Unique, gorgeous hotel.”
More than somewhere just to stay, Loy La Long was a beautifully, artfully designed, unforgettable experience in a sanctuary on the water, quiet, but minutes away from the creative madness of Chinatown, my favourite lace in Bangkok.
Cool, Charming Boutique B&B”
One of the coolest places I've ever stayed! Located along Chao Phraya River, with water lapping underneath the floorboards, this boutique hotel has art, great views, delicious breakfast and cocktails. We got to stay for 2 nights during our honeymoon in the Black Room/Rm 2. Room was clean and comfortable. We arrived after a long travel day and had a bit of difficulty finding the place. Hotel is located behind/in a temple (Wat Prathoomkongkha). Our taxi driver found the temple with GPS. We got out and then walked to the right entrance of the temple - you have to walk around the parking lot till you get to the back of the temple, then find a small alley lined with bikes. Look for the Loy La Long sign. We were greeted warmly and served chilled lemongrass tea. The staff was great and the views along the river were perfect. It's a short walk to the Hua Lamphong MRT/metro station and China Town night market. If you want quiet while you sleep, this is not the place for you. Highly recommend!
Soak it in because you’ll never get enough ”
It’s pricey but so worth it for a night or 2. Accommodating staff, charming rustic atmosphere, and a view you’ll never forget.
Bohemian Boutique Chic ”
If you like this kind of thing, view, dark hard wood floors, chill bohemian boutique, down to earth, kind, smart and sensible service, then you can do no better, I'd say. Every room is different, but all are charming. Book with some notice so that you can select a river view... sunset is worth it! This is a wonderful place to take a break from the hustle of the city and surrounded by a temple and monks' quarters surely helps the vibe. Full Marks.
Unbelievable boutique hotel, one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed. Beautiful views and friendly staff. A little tricky to find - you have to go into the parking lot of the temple to find it. Also the boats passing by will keep you awake until at least 10pm, no big deal for us bc we really enjoyed watching all the boats go by. I would only stay in this hotel if I had a river view, also book the top floor rooms with balcony access. One side note - We did find it strange that someone went through our bags pretty thoroughly, nothing was taken but as always take care of your belongings.
Sleep with the water lapping beneath you”
When we arrived late at night after almost 24 hours of travel, we were greeted with cold tin bowls of delicious iced tea and sat peacefully in a large room on stilts over the water, with one side open to the river. We were absolutely in Thailand, and it was perfect. Our bedroom was air conditioned and had every amenity we needed, and we could watch the whole vast life of the river slipping by at every moment as we lay in bed. The staff are as kind and attentive and you could wish for and the place is beautifully styled, utterly Thai, quirky and delightful. A wonderful way to get to know the city. Please do have them arrange the canal tour with Captain Kao for you; there's no better way to spend an afternoon in Bangkok.
Small, romantic hotel near the river”
A lovely small hotel near the river. Feels like a secret getaway in bustling Bangkok. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the rooms are quaint and comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again!
Enchanting, peaceful haven with spectacular river views”
We were right at home from the first moment in this romantic, picturesque refuge on the river. Watch Bangkok sail past as you listen to the water gently lap beneath you. Staff are extremely considerate and have great recommendations: by all means do book the canal tour! Two-minute walk to the bustling heart of Chinatown.
Absolutely fantastic little quaint hotel, staff are amazing, location is incredible and... ”
The food is absolutely fantastic. The staff were nice enough to take us to a temple on a national holiday where we seen far more of the culture than we could have hoped to have seen otherwise. The girls working were very friendly and helpful, we left for a flight very early and they even made us packed lunches for the day! Cannot recommend highly enough and would definitely go back!
Hidden Gem in BKK”
Oh my gosh I loved this hotel. My husband and I only stayed for one night and we both agree it was one of the highlights of our 2 week long Thailand vacation. The property is beautiful, the service is amazing and it added a whole other level to our trip. I regret we were only able to stay for one night. The only downside, and it is not enough to keep my from staying here again, is that there is no pool. That would have made this hotel utterly perfect. However it is located right on the river with gorgeous views of a pagoda on the opposite bank, wonderful staff and service, and breakfast was exceptional. We are already planning another trip to Thailand in a few years simply because we want to stay here again. That says a lot since it is a 21 hour flight for us. I definitely recommend the Loy La Long Hotel!
Charming, nothing like other options in the area”
If you want a big hotel with all the services look elsewhere, but if you want a charming taste of Thai life in a building overlooking the river, this small hipster hotel (more like a B&B, with about 8 rooms) is a unique and different option in the Chinatown area. It's hidden away inside a temple's grounds (tell cab drivers the temple, they don't know the hotel) on the water, trading the noise of car traffic for longtail boats going by. The rooms are quirkily attractive and comfortable, while the friendly staff makes you feel very much at home. Best of all is being served a fresh breakfast on either level overlooking the river as its traffic goes by. Recommended for those who want something a little different and laidback in Bangkok.
I arrived at the hotel around 8am and while I could not yet check into my room, they fed me breakfast, let me take a shower (as I had just arrived off a long-haul flight) and stored my bags while I explored in the morning. They were so very kind and suggested things to do in Bangkok and near the hotel. I want to go back to Bangkok just to stay here for a few nights! I would suggest at least two nights as being at the hotel is an experience in and off itself! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
I really don't want to share this, but being an avid traveler and counting on other travelers sharing their best experiences I think I have to. Sharing is caring! One night in Bangkok. Travelling from Cambodia I planned to spend one night in Bangkok. I love Bangkok! I looked for a smaller hotel with a nice feel and stumbled upon this little gem. Everything about Loy La Long makes you feel special. Like you know something others don't. A secret place hidden behind a temple. The taxi driver (and I) looked for quite some time before we found it. For a regular place that would be annoying, with Loy La Long it's part of the experience. It started with their website. It's different and sets the level of expectation. Especially if you're looking for quaint and personal. When I was searching for the "secret entrance" in a narrow alley I was met by the next door neighbour sitting outside playing with a little kid. She smiled and pointed at the door next to hers, and there it was. The gatewa
little piece of Bangkok paradise ”
Loy La Long is a beautiful place to stay in Bangkok. The teak house has charm, comfort, amazing views and an at-home feel. The staff are very kind and I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful location and feel peace in the crazy city.
very nice guesthouse, fantastic river views. Also good food.
The place is hard to find but you will still get there if you use google maps.. This place really have that village kind of vibes. A place where is away from those crowds, away from those busy tourists.. Just a cool chillz moments. The view is beautiful. The river view is so cool. You can see all those boats, ferry passing by... The breeze is so breathtaking... Day & night, Rain or shine is still beautiful from my experience. I got the black room which is at first floor.Everything is so comfortable. Staffs is very friendly & lovely. Overall stay is so niceeee & unforgettable!
A lovely peaceful getaway”
This is a lovely quiet and quirky place to stay. The staff are great and the whole place is very relaxing, It is very popular and difficult to book a room at short notice. Consequently it isn't cheap and you pay for the quirkiness over facilities. We loved the terrace and peaceful relaxing areas. It is located within a temple complex in Chinatown and can be difficult to find but the better and quieter for that. There are cheaper 'chain' or 'standard' type hotels which would have things like a pool but this place has character and for us was worth the money. Not 5 star luxury but a peaceful, unique hidden gem.
We are in group friends, the hotel is nice very thai. But the location is a little bit hard to find. The taxi driver is doesn't know this place, because this hotel is inside temple area. But the hotel is good, very nice environment.
This is a 'must' in Bangkok. The location is amazing, the hotel is quirky and interesting, the food great and the staff wonderful - friendly, efficient and happy! The dinner cruise boats (loud Karakoke!) could be a nuisance but add to the atmosphere - they seem to stop about 11 pm anyway... Highly recommended
Little gem of a hotel with a personal touch”
Fell in love with this hotel at first sight. We were a group of 3 girls traveling together. Hotel was located in a the nook of BKK, so that made it feel like we've discovered a hidden gem - and a gem it was indeed. The dorm we stayed in was really cool and spacious and had a cool bathroom. Breakfast the next day was made to order - and we had it by the Chao Praya river - beautiful view for breakfast. It was also very peaceful at night - you'll just sit there by the river and watch the boats cruise by. We had the hall to ourselves when we stayed there and we watched the DVDs which were there for us to choose from while we enjoyed a cuppa milo which were just left at the kitchen for us to make. Very homey feel to this hotel which we loved. Don't expect a butler to be at your service - you have to make yourself feel at home. Only downside was the location - roads are pretty dark and lonely at night for 3 girls to be walking on, so best bet is to take a cab or tuk tuk. Highly recommended!
