"Pros: 1.) Great hosts. Very friendly and helpful. 2.) Clean beach just a few feet away. 3.) Cheaper stay. 4.) Limited rooms, quiter surrounding. 5.) "The Pandan Beach is a nice place with a clean (surprisingly) beach and nice warm water. We stayed at the hotel one night - most of the customers are locals who prepare there own meals, lot of children bathing in the sort of pool. Place is nice, quite clean, comfortable bed, the water was OK (rather warm), fan was sufficient to sleep through the night. There was no electricity in the morning so no hot water, no fan - it's the appeal of the place :). We went there for the Gunung Gading park (10 minutes drive) and to see the coast a bit - it's clean and warm sea, nice for bathing (shallow). The nearby little town of Lundu has nice food in the food market."
