Set on the tranquil island of Dhidhoofinolhu, LUX* South Ari Atoll offers one of Maldive’s most romantic resort destinations. With its location near Mamigili, you are close to the marine wildlife protected area where whale sharks can be spotted all year round. A 25-minute seaplane ride transports guests to the island, surrounded by some of the world’s finest diving sites. Guests can also choose from a numerous selection of exciting water sports, including kite surfing, which is available only on certain islands of the Maldives.
LUX* South Ari Atoll is also among the first supporters of the FenMaaDhiguRan Conservation Project and allows guests to participate in voluntary activities that helps protect the country's diverse marine life. Each of the spacious guest villas are equipped with superior amenities ensuring a comfortable stay. The eight restaurants serve a variety of exquisite international cuisines, while there are six bars offering refreshing cocktails along with some Mediterranean snacks. fantastic holiday ”
Scene is beautiful, the room is clean and sweet, the island has many kinds of choices of food, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, barbecue, seafood and more, many water sports you can do, book the cruise to find turtle, whale shark... Last but not the least, free coffee before 10:30, coffee lesson for coffee lovers
everything was perfect from the moment we arrived to the time we left the beach bungalows are amazingly private, though everything is suitably expensive when you get there. if you have to look at the price then you can't afford it here. loved every minute. worth every cent
This is our third time to the Maldives. We booked this very last minute & so availability was low. Overall it was a great holiday but didn't quite compare with other islands we have stayed at. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the Maldives then this is a great choice.
Pure Paradise in the Maldives ”
My husband and I had the best time staying at this resort in April. The service is impeccable and all the amenities top notch. Swimming with whale sharks and sea turtles is an added bonus to staying in this region of the Maldives as well. Will definitely return!
Superb hospitality and fabulous staff service ”
Best resort manager Mamoun delighted us always to make sure we are happy about every arrangement. Staff are extremely nice and helpful. Our housekeeper Mucho was very hardworking and never let us down.
5 stars***** experience overall!!! Definitely will go back again. [Waiting Lounge] upon arrival, we were being greeted by friendly Lux* staff who assisted us with our luggages to proceed to check in at Trans Maldivian Airline (Seaplane). We arrived Male at 11am and our seaplane ride departing at 1.30pm, hence we were being seated at their very comfortable VIP Lounge. [Seaplane Ride] i was 24th weeks pregnant during the trip, take off and landing were smooth, seaplane cabin was hot but bearable as only 30 mins from Male Airport-Lux* Maldives, noise is tolerable too. [Reception] we were assigned to a private receptionist who see thru our check in. hassle free. [Room] we stayed at beach pavilion with direct beach access. [Beach] clean with ample space of privacy [Travelling Around The Island] you can go by foot around the island, rent a bicycle or just hit a free buggy ride around the island. [Food & Beverages] food quality was good with varieties that satisfied Asian & Western [Water Sports/Activities] they have various kind of water activities and shore activities such as night movie screening by the beach, DJ sunset, volleyball.
A Dive Trip”
Very friendly staff, excellent rooms' housekeeping with direct beach access, excellent food variety for breakfast compared to other hotels, dive sites nearby with great visibility, the late checkout and seaplane timing was verygood too. The Arabic Resort Manager and Dive Manger and staff were helpful and keen to help, all the staff were keen to assist. The coffee and Ice cream quality were high. Excellent idea for the drinking water (glass bottles). Towels were so clean without smells, room hygiene was outstanding. The only thing needed is to increase the Wifi coverage and strengthen it in the restaurants, but good coverage in rooms and reception area. Dive sites with great visibility (3Meters) and near. Dive boat is quite big for relaxation and staff are quite assistants. I suggest to provide Dive professional photography like other resort. The seaplanes were good and smooth trips (arrival and departure).
Overall, our stay at LUX Maldives was delightful! The staff were very accomodating, the resort had plenty of activities lined up for the guests, and the food was great. The rooms were spacious and clean with comfortable beds and couches. The only regret my husband and I had with our stay at LUX Maldives was that we should have stayed longer!
Fabulous Resort Hotel!”
this review is long overdue. My girlfriend and I spent our baby moon at LUX* Maldives in July last year. We had a terrific time. The resort staff's excellent service was the best we've experience so far. We were treated like we were among friends and it was one holiday getaway we'll never forget. Will surely come back as soon as possible.
Beautiful place. Great stay. Excellent service.”
Our stay at Lux was perfect. Wonderful experience that manages to exceed our expectations even though we had really high hopes from a friend's recommendation. Staff were very friendly and always ready to cater our needs. Room was serviced twice a day so it remains clean throughout our stay. The special dining experience was great. For us, it was our first time having dinner by the beach and food was very nice. Good place for honeymooners and couples (even for proposal!). Will definitely come back here for a second trip.
Good value for first timer”
Generally, it is a good, value resort island for first timer honeymoon. However, the shortcoming are the following:- (a) Where we are staying on a water villa for the first 2 nights the sea water below the villa generally is clear. However, last 2 nights the sea water below the villa fill with some seaweed which makes us uncomfortable for us the swimming. (b) Wifi connection - generally within the villa itself will show connections however it is not stable and weak. (c) bell boy - on one occasion, we are on a club car drove by bell boy when we are calling him for direction he just ignore us and continue to talk to another of his bell boy friend. When I call him again on a angry voice then only he turn around and answering to us. (d) Water Sport Centre - we make reservation for some sport activities, confirmed and the next day when we walk over to the centre to do the said activities then only we were inform of the weather condition not availing the activities. We felt that they should have tell us of the cancellation due to bad weather instead of letting us to go to the centre then only being inform of the same. We felt the staff over the centre not welcoming and not friendly.
Nice and relaxing”
We stayed 3 nights from 8th February with my wife. The staffs were very attentive, always with a smile and willing to help. Food is mostly international, half board (breakfast and dinner , no drinks included 117usd/pax), full board ( all meals and all drinks listed on menu 170usd/pax), unless you drink alot of alcohol eg. wine, i would suggest to go half board. As we calculated you will pay lesser than 170USd/ pax if you don't drink a lot of alcohol. We stayed at water villa but a little pricey thou. free yoga session in the morning and also kayaking is complimentary.
Paradise on earth”
Great range of activities and amenities but also plenty of locations to relax and unwind without being surrounded by other guests. Super friendly staff are always willing to help and the food & wine selection was very diverse. A wonderful place to spend a week!
Lux Luxury in Paradise”
the lux maldives resort is a larger island, and due to this gives you more choice than some of the others we have stayed on. everything is of high quality in the resort and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who coped admirably with my husbands constant requests for things not on the menu! service really is top notch here and i can highly recommend the teppanyaki at umami (you have to pay extra for this if on a meal plan) and the italian restaurant allegria. senses, the asian fusion restaurant is also very good. the extra daily touches in the resort - the hidden bottle, ice cream service at the pool, hidden bar etc are nice little extra touches. the spa is also very good and i can recommend the energising massage. diving is excellent and was a highlight of the trip, dirk and the crew in the dive centre are very professional and courteous and diving with the whale sharks that can be found all year round in the ari atoll was a highlight of our trip. we have been to the maldives 8 or 9 times now, mostly to different resorts, and have only found one other resort (soneva fushi) that we would (and have) returned to, but we would definitely return to lux maldives agains.
The seat arrangements in the Italian restaurants”
The seatings for the Italian restaurants were unfairly distributed. The tables in the hallway with good lightings were all given to the whites. Even though others may have arrived earlier, they were not given the seats in the hallway. Please overlook this matter. This action could be considered as racism in some countries.
The Water Villas are best”
We stayed in the prestige water villas first and then transferred for the last 4 nights to the water villas. Wish we had stayed in the water villas all along as they are cheaper, but the same size room and terrace as the prestige villas, but they have the best reef, swimming and the cleanest water. No sea weed here. Shame we did not know and wasted our money on the prestige villa. The resort is big, rooms are well maintained and clean and the local staff really look after you. Downside is that you have to book everything, restaurants were booked up for days, so no evening meal except buffet. The free trip to the house reef was booked out a day in advance. The resort should do better, especially at the price they charge.
Nice Hotel but could be better”
This is a big resort and getting around can be an issue. Stayed at the Prestige Water Villas and this was a mistake. Although very clean and well equipped, half the villa space is the large bathroom. These prestige water villas are all at the far end of the resort away from the reception, water-sports & diving centre. So you either have a 30 minute walk or have to find a buggy to get there, and there are not enough buggies to take people. The food is good and there is plenty of it, but you pay a price as this is an expensive resort. You have to book your table at the a la carte restaurants quickly, some restaurants had no reservations available for 4 days. The pizza place closes if it rains, and also closes early, so you go for a pizza and find it closing at 5.10pm when it is supposed to be open to 6pm. That means limited in-villa dining is often the only option. The manta ray feeding and shark feeding are good events to see and you get to see this up close as the feeding is done right in front of you. The beaches have a sea weed problem which washes on the beach constantly.
Fantastic resort and staff”
The resort in itself is fantastic, great food and great staff who welcome you as soon as you step off the seaplane. We stayed in the water villa for 5 nights and it was brilliant. The only negative experience was that the Lux Maldives couldn't/didn't help arrange our transfer from from the resort we stayed at on Male island the night before.... despite me e-mailing and calling twice (expensive) to make sure. When i arrived at the Lux Resort desk at the airport the staff member did apologize but used the excuse that our Male Island hotel that we stayed in prior was new and he hadn't heard of it and couldn't find their info (a simple google search would have sufficed to find this information or call/reply back to me in e-mail).
great resort, great service, great vacation.....”
water villa was great....almost everything was great.....except samll things : the water villa could be a bit far from the island (depending on which villa you stay at).... but we rented bycicles so we did not hv to walk to the island and wait for the buggy shuttle... another thing that can be imrpove is the food at the east hotel.... the other buffet restaurant (the kitchen) is better in taste and variety although prices are the same.... the other ala-carte restaurants (i did not try unami) are pretty good.... and actually cheaper and more worthwhile than the buffet restaurants.... but breakfast buffet is fine..... sea sports cantre is great.... jet ski... etc was great...stay a min of 5 nights to really enjoy the resort... dont want to be rushed....
