POOR SERVICE at the restaurant - prioritizes caucasian looking customers than asian ones Restaurant staffs were not attentive and were always talking to each other at one corner Poor room cleaning service - sticky floor with dust/sand including the bed and especially under the bed Old and outdated room and facilities, eventhough they mentioned they just recently had renovations Poor internet connection Several days with poor water pressure Can find better hotels nearby We stayed for 5 days and our beddings were not changed even once The hotel is right in front of the beach but can't swim due to boats coming and going
Beachfront Hotel with small pool but clean rooms”
we received an upgrad in the junior suite room which was on the third floor with beach view an a huge terasse. The room was great with a own wirlepool, flatscreen tv and a full minibar. The restaurant is good bzt expensive compare to other restaurants on the beach. For pick up to the airport with the can costs 500 peso.
The hotel was comfortable and located right on the beach. The only issue was that there was construction during the day. We were woken up at 8am each morning to the sound of jackhammers on the roof.
Decent accommodations but don't look for anything spectacular”
This resort is probably at the mid tier of the "acceptable" spectrum. They provided us a room with a balcony (not much to view, though), a bed, TV, safe, towels, etc. Pretty basic hotel stuff. The water pressure was way down, though, so showering wasn't as relaxing as you would like. There was hot water. Our airconditioner conked out on day 3 so we spent our last night without it - ceiling fan made up for it. Most of these hotels have excellent service from the staff - it's their facilities that bring their scores down. If you're going to be doing most of your activities outside - like scuba, beach, tours, restaurants - then this place should meet your needs. But if you're looking for a "resort" feel and wanting to relax in your room, this may not be the place. Also, the restaurant's a bit overpriced...take a walk outside and find a lot better places for meals.
other than the location, Lost Horizon is truly a disappointment”
I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews on here. First off, let me say that I have lived in the Philippines for going on 3 years now and have traveled all over the country = my expectations are localized. This review is for 'Modern Standard' Room #6 The pros: front desk staff courteous & helpful, pool is cleaned & treated daily, free breakfast offered with the Agoda deal is adequate w several choices offered, water pressure & temperature of shower adequate, cable channels offered were excellent, view from the room was nice The cons: wait staff seemed very unhappy and barely cracked a smile for the 4 days of our stay, the room was very dirty upon checking in (the floor was filthy, and was only cleaned upon request), the bathroom is tiny and very awkward to move around in, the toilet never worked properly, despite a whole day of maintenance 'fixing' it. We just gave up. In the end, all you get with this property is an excellent location.
What needs attention is: - Shower! Only 8 small streams are working in the shower head. No preassure in the water. Only sometimes hot water. Useless to have a proper shower. Internet: we were in room H6. Unstable and VERY slow Internet. Useless for other things than messages and reading news. Better and cheaper restaurants just close by. Small, but nice pool. Excellent location litterally BY the beach.
Great location!! BUT First we didn’t get the room we ordered, the stuff told us it’s Agoda’s fault and gave us uncomfortable room for us... the real problem is the noise. There were construction just outside the resort which made us woke up very early and resumed until the evening !
Air conditioning broke with no help from resort - very hot in room, no compensation”
Although the resort is nicely run and the main hotel ( Annex 2 hotel is farther from seaside) is on the beach, I was not happy when my AC broke down and I could not get help from anyone one. The lobby was closed and not staffed. No one would answer the phone and I could not get compensation for my very bad experience. Second, when I asked for hot water during my breakfast, I was charged. Is is not enough the hotel is on the pricier side already but to charge for hot water was not necessary. I do not have plans of going back. Third, although there was hot water for showers, it was impossible to control the temperature. It was either too hot or too cold. There was no middle temperature for the water even though the faucet was adjustable.
Good Value, Good location on beach, nice enough staff, Bathroom uses salt-water and shower didn't get hot, nice balcony, nice room, nice restaurant, but food little pricey. didn't use pool, overall OK stay.
Very good, but not without flaws.”
When we arrived, there were several things that needed fixing in the bathroom. It was obvious that a couple of them were things that had been not working for quite some time. So it's obvious that maintenance only seems to be done when someone complains. It really detracts from your vacation, when you get to a room and have to spend time getting things fixed. Also, the bathroom needs a shower rod and curtain to keep the water from the shower in the shower. Would putting a shower curtain in really be that big of an expense? The pillows we were given were foam rubber and some of the most uncomfortable pillows I have ever slept on in my life, really bad. The staff at the hotel was super nice and very responsive to all requests, they do a great job. The included breakfast was very good and tasty. It would not take that much to make this hotel really good, because the upgrades needed are relatively minor.
My fiancee and I stayed here for 8 nights in July. Our room was great. It was clean, safe, new and well cared for. No issues booking through Agoda either. The pool is great and very clean. The band at the restaurant played until 10 at night, but so did all the other bands at every other restaurant and bar on Alona Beach. If you want quiet all night, dont stay on Alona. Overall this hotel is one of the best and nicest I've ve stated in Asia. Super incredible value for your money. Cant recommend it more if you go to Bohol.
I really love to stay in your place people know us already, friendly staff ,nice beach sand is white and my partner and kids love the pool , room is always clean , food is great especially the seafood, we always love to keep coming back to your place.
Close to beach and night life”
I liked my stay at the Lost Horizon hotel, the rooms are comfy and quiet. It is one of the few hotels with a pool, and it is located in the center of action on alona beach. Te food is good, and the bar is good also for music at night.
Nice, simple hotel and good location”
Stayed with 4 Chinese and German friends (all ladies) and they too had nothing to complain about this hotel. Rooms are smallish but clean and complete. The resort also has a decent restaurant and bar. It's right at the end of where vehicles can travel on the beach, walkable distance from most everything you need on Alona.
Great location and clean room!”
Hotel location is in front of the alona beach and also middle of the alona seashore!! very good for moving to other place! easy to get a tricycle or motocycle! and they have a bar, at night, the band is singing song. The atmosphere is good!! Sand condition is not good compared with both ends of seaside and also the night restaurant is also better to go in direction of the amorita resort. Ah!!! The bed thing is in this resort is water is salty but I don’t know other resort is also too.
Great little resort right on the beach”
the hotel was very clean and well organized and featured diving classes, equipment for sale or rent for scuba or snorkel, and local guided dives around the island of bohol. the rooms were very clean and easy to get to. some of them even had decks out front for a great breakfast spot or just to relax with a beer. speaking of which the beers on happy hour were only usd!! they had nightly lounge singer entertainment which was campy but fun. the fresh seafood market style setup out at the beach was great if u love grilled fresh seafood and they set up tables right out on the sand in front off the resort. the swimming pool was rather small but they did have a jacuzzi. with a beautiful beach right in front, who really cares anyway? my only problem is that the service staff was a little slow....they seemed to be preoccupied too often to bring you another beer or the check. also don't expect to get change for bigger bills there....but from my experience the philippines is the land of no change for big bills anywhere. bring a lot of one hundred notes....and i mean thousands of pesos worth! overall it was a great place and the food is good. i would definitely return.
Great Hotel Feature”
Pros: Nice hotel almost at beach front. Free access on internet via wifi definitely add on the the value of this hotel. Clean rooms and T&B. If you want to go on bar hopping those establishments are just nearby. Cons: service water from faucet and shower have high salinity. (it is suggested that the hotel invest on cold water treatment facility) The pool is quite small having a water depth of around 7ft which is not friendly to those who dont know how swim. No intercom inside the room thus making it hard time to call for other services.
good location aand nice hotel”
great to stay there near in the beach, nice room good food,u can walk away by the beach and u can choose a seafood food anywhere u want plenty near in the beach, and they have white sand beach and can swim anytime.
Great Location with big rooms”
One of the nicest hotel in alona beach in a very affordable price...big rooms and big bathrooms..but the pool is small...great food especially the grilling station at night where you can choose from a wide variety of seafoods
Nice place but a bit overpriced”
I spent one night at Lost Horizon and they gave me a nice discount when I upgraded to the sea view room from 4,795 pesos to 4,000 pesos. The view is really great and we had an outdoor deck to relax and such. Yet I felt the price could have been under 4,000 pesos since it was very good, not great. The resto-bar has a good breakfast and the evening cover band was pleasant. Overall, I would stay here again but the lower-priced rooms are the better deal.
