Nice location!”

Fronting beaches, very accessible, comfortable rooms with nice view, small but clean swimming pool,, restaurant with variety of foods,

We arrived Lost Horizons Dive Resort late in the afternoon at 6pm direct from a two hours boat ride from Cebu City and an hour flight from Manila. Good that we were able to share a van going to Panglao area with another family, making the fare cheaper. Upon check-in, we were told that we I'll be occupying the third floor room. Right there in there, we requested for a ground floor room, since we are both seniors and will have a hard time climbing the stairs, coz they don't have a lift. But our assigned room was the last one. (Tip no. 1 : age of the traveller must be noted.). So we just occupied said room and since we were tired already, we just ordered food to be taken in our room to avoid going up and down. And no extra charge for the food delivery, thank you! Breakfast the following day was taken in their restaurant fronting the beach. Nice ambiance! But it was served after 7am or even later. (tip no. 2: will help if you inform the restaurant if you want early breakfast). This is so because country day tour starts as early as 7am and dolphin watching and island hopping with snorkeling starts at 6am. Otherwise, you leave the resort without taking breakfast. Dinner time was so romantic with many choices of seafoods that are grilled, and free drinks for the second round order. Noticed that other travelers from other resorts also took their dinner in the Lost Horizons restaurant.(tip no. 3: nice diving and snorkeling maybe arranged in the resort. They have plenty of equipments). Over-all, our stay was worth it!

Great location, nice room with good airconditioner”

location, room condition & view, swimming pool

I didn't expect much about this resort because it is not a luxury hotel. But when I arrived, this resort looked fine thinking about its location and grade(3star). It is just in front of alona beach and located in the middle this area. You can go every where by walk in alona area. Room is clean, hot shower is always available though water is a little bit salty like all other resorts in Bohol. Air conditioner is very quiet and brand new. You can see the beach at modern standard room in third floor or partly at modern standard room in second floor. Never book 'standard room' because it is terrible with virtually no windows. I think the best room for couble is Modern standard. (moder deluxe is at first store, so you can easily access to pool or beach, but can't see the beach in your room). Maybe more expensive rooms better, but I'm not sure about that. There are other more expensive resorts near here. But if you are not going to stay in the room very much because of diving or touring around bohol, but also if you don't like unexpected bad rooms, the Lost Horizon Beach Resort will be one of the best choices. Dinner buffet is also reasonable, and there are band music in the night. Although it is a little bit more expensive than other restaurant, I think the buffet is pretty good for your everynight dinner. I'll choose this resort if I go bohol again. Everything is good thinking about its price. If you are not mad for luxury resort, try Lost Horizon!

great stay in alona highly recommended”

very clean and modern rooms, Comfortable Beds, Friendly attentive staff, great food

I booked here for 1 night and extended 2 more days. I didn't want to leave. Lost Horizon was the best place i have stayed in Alona Beach by far. The beds were very comfortable (not the typical 2" mattresses most resorts have there) The food was great and reasonably priced. We received outstanding services from the staff! They really went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant vacation. The thing i liked most about this resort was it was close to everything, shopping, nightlife and we especially liked the Dive Shop there. Very professional, up to date and well maintained scuba gear made our diving experience one to remember. I HIGHLY recommend Lost Horizon Resort if you want to stay in Alona Beach or if your a scuba diver, this is the place to stay. Will be booking there again soon! Thanks for a great vacation!

Great beach front hotel ”

We booked 3 rooms at Lost Horizon Beach Dive Resort for 4 nights. The hotel accommodation was great, our rooms were on the first floor and each came with a balcony, a sea view and pool view. The rooms were cleaned everyday with a change of towels. The location of this hotel is Super... just step on the beach and stroll past the different restaurants and the tall coconut trees.. Spectacular! There is a seating area on a top deck overlooking Alona beach where breakfast is served... nice Spot! Breakfast was adequate and my boys enjoyed the pancakes! Thank you for your welcome Lost Horizon!

More than I had expected for the price”

I stayed at the Lost Horizon a few days ago and found it to be better than other reviews. The service was very good from the moment of check-in until departure the following day. The owner was on the property and was very friendly and was very hospitable. The rooms had all the amenities that more expensive places have and I could not have asked for more for the very reasonable price. The water was hot in the bathroom when I needed hot water and the air conditioning was cold. The bar attendants and restaurant staff were attentive and always there when I wanted something. The "breakfast included" was the best breakfast I have ever had in any hotel in Asia. The plate was full of food and brought to the table in a reasonable amount of time. I would stay at this resort again when I am in Panglao and look forward to my return. Great job staff!

Great Staff! Facilities with many minor problems!”

We just returned from a 2 night stay at Lost Horizon. We arrived a day late due to a typhoon preventing us from taking the boat back to Bohol from Balicasag. Our reservation was prepaid and there was no problem. When we finally did arrive the next morning, we enjoyed our prepaid breakfast. The resort even credited us the full amount of our missed night's stay (2 rooms) for lunch at their restaurant. Restaurant has a fantastic location--overlooking the beach. Negatives: Many minor problems. Our friend who traveled with us changed her room FOUR TIMES because each room had a major problem (1. No air conditioning 2. No hot water 3. No electricity). Our room had minimal air conditioning, a missing bottle opener for the Coke's in the fridge, ants, some other type of annoying insect, but it had hot water. Our other friend stayed in the "Eco" rooms in the back, which are a great value for the money. The resort is on Alona Beach, a great location. This is a 2 star hotel in a great location!

Nice hotel with a beachfront view”

beachfront location and good food

Our stay with Lost Horizon Beach Dive Resort was okay. Hotel was a beachfront so I like the view everytime I look out on the windows. However, the beach itself is not that good for swimming because of several boats parked in the alona beach. The staff was also accommodating. They offered to move us to a bigger room which is free of charge when they found out that we were 4 in a group. The food also tastes good though it was quite expensive compared to other restaurants. The water on the other hand is another story. The water in our bathroom tastes like seawater. But maybe this is also the case for other resorts. All in all, I can say that my stay there is already comfortable given the price we paid.

Great little resort right on the beach”

Location

the hotel was very clean and well organized and featured diving classes, equipment for sale or rent for scuba or snorkel, and local guided dives around the island of bohol. the rooms were very clean and easy to get to. some of them even had decks out front for a great breakfast spot or just to relax with a beer. speaking of which the beers on happy hour were only usd!! they had nightly lounge singer entertainment which was campy but fun. the fresh seafood market style setup out at the beach was great if u love grilled fresh seafood and they set up tables right out on the sand in front off the resort. the swimming pool was rather small but they did have a jacuzzi. with a beautiful beach right in front, who really cares anyway? my only problem is that the service staff was a little slow....they seemed to be preoccupied too often to bring you another beer or the check. also don't expect to get change for bigger bills there....but from my experience the philippines is the land of no change for big bills anywhere. bring a lot of one hundred notes....and i mean thousands of pesos worth! overall it was a great place and the food is good. i would definitely return.

Very Good Location and Nice & Clean Rooms”

Good Location, Nice Ambiance

This is our 2nd stay in Lost Horizon Hotel. My husband and I stayed here in August last year (2011) and just recently (June 1 to 5, 2012), my husband and I travelled again to Tagbilaran Bohol, but this time, with our 3 children. We thought of staying again in Lost Horizon, coz we thought & we knew then that our children would surely love the ambiance in this hotel...and they did! We all love everything here: big & clean rooms, good service with friendly staff, nice location-fronting the Alona beach, just a few steps to the beach & we love the night life here because the restaurants, live band/accoustic band with sumptuous affordable buffet lunch/dinner or the grilled seafoods are just within the vicinity. We fully enjoyed swimming either in the resort pool or having water activities in the beach. We will stay here again whenever in Bohol. Thank you for making our stay truly a memorable & enjoyable one.

The lost Horizon is perfect if you want to chill out at Alona Beach, Bohol. Good rooms, good staff and right on the beach. Seems popular with divers and the guests at the timee I was there were a good mixture from around the world. Good value for money hotel and good staff.

Resort with a great sea view ”

Location, friendly staff, comfortable bed

Stayed for five days at the modern standard. If you want to dive, Lost Horizon is a very good choice because it has a diving shop in front of the resort and you get to see the ocean every time you are relaxing at the bar or on the sun bed after your dive. The beach is just a few steps away. And staff at the diving shop are trustworthy. Modern standard doesn't have its own terrace. There is a public terrace on the same floor which was okay. One thing that could be improved was that I found a giant spider and cockroach in my fist day of stay. Told the staff and they took care about it and never found them again, so that was okay too. The pool is very small but enough to cool off. If I go to Alona beach, I'll stay there again.

Fabulous stay, even added another day on!”

Staff and food was excellent. The location couldn't be better, right on the beach and the main part of town just a 3 minute walk. Be sure to enjoy an evening sunset here while dining on the grilled fresh seafood or meats. Be sure to add breakfast to your room price, it is well worth it, you won't be disaapointed. The menu had a very large selection from salads to pastas. Room was well equipped, enjoyed having the patio for lounging on. Internet was pretty decent. If you need it stronger head into the dining area near the reception door, worked plenty fast enough there. We would definetly recomment Lost Horizon to friends.

Nice stay”

clean, fast check-in and check out, near the beach

My family and I were satisfied during our short stay in this hotel. We didn't encountered any issues regarding the food and towels as complained by others who had stayed in this hotel too. Food were served fast...the towels were delivered to our room when we requested for replacements. The resort is very near the beach. We had our breakfast near the beach. The boat we rented for dolphin watching and snorkeling fetch us just in front of the resort. Just had a slight issue on the restrictions in the use of shampoo and conditioner in the shower area near the pool. A live band performs at night in their open bar and restaurant.I noticed many foreigners (caucasians..koreans)dining and enjoying the night. The place is like boracay since there are many restaurants, hotels and shopping area nearby. You'll also see many stalls selling fresh seafoods. You buy the seafood you like and tell them how to cook them. Your food will be served to you near the beach and get to watch the firedance performed by freelancers passing by. Dolphin watching ( I call it dolphin hunting he he)and snorkeling at Balicasag island is also enjoyable. We had our lunch in the island. Residents sells fresh seafood at P500.00/kilo including the cooking. We bought 2 small crabs, one pusit and one fish for a total cost of P950.00. After Balicasag we proceeded to Virgin Island. Didn't get a taste of sea urchin due to bad stomach while snorkeling at Balicasag. Our overall trip/tour of Bohol is truly satisfying. Rent of van for countryside tour was P2,500.00. Boat rental for Balicasag was P2,000.00

The hotel is located right on Alona beach. It has a nice pool. The room was large. It wasn't anything fancy but, it was a good value for the price and especially for the location. The food in the restaurant wasn't anything fancy but, it was good and reasonable. Because of the location, there are many other places to eat within walking distance. Nice find in Bohol”

We opted to book here as we had a problem on the reservations in our originally booked hotel. But we're extremely lucky to find this place because we had a very nice stay here. Located right beside Alona Beach, we enjoyed the beach and the nightlife. We stayed in a nice and very spacious room, complete with amenities. Customer service is very good, as employees are very friendly and accommodating to our requests. Only issue that we had is that prices in Panglao is super expensive but its expected on a tourist destination. Will definitely recommend this place to others who will visit Bohol.
