This place has a lot going for it: - It's in a good location, tucked away at the end of the peninsula containing the old town. It's on a road, but it's not busy. And you are well away from the scrum of the night market and the cheap restaurants and bars round there - but they are only a 10 minute walk if those are your thing. - Small but well appointed rooms. - Excellent welcome and briefing when we arrived, even though we were only staying one night. They gave us a really good maps of Luang Prabang. Have a look at hobomaps.com. - Excellent in-room brochure of the hotel and of what to do in and around Luang Prabang. But one thing struck as as really bizarre. Do you have a urinal in your house? No, we neither. But every room has a urinal in its toilet. Sit on the toilet and it's staring at you from two feet away. As a man, I found it really off-putting; my wife found it even worse. Especially as the whole bathroom area is pretty small.

our stay at lotus villa was one of the most enjoyable of our 3 weeks in asia. the location is just superb being in the centre of the old town and the hotel offers everything you could expect for the standard it aims for. (note: it is not a 5 star hotel and it doesn't try to be - it is a very good quality gorgeous looking hotel with beautiful buildings and rooms that does breakfast very well). the interaction with the staff was very good and they recommended somewhere around the corner when we enquired about riding bicycles to get around town [a must do - the perfect way to see luang prabang]. we also had the pleasure of chatting a few times over breakfast with one o the owners who gave us a much better insight to luang prabang as well as some fascinating stories about how luang prabang has developed. he was also a wealth of info re q's we had about where we wanted to visit while we were in town. we enjoyed our stay so much we extended our time and didn't leave lotus villa until 2 days later than originally expected.

This is one of the hotel where picture form the website does not lie. There are many hotels where picture from the web looks so much better than the room but in this hotel, it is not the case. In fact, the actual look of the room and overall feel is better than the picture seen on the website. The room is not large but not too small either. Despite not being large, it is very cosy and great detailed and attention is paid to the furnishing of the room. Actually, the small size of the room make it even more cosy. The bathroom is also very well designed. The hotel lobby also very stylishly designed in colonial style with a billiard table for a game of pool. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant because the restaurant has such a great location overlooking the Nam Khan river. For those who prefer a indoor environment, you could also dine at the very stylish hotel lobby. The superb rooms and restaurant of the hotel is complimented by the generosity of the staff. I was upgraded to a deluxe room( i booked a superior room) with river view when i asked for a room on the second floor as all the superior rooms are located on the first floor. I highly recommend this hotel even though there are many good hotel in Luang Prabang. I am highly satisfied with what i get for the price i paid for and will not hesitate to return when i visit Luang Prabang again. One note of caution though: The bed rooms are bath rooms are joined no door for the bathroom, so there may be some privacy problem for some travelers. This hotel i my opinion is designed towards couples.

Khoum Xieng Thong Boutique Villa was a delightful haven to stay at for my 4 nights in Luang Prabang. Mr Bill was very efficient in managing my arrival & departure, having a taxi to meet me at the airport upon my arrival & a tuk tuk for my departure (could also store my luggage for the day before leaving for my night flight). The banana pancake & mango shakes for breakfast are delicious. Rooms are spacious. The shower in the bathroom needs updating but everything else in the room is in order. Some travellers have mentioned the temple next door & early morning sounds made by the monks. I personally found it joyful & not disruptive. Why do we travel anyway? Certainly not to have everything be "like home". There is also a water filter/dispensing machine in the communal/breakfast area so I could refill my own bottle without having to keep using plastic bottled water. Something I applaud Mr Bill for doing. I am a tea drinker & could also help myself to as much tea I wanted.A lovely place

This is quite a new hotel in Luang Prabang. There are many guest house style hotels in the town, but most are quite old. This one was well designed and enjoyable to stay. The staff was pleasant and gave excellent service. Breakfast was basic, but served off the menu and made to order. Wireless internet is available in the rooms, but our room was a bit too far from the router, so we had to walk into the hallways to get a signal. The hotel is located at the end of the town, but still only 10 minutes walk to the main area. Actually being on the outside of the main town area was pleasant, as it was very quiet and more private.

Wonderful location, in the old town. Close to several temples; convenient if you want to join the morning alms ceremony. Easy walk to any place in old town. The room we had was absolutely beautiful. Big, bright, and airy. Our room overlooked the river, which was an added bonus. The furnishings were top-notch. Incredibly quiet at night. The best sleep we've had in a long long time. Service was excellent. When we had an issue, the front desk responded immediately. Breakfast was at the famous Le Banneton Cafe, which is a must visit if in Luang Prabang. Excellent value and highly recommended.

Apsara is just one street (3 mins walk) behind the main old town street which is great because you don’t always want a crowd eg Night Market at your very doorsteps. Reasonably sized rooms, and very huge toilets for the Standard Downstairs Rooms. It also faces the river. This street appears to be slightly more “upclass” than the mainstreet in Old Town filled with small shops, tour agencies. Would consider this boutique accommodation, prices are not expensive but perhaps a bit higher than average expected for South East Asia or even its immediate neighbours in Thailand and Cambodia. Luang Prabang however is more beautiful than Bangkok or Siem Reap, so.

I booked this hotel on line and that's always a bit of a raffle however was very happy there. On the quiet side of the peninsular that is Luang Prabang old city but still close to the restaurants and shops. Nice breakfast included with very friendly family style service. Noy who runs the hotel for her parents is extremely capable person who can help you with tours, arranging transfers and money exchange, she even negotiated a big discount for me when I went up river and missed my ferry back. Have already booked my son and daughter in law there for their visit soon, If there's a "con" the beds like a lot in Asia are on the firm side. Looking forward to returning as Luang Prabang is a jewel to be experienced.

Have nothing but praise for this charming hotel in Luang Prabang. Its location was excellent, close to excellent restaurants such as L'Elephant and Blue Lagoon-- and cafes on the Mekong. Most rooms are a reasonable size but don't get the one near reception. (I was shifted after I complained about the noise). Only small criticism was the lack of a refridgerator. Everything else was of a good standard, including friendly staff who spoke reasonable English.

It was actually house. But I got to say it is way more better than five star hotel. I have been Laos last year also, and I stayed really expensive hotel. But this villa is another level. They served our breakfast one by one picked up from hotel to villa, and the guard makes me feel really safe(even though the front door of villa doesnt look safe). They have nice 4 bicycles just for us, and every time we call the hotel to pick us up, they arrived in at least 20minutes. The main hotel's pool was awesome and the massage was great. But unfortunately, Just one thing. The hotel's restaurant was not affordable. I failed pretty much dishes kkk. The noodle was so sweet and spicy. Anyway, if I go to Laos, Luangprabang again, definately not doubt and no hesitate to come again. It was so fantastic, like a dream. Gosh I want to go back the time I first arrived. And thank you my bf and his daughter and I wish we live happily ever after.

Second time in Luang Prabang. This time I have choosen the Villa Lao Wooden House, because the place I stayed before was booked out already. Was a good choice. Very well situated in the center of Luang Prabang, close to the Mekong river. Room was good, spacious and comfortable and most of all clean. Friendliest staff I have ever seen, nothing was too much and always smiling. Breakfast simple, but good, everything was there. Whatever you could think of was available, taxi service to the airport, excursions, safe in the room, it all was there. I remember 1 evening I came in to go to my room, they were changing 3 rooms. I asked what the probem was and they answered that they were expecting a group of single ladies, who did not want to sleep in a double bed and they needed singke beds. They went all over the village to get singke beds, although in the reservation this was not entioned! That is what I call service. Next time my hotel will be the "Villa Lao Wooden House"

Basic but clean and comfortable accommodation with air con, mini fridge, free bottled water, firm bed, tv and desk. Enclosed shower unit. Wifi was spotty in room but strong in lobby. Friendly and helpful English speaking staff will help with your plans. Highly recommended. Located two minutes from the Mekong River on one side and five minutes from the Nam Khan River on the other. Many Buddhist temples, French cafes, local and western style restaurants in the vicinity. The old town of Luang Prabang is absolutely gorgeous, but it's not party central, so most riverside restaurants close at 10pm or earlier in the slow season.

I was moved by Agoda from a sub-standard hotel in Luang Prabang which charged about 30% more than Villa Oudomlith. The manager at Villa Oudomlith is Vietnamese and really understands customer service. He, and his no. 2 - Tuan - really go the extra mile. NOTHING is too much trouble. He has invested heavily in this and 2 other hotels in Luang Prabang and is really offering a great service. The hotel is excellently situated. Close to the night market and equidistant to the two flows of the river which course around the promontory which is Luang Prabang. You can be at all the main sites within a matter of minutes on foot or by bike. 6 mins walk tot he night market. The hotel provides a good selection of breakfast options and Tuan is always on hand following a day's sightseeing to offer a complementary fruit juice on return. Rooms are fine - excellent shower rooms. Next door is Big Brother Mouse. If you are a native English speaker or have English to a good standard then take the opportunity to pop in morning or evening to meet local Laos who wish to improve their language skills. You don't need teaching experience but a sense of what each learned wants / needs to improve. Some Laos are a little hesitant about speaking as they are afraid of making mistakes and appearing - in their eyes - foolish. So you may have to tease them out. This is a great way of meeting local Lao students and novice monks. Any help you can offer in terms of English practice is really appreciated - given that the state version is very much wanting. You'll enjoy staying at this hotel. I highly recommend it.

Great hotel, with clean rooms and a professional feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed eating breakfast on our balcony, over-looking the river. The hotel restaurant had very good food, the best of all the places we tried in Luang Prabang. We were greeted when we arrived with a drink of hibiscus juice, something I had never tried and now will be hunting for everywhere we go! Comfortable room, although it could do with somewhere to hang towels in the bathroom itself, particularly a hand towel. The room we stayed in had a balcony, which was a lovely spot to sit and watch the world wander past. The hotel has free bike hire and this was my favourite activity while we were staying in Luang Prabang. A wonderful way to see the town and surrounds.

me and my wife enjoyed the stay at the hotel very much. the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. the location is excellent. most of all tourist attractions as well as restaurants and cafes were within walking distance. breakfast was also excellent, especially laotian dish which was very refined in european way. also enjoyed watching and photo-taking of the march of monks which proceeds just in front of the hotel while eating breakfast. unfrtunately the room was little cold at night even with air-con on. could be unbearable if the temperature go lower. our room was on the ground floor of the main building. footsteps were heard form upstaires but bearable level. nevertheless rooms upstaires are recommendable. price of the room was very high in the standard of bangkok hotels where we live, but this point is uncomparable to other hotels in luang prabang. the staff were very friendly but limited with information regarding tours. we chose to be comfortable there and all in all we were satisfied.

I LOVED this place! Villa Nagara was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and conveniently located to all of the attractions I wanted to see. The staff doesn't speak much English, which is common in Luang Prabang. The wait staff that serves breakfast, however, speaks a bit of English and both of them are incredibly friendly. Many options were offered at breakfast, and I was happy with the food. The bed was very comfortable - a nice change from the super hard beds found in Thailand. In the reviews, some people complained about the size of the room, which is ridiculous. These rooms are large (even the smallest rooms) compared to rooms found throughout SE Asia. The Internet isn't reliable, but after talking to other visitors in the area, it's not reliable anywhere. Overall I have no complaints about this hotel, I was very impressed and will stay here again if I find myself in Luang Prabang again. Be sure to check out iplanet travel (when you walk out of Villa Nagara cross the street and turn right). Walk for about 5 minutes and on the left there will be a while building, this iplanet. Siphone and Touy are two of the kindest gentlemen that I've ever met. They'll help you arrange tours to the caves and the waterfalls, treks, whatever you want to do in Luang Prabang - they're awesome!

The Chang Inn is a very charming inn, with only a few rooms so you really feel like you're staying in someone's house. The rooms are so charming, colonial style, and spacious. The decoration throughout the hotel are antiques (including a very nice collection of clocks in the foyer). That being said, the rooms are not dark once you open the shutters. The best part was the large comfortable bed, and the rain shower that was so amazing. In the mornings, you can walk 2 minutes down to the waterfront and have breakfast outside with it's sister hotel the Burasari, with an amazing view over the Mekong. The cons would be that the hotel is right next to the biggest and most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang and every morning at 4am, VERY loud bells go off to wake up the monks. And then between 5.30 - 7am, you have tuk tuks, buses, tourists, vendors, everyone outside your window to watch the monk procession. That was a bit annoying... though we were always up for the procession in the morning. Lastly, the receptionist was very sweet but I think her English was very poor.

Recently renovated, Ancient Luang Prabang Hotel is a small, quaint hotel in a quieter side of the town. It might seem a little far from the main attractions on the map but the town is so small that it takes just minutes to get anywhere you want on foot or bike. After a treacherous bus ride from the border to Luang Prabang, we arrived at 3AM. The town shuts down at 11:30PM so it was comforting to see our room was available upon our arrival. We budgeted a little more on this visit as Laos is generally more expensive than Thailand or Cambodia. I'm happy we decided to spend a bit more because the room was clean, showers were hot and beds were comfortable. Staff is super helpful, friendly and all speak English very well. Pon was wonderful, teaching us a few Lao phrases and organizing a free ride to the airport. Breakfast and free wifi was included in our rate and the breakfast was fresh and filling. Choice of tea/coffee and fruit salad with yogurt/omelette with ham & bread/egg on English muffin/bagel with egg & ham. Fruit salad was fresh and filling if you are looking for something light. Wifi worked in the lounge/cafe area but that was where we needed it most. Monk Walk happens right outside the hotel every morning at dawn. You can sit out on your patio and watch the locals pass distribute bits of sticky rice to the monks as they make their way to the Wat. There are 2 locations so make sure you reserve your stay in the one closest to Wat Xieng Thong. Highly recommend to stay here if you are looking for a nice hotel with quality accommodations, friendly service and a low key location. Sister hotel is a nice spot to hit if you need a pee break on the other side of town.

The best ideal location to stay at if you want to experience the quiet beauty of Luang Prabang. The balcony offers a surreal view of the Mekong River, and is a few minutes walk of the main market, as well as the opening to Mount Fousi. The atmosphere of the hotel itself is calm and serene. Bo, the attendant (also the chef, and possibly every single aspect of the hotel service) was extremely attentive, considerate and sincere. He was a huge factor in the quality of comfort I had staying here. I would highly recommend this hotel as the place to stay if you are touring Laos.

A very clean guesthouse which is well located in the old town of luang prabang. Mini bar / tea making facilities are not provided in the room but at the lobby of the guesthouse. No breakfast could be a setback for those who are first day in luang prabang. However for those who enjoy and like to explore the town, there are lots of nice local food in the town at affordable price.

This is a very good place for all Luang Prabang travellers. Located at the heart of the town, more then 200 Monks in different groups passed by the hotel in the morning at about 5.45 - 6.15 am. This is the high light of Luang Prabang. The hotel is clean and all facilities are working well. Massage service is just next door and operates from 8.30 am to 10 pm. This hotel makes you feel very at home where the gate are closed after mid night. The owner and staff were really friendly and willing to help and assist in anyway they can. After collecting the key, the staff carried out a briefing of Luang Prabang town and this saved us from asking same old questions. Taxi to air port just waiting outside the hotel with reasonable price without any extra charges. I will surely highly recommend this hotel to all Luang Prabang visitor. This is Our most excellent stay in Laos !

I booked two rooms at Villa Laodeum in November 2014 for 4 nights while holidaying in Luang Prabang with my mum and two sisters. We all absolutely LOVED our stay here, everything was perfect. The hotel is located in what I think is the best area of Luang Prabang. It is along the Nam Khan river, which is much quieter than the Meekong and also a lot cleaner, nicer buildings and surroundings. It is within easy walking distance of everything to see in Luang Prabang. The staff here were so helpful, friendly and kind, they really made our stay very special. They were always up for a chat and were able to recommend places to see and organise drivers/vans for us who would turn up in less than 5 minutes. They also upgraded our second room so that our rooms were side by side and we had the front garden/balcony overlooking the Nam Khan river to ourselves. The villa is small with only a handful of rooms, which we found really nice because we would chat with the other guests at breakfast. Breakfast was served on the terrace along the river opposite the hotel and is a really beautiful and peaceful setting. Luang Prabang itself in November was splendid. The weather was beautiful and it didn't rain. It was warm enough by 9am to swim in the surrounding waterfalls and I highly recommend taking a trip to Tad Sae to ride the elephants in the waterfall (recommended by the hotel). There are also lots of delicious restaurants along the Nam Khan with beautiful settings, we really enjoyed "The Terrace" for dinner. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Luang Prabang. You won't be disappointed!

I have a really comfort and nicest stay at Peninsula Villas when I travelled to Luang Prabang. The bed is nice, the room is extremely clean and tidy, and the location i can say is the best and I was lucky choosing to stay here, Peninsula Villas is situated right in the center of Luang Prabang old town, BUT out of the chaos of tourist activities and offering me a very quiet and comfort stay in this charming small old town. The service offering by staffs are excellent, they are very friendly and helpful and the most important is, they are always smiles!

This is an excellent place to stay in Luang Prabang. I looked at a variety of guesthouses, and this one had the most positive energy. It was quiet, peaceful and clean. The rooms are very comfortable. The sisters who run the guesthouse are very kind. And the location is incredible. I didn't want to be close to the party backpacking scene, but wanted time for myself to do my reading and artwork and this was the perfect place. They make a free breakfast for you and that is really nice. I would highly recommend Ouis.

The villa is lovely hotel in the old town a stones throw away from the river. Staff are super friendly and helpful and organised a bike, a boat trip and transport to the airport on departure. Its beautifully furnished and clean hotel with a nice traditional villa garden. I would highly recommend this villa as a place to stay and we will be returning on our next visit.
