Isolated from everything ”
I spend 4 nights at Luca’s lodge , the price was good and the food not bad . A big minus goes to the location because it’s very remote and you have to walk 10 min to get the first triciclo to the down town . Avoid

Serenity at its finest”
Best three things about this hotel: Food, Location and Cost or Value for Money
As always, Luca's made me feel welcome and relaxed. The place's quiet beach and the authentic Italian food has always drawn me to it. I couldn't ask for more.

Relaxed stay at the end of the world”
beach, restaurant, quiet place
The guesthouse is at the end of the road, end of the beach, end of the world - there are only mountains behind it. That creates a wonderful hideaway place to stay. The lodge itself is divided into few 2-storey buildings attached to each other and connected with terraces. It is just a down-roll to the sea. But i couldn't get rid of the idea that it was built few years ago and since then no maintenance was done around the rooms. We stayed in family room which had 2 double beds, fridge and TV but only one opened wardrobe for cloathes. Shower was only cold and very weak. WiFi connection was available for free but quite irregular. With little improvement it can give much better feel. We stayed in upstairs room which had beautiful sea view but was pretty hot. But A/C is available.

Quiet relaxing beach ”
Nothing much for hotel
First off the trike wouldn't take us to the nearest where to be dropped off we literally have to walk and hike in the dark just to get to the beach front and walk a few still to the resto. I've been to Luca resto beach before and I always enjoy the good there always! But the hotel was a disappointment to me. Well the room is a standard family room.. Which is okay since ts cheap. But the CR was horrible! It smelled like sewer the whole time !!! I can't even sleep proper bec it reaks with the smell! And of course no choice but to use it. Then no more staff when resto closes at 10pm. So can't get any remove of room if ever. It did rain a little then when we wanted to go out for drinks everything is dead dark and done. I think it's only okay to eat here. Maybe stay in this beach but not his hotel.

Tired old italian themed beach hotel”
Beach, Sabang, Swimming
This tired old Italian themed hotel is lacking in maintenance by the owners who just seem to lie around and do nothing. The room they gave us was so hot even when the aircon was on and the room was very average. The food is not really very good and we tried their seafood pizza which was a big disappointment as it was full of mussel shells that had sand in it and after that not much else. There are other much better places down the beach to stay. You need to carry your bags as their is a very steep climb to get up and down from the hotel

Slow service if any”
Silent location, quite spacious family room for 2 person, close to the beach
Poorly managed resort. There were actually no service though there were lots of personnel e.g. in restaurant. Personnel were discussing together, sleeping on tables or playing with mobile phones. Our room was not cleaned even requested so we gave then trash bag to them. But still after that nothing happened. garden area was dirty e.g. used diapers, empty bottles to name a few. Location is silent so if you any action this is not your place or you need to arrange transportation always elsewhere. But arranging things in this place... Food was good but that criteria is not enough after this experience to go back again or recommend this to anyone. We didn't expect any luxory but this was not even close that we were expecting to get with that cost.

Great location but poor service”
Few tourist. Nice location so peaceful, nice beach.
When we arrived no receptionist, we had to look for her. The lodge has no formal reception area. Although ana was accommodating too. the room was not available for my companions. Had to wait to let some guests to check out. No much privacy the windows have no curtains just see thru native makeshift curtain. When somebody was walking and talking it could be heard inside the room. The shower head had some rusts, sink in the bathroom had no water. The restaurant serves nice food but the service is too poor. Served the food one by one, like a beer, juice and water. It's like everything s cooked even the water...lol.... the quantity of the food served is enough. The price s okay.

Absolutely appalling from start to finish. Avoid!”
Close to Talipanan Falls and Mangyan village
The bedding was extremely poor - pillows appeared to be stuffed with old newspaper! and the terribly uncomfortable mattresses smelt awful. Lackluster housekeeping (cockroaches in the room on arrival, stained sheets, bad smell from bathroom sink) made this our worst accommodation experience in the Philippines. We have stayed at real budget properties that left this place for dead. We were extremely surprised by how far the standards have slipped in the restaurant, which turns out cold, tasteless imitations of Italian food at a snails' pace. And that's only if you can manage to convince one of the indolent waitresses to serve you in the first place. It does not matter how long you sit at a table, whether you greet the waitresses as they walk past you, or even wait at the bar for service, they are completely indifferent to customers. Approaching the bar, we would have to wait 5 minutes for the girls to finish their conversation in Tagalog before asking "What?". This is especially poor considering the bar is also the reception and information desk. This did not happen once or twice, but every single time. Meanwhile, Luca sits at the main table drinking and smoking all day, not blinking an eyelid at the appalling standard of service. Poorly maintained, basic facilities show that nothing has been reinvested into the place and the owners have clearly lost the passion they once had for hospitality. If you can't stay anywhere else, be aware that Talipanan beach is polluted and it has the same touts hassling you as everywhere else. Seaweed and current make the ocean uninviting, and many tricycle drivers will refuse, or request more money for, the steep ascent up the rocky access road. Bear in mind that transport rates are already exorbitant because of the remote location, and at night you can expect to pay double. Overall, I would recommend staying anywhere else, even if it means forfeiting a payment at Luca's. Cannot understand how or why it is still in business.

service well below average”
location was out of the way, if you like quiet, its got it
No room service for three day stay, staff is clueless, and after charging food to my room, final bill was totally incorrect, staff is not considerate, minimum effort if any. Fortunately hotel next door, had a good bar and service, so hung out there during day. Food was good, not spectacular italian as noted. Lodge is not built well, can hear next door, and floor shakes from hallway. With a little effort this could be a very good place, right now, not.

Basic rooms but adequate”
Beachfront, free wi-fi
Luca's Lodge offers basic rooms but they have everything you need really for a couple of days by the beach. One strange thing was that the rooms had two double beds, but only provided a single size blanket (a sheet) for both beds. I found the restaurant over-rated, but the Lodge is in a nice, peaceful location so I would stay again.

Great quiet location on the beach.”
On the beach....very good Italian restaurant.
The hotel rooms are quite average but, if you want a very quiet location on the beach, this is the right hotel. The rooms do have cable tv, aircon, and wifi. The food at the Italian restaurant is very good with extra large portions. I will go back when I need some "me" time!

Beautiful beach, good rooms and great restaurant”
Best beach, quiet place, nice rooms, great restaurant and pleasant staff
I chose this hotel because in one of reviews on agoda I've read that Talipanan beach is better then White beach. And it is true. The beach near Luca's Cucina Italiana & Lodge is much more quiet than in White beach. At the same time the waves at White beach were rather high when in Talipanan beach they were rather quiet. The water is very clear, the view is just beautiful. The beach starts right from the hotel and the restaurant is only few meters from the water. The room was spacious, had two beds - one big bed and one a bit smaller. It was very convenient because we had a child with us. The bathroom is small, but we had no problems with it. The room has aircon and it is not as noisy as in other hotels in Philippines. The restaurant is perfect! Try pizza, pasta and coffee. Probably the best I have ever tasted. And Luca and his wife Anna are very friendly people, as much as all other staff. They also have rooms for big families with many beds. The only inconvenience is that the hotel is far from shops and market. But if you can ride a motorbike it is not a problem. We had a 1 year old child and it was a problem for us, because we didn't like to take a tricycle. Trip to Puerto Galera by tricycle costs about 150 pesos one way. They do not accept payment by credit cards, so take enough cash with you. And the closest ATM is in Puerto Galera and threre are sometimes problems with VISA cards. So better to take cash with you from Manila or Batangas for example.
