaper than other offering the service and this did not include the motorbike ride to the long boat) Air con played up part way through. Located one of the family members and within minutes their husband was at our door repairing the aircon. Could not believe my eyes. Was expecting to be told to wait until the morning with it being 9.30pm. Rooms are very basic, could do with a good sweep or hoover. Bed sheets could do with replacing due to a few age related ‘marks’ Agoda vs booking dot com seem to have a massive price difference on the accommodation. Nearly 45% in the price, we are currently seeking reimbursement under the price promise through agoda which is proving very difficult with the stalling tactics and we will made to pay the full charged onsite and then claim back through agoda? 5% card payment surcharge onsite was not explained. None for cash but didn’t want to use this as was unable to locate an ATM machine nearby where we were staying"

Villa 360 Resort and Spa

"Me and my partner booked here last minute, we had been travelling around the islands for two weeks and this was THE BEST Hotel we stayed in. The views were incredible from our balcony/ the pool/ the restaurant. The rooms were extremely spacious (including the bathroom) and cleaned immaculately every day. The air con was very powerful considering the other hotel venues we had stayed in which turned out to be a godsend as it was 100+ degrees daily. The staff couldn't do enough for you, if you wanted something, they would bend over backwards to do their best for you and always courteous! I actually felt sad leaving, where as we would normally spend little time in our hotel, we quite happily spent two out of the three days here just relaxing and doing nothing which normally I find hard to do. What a great team of people. It has its own access to an exclusive beach right on the doorstep to the hotel and you can sit in the pool overlooking the sea. The rockery around the hotel is great for snorkling. Planning my trip next year after getting to know the hotel manager very well as he would greet us every morning."

Phi Phi Phu Chalet Resort

"Although there are not many reviews we booked this hotel and I am delighted to say that we were not disappointed. The hotel is new which means that the rooms and facilities are in pristine condition, the staff were also incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was one to remember. It is private and exclusive, but at the same time within walking distance to the village which is vibrant with bars and restaurants. The hotel bar ans restaurant is very reasonably priced. The only negative is the electrical cables which run in front of the hotel (a bit of a spoiler for those Instagram pics). There is also no beach, but great snorkeling directly in front of the hotel and masks can be rented. "

PP Red Tuna Hut
Loh Ba Gao,Loh Ba Gao - View on map
"I booked this for me and a mate, not knowing anything about the Loh Ba Kao Bay area, and we had the best time. Tuna and his wife are really friendly, all the people around the area are friendly. It was quiet, being low season, so we got to spend a lot of time talking to people and enjoying the local hospitality. The rooms are basic, we had a problem with our shower and they fixed it straight away. bed was comfortable, we had a nice balcony overlooking the creek, air conditioning was good, hot water was good though water pressure was a bit low. Breakfast was great, as was all the food at the Red Tuna restaurant. Red Tuna massage was good as well. No wifi in the rooms but that wasn't a problem, it just meant we spent more time down at reception or at the restaurant, which meant more socialising! Would definitely stay here again!"

"We read quite a few bad rewievs before choosing this hotel and we were not sure what to expect but it was very very good in the end! We loved it so much! Small houses makes you feel like a local even thou they are clean and very well designed! Would definatelly reccommend! The location is out of the busy area and it was soo good! There are free shuttle boats twice a day taking you to the main pier! It wasnt cheap conpared to other hotels we staid at but Phi Phi island is not cheap in general. We staid here off season so ir was cheaper! We paid £20 a night for double room :)"

Phi Phi Little Star Resort

"They double booked or let someone stay a night longer, meaning I was pushed off to an inferior room. I asked about the price, and they said 'same same.'' I know it's endemic in Thailand at high season, but where it has happened before I've had discount or a meal (once 3 free beers per day for the rest of m stay!) I wanted to stay an extra night, and they let me, but again in another room and an inferior one for the same price. These people are shooting themselves in the foot for short-term financial gain, as I wouldn't go again even though in general it wasn't all that bad but who wants to risk the double booking and being sent to an inferior room (50 metres from a late-night live music bar)? Not me. As stated, I understand they need to make income in the high season on the islands, but the inferior rooms are NOT ''price same same.'' If they do that, they should discount. More serious than this issue is what Agoda actually do about it? Anything? "

More about Loh Ba Gao

Loh Ba Gao is on the east coast of Koh Phi Phi. This is a beautifully secluded beach, fringed with coconut palms and almost entirely cut off from the busy west coast scene. The luxury resorts in Loh Ba Gao are the finest on the entire island.

On the west coast of Koh Phi Phi, Ton Sai village has more than a thousand hotel rooms, while Loh Ba Gao barely has more than a hundred. This combined with the fact that the beach at Loh Ba Gao is exceptionally long means guests of local hotels can spend entire days on the beach without bumping into another person if they wish.

All of Koh Phi Phi is well-known for its snorkeling and scuba diving. The best coral reefs at Loh Ba Gao are in the southern quadrant of the bay, with most located a reasonable distance offshore. The seas are usually calm enough to safely swim, but it’s best to go with a boat to properly explore. A local dive center can arrange scuba certification and diving excursions.

Since the area is so secluded, the staff of hotels in Loh Ba Gao are happy to help with arranging activities. Hiking trails lead to the top of the cliffs that back the resorts where the view on a clear day is exceptional. Sea kayaking and chartered tours are also possible.
