Good, but the noise made sleeping difficult.”

I booked this hotel for my parents for a day shopping trip to Richards Bay. The room was clean and smartly appointed. My father is in a wheelchair and the room and bathroom were both perfect for him. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, my parents were staying in room 107 - and the noise coming from other guests in a lounge-esque area near the room was horrific. The irony was that there was a sign asking guests to keep the noise down after 20:00; but the staff did nothing to stop them until about 11pm when they were eventually asked to leave. When asked, the staff said that my parents could have called security (my parents did not know this), but the commotion was in full view of the staff. Other than that, the staff was very pleasant and the stay was lovely; definitely recommend!

Every thing was well with our accommodation except that as we were 3 persons in each room only 2 bath towels were given. When we rang up housekeeping they took a very long time to come thus we had to ask reception. We did not have breakfast or dinner at the hotel.

Room was furthest point from reception and every night I came back to the room I had to walk all the way back to reception as my card stopped working. Very noisy housekeeping not respecting the do not disturb sign om my door. Asked for linen to be changed upon arrival as the bedding had stains on them. TV channels also blurred and went away on a regular basis and all radio channels on the TV aimed at vernacular speaking guests.

Very comfortable - great value”

We spent 2 nights at the hotel to rest up from our overseas travel, and meet up with family before continuing our travels in KZN. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff was great, and there is a nice bar and restaurant. The hotel is a bit off the beaten track, and unless you are driving you will need to take cabs to and from the waterfront for restaurants and entertainment.

Short but very pleasant stay”

our stay was short, only one night, (breaking our journey as it we were traveling north for safari) but wonderful. we were greeted at the richard's bay airport by the shuttle driver who did a wonderful job assisting with the massive amounts of luggage our party had. we were then shuttled to the protea hotel, spotting some monkeys along the way (an exciting start to our adventure)! upon our arrival the reception staff was friendly and efficient, making our party feel welcome from the start. they were also able to provide outlet adaptors for our low battery electronics, something everyone in our party was grateful for. later in the evening our group met up in the bar area where the atmosphere was relaxed and we were met with great service and provided with great recommendations. we then segued into the restaurant for dinner. there was a tempting buffet option however we opted for the menu entrees as they were too inviting to pass up. after dinner we adjourned back into the bar area where the staff was again gracious and wonderful. the rooms were comfortable, especially because there was air conditioning and the decor of the property was chic and playful. our checkout was quick and painless, again attributed to the efficiency and courtesy of the reception staff. i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the richard's bay area!

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star. More like a 3.5 start. Needs painting outside and all the furniture is worn out. (except for the rooms) The restaurant I give a low 3 star. The chairs cushions is terrible and very old. All the furniture is badly worn. Food is excellent, staff too!

Great location and friendly staff”

Very disappointed with the service from the spa at the hotel I had booked an appointment for a full face and leg wax for 10 when I get there the lady that's waxing comes in late at about 10:10 than let's me know know that I had not made a booking comes to realise that my details were taken down incorrectly and with out notifications they had taken the liberty to cancel my appointment. And I had stayed in room 163 there was a cockroach crawling around the room and when I got up in the morning to have a shower there was 4 baby cockroaches crawling around in the tub. The toilet dis not flush properly when flushed the water sat at the top of the toilet did not go down. Very disappointed with the service provided from the spa, and was extremely disappointed with the room and bathroom situation as well. I have taken pictures of the cockroaches as well if required

Well situated. Direction board well indicated. Safe secure parking. Food and drinks very exspensive. Warm mineral water in rooms without any ice buckets. Ice charged at a rate. Once booked online you become exluded from being their primary guest.

Housekeeping is pathetic the cleaners don't take their time to ensure cleanliness. Under beds around tables in the shower. Glass doors around the hotel not well cleaned. The drop off entrance was dirty from the day we arrived even a week later when we left.

Inadequate facilities”

Rooms have no Mini fridge Bar yet guest are given complimentary fresh milk & bottled water. Our milk went sour and the bottled water was lukewarm (in Summer). Breakfast is very expensive (R175 pp). We requested for Halaal food and we were given chicken stir fry for breakfast😳 The swimming pool is a joke, I've never seen such a small swimming pool in any house never mind in a hotel.

The hotel was not as I thought it would be. toilet seat was defective, the bed was not balanced as it did not have supporting feet. the airconditioner does not have a heating fuction. only set of towels to be used by one person , problem when it is a couple. Breakfast was not to the standard i thourt it would be. The staff is doing their best with the small resourses they have and bring the best out of it.

The whole stay experience was very indifferent, service in bar and restaurants was poor, food quality below par. Aircon was leaking permanently, corridors were full of left room service trays for up to 24 hours. Bathroom (shower) comfort not even worth of a 2 star hotel. reception efficient but no passion nor friendliness. You get a sense that no one cares, and after leaving after 3 days no one asked neither if we enjoyed our stay

The hotel has the tiniest pool any hotel I have been to has. Our bathroom had not been cleaned properly on the day of check in and I had to complain when the next day it still wasn't cleaned adequately. The room was small, but had all the basic amenities. The TV did not have a menu telling you what was currently on. And as the weather was bad we spent some time in doors watching tv. But we had to consult a tv magazine and a card with channels that did not correspond to what was actually on tv.
