You have to take a boat to go there, its free cause they offer free shuttle all day. the resort look new on the pictures but its actually very old and need a lot of renovation. It sure had his glory time but now its kinda creepy cause it’s huge but they’re nobody. the restaurant was expensive and not so good.
Best resort we've ever been to!”
The staffs are great, the location is just.. the best! We have to take the long boat to the resort, which I never experience before. When we had to leave at 5am, the staffs were very helpful & sent us to the bus station. It was really great experience!! I love this resort so much! Will definitely recommend to others
Preaceful stay at the resort”
After having the best sleep we had on our trip on a nice firm comfortable bed and on a quiet and peaceful resort, we began to really appreciate our stay. The host offered us a SIM card so we can use wifi anywhere we want. We began to get used to the boat ride and the bus shuttle into town, even it is a bit of commute. The resort was very accommodating wherever we want to go into town and anytime of the day including the morning trip to alms giving. The manager and his assistant were wonderfully helpful to everything including late check out and letting us to leave the luggage on the shuttle bus and meet up at a later time to catch the bus out of town. The breakfast is limited but it was tasty served by very pleasant servers. I was glad that I booked at the resort to appreciate the perfect stay instead of staying in town.
The host and his staffs were a great help. They have recommended good local food and assisted us to Kuang Si waterfall for a day trip. Everything was great though location may be slightly inconvenient but that did not hinder us from traveling to anywhere as they provide transportation services to certain location that you wish to go. Great one to Thui and everyone from the resort. 👍🏻
Stayed for 5 days 4 nights. The host was really friendly and helpful. Probably the best resort’s hospitality. Big room with daily cleaning. According to them, refurbishment will be done soon to the resort. Highly recommended to visit once it’s done.
Lovely quiet place at the other side of Khong river”
Lovely quiet place , the resort has the boat and van to take the guests to the town and pick up back to the resort, friendly staffs, lovely breakfast
Beautiful but secluded”
I would like to start with saying that the staff was so extremely acommadating and nice. That's definitely the best thing. However there was a language barrier since many of them spoke very little english. We still got around. My biggest concern is the shuttle service. They have a FREE one in to town.( place is in the other side of the river). You can use it whenever you want and I appreciate that! However, it does stop at 11 pm. So you can never be out later than that. But if that's not a problem for you than just ignore that. My other concern was that they don't really have a restaraunt on the premises. They say they do but it closes at 7-8 pm, before dinner. We were able to get room service one night and we did have lunch one time. It's completely empty of guests and staff in the "restaurant" but still it's really slow and overpriced. However I did love the included breakfast every morning and it was a relaxing place if you dont mind being away from the town! MANY stairs though.
Virs vidējā līmeņa”
The hotel is clean but not well maintained, kitchen is closed @7:30pm, simple pastas are @11$ (the most expensive of Luang Prabang), no bar, no wifi. Transportation to Luang Prabang is good. Staff is kind. But we left after 2 nights (5 booked !)...
Remote hotel that needs updating but friendly staff ”
The staff was very friendly. However, the facility is very dated and needs many upgrades. The shower head was in an awkward place, it was difficult to take a shower, and the shower did not have a door or shower curtain. Wifi was only available if you were able to obtain a portable wifi device, which only worked a few hours. Since the hotel is on the other side of town, you have to take their ferry boat to and from before taking a shuttle/van in to town. Not a big deal but some miscommunication in the first few days had is waiting around for 1/2 hour or so to grab the shuttle back to the ferry.
Location is perfect if you want a getaway close to nature. The river is just outside the property. With a deck that offers a stunning view of Luang Prabang. Excellent service, too. Great breakfast. With complimentary airport pick-up service. Highly-recommended!
Chanthavinh Resort a disappointing experience”
We booked a 4-5 Star resort with the expectation that it would meet international standards and meet the demands of the modern traveller. The website information is completely bogus. 1. There is no Spa only a swimming pool with two old dirty beds. Left overs from other guests are laying around. 2.The little houses around the pool are close to falling into pieces. Once a beautifull resort no maintenance for years in the tropics shows its marks. While sitting there your hands are itching to bring this place to its old state. From the Manager I understood that yes there will be renovation but when remains to be seen 3. The moment you arrive you want to return to the city. The transport from the resort to the city vv is done by a boat and a van and takes up to 30 minutes and is free of charge. Compliments for that! If you wish to leave staff will call the boatman and off you go. 4 Beware because of a lot of steps, no elevator this is not a place for guests with bad legs.
Don't stay - negligent manager. Employed staff lovely, manager - well, he wasn't one”
Pros: friendly staff, refund was given with NO argument or stress. Cons: No airport pickup as arranged, this eventuated to not be a biggie, sourced own way and establishment deducted the cost from stay. PLEASE READ - DO NOT STAY HERE. It is isolated and far from town. They have boat and shuttle service that runs (so they say to a schedule). As per the schedule I arrived at the pickup point at 9.45pm to wait for the 10pm shuttle. It didn't arrive. I rang manager, he said he'd ring driver, 45 min later I called again, he said the same. This continued for three more phone calls till eventually no response. I was fortunate in that I had a friend staying in LP at the time and went to their accommodation and stayed with them. However, had I not, this town closes early 11pm ish and basically by 12 lights are out everywhere AND IT WAS 12 BY THIS TIME. The following morning, I rang from 7am till 10.30am no one answered the phone. I can't write more because of size allowance - DON'T GO
The view is beautiful but the equipments are too old and very dirty
We had wonderful trip to Luang Prabang and our stay in Chathavinh really superb. The environment and hospitality really good.We will be more comfortable if the staff well verse In English.Other than that,it was amazing stay❤️
Miss the place already!”
We had a wonderful stay at the Chanthavinh! It's located outside of the city and on the wrong side of the Mekong River, but the resort's boat and van will take you into town and back any time. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. Every day they made our breakfast extra special. Only small problem is that the place needs some love. The roofs need repair, the bathroom needs a refreshment and the pool furniture needs to be fixed/ maintained. Apart from that the room and garden are both beautiful and there was an incredible Mekong river view from the balcony. So relaxing! Wifi was good (for local standards) and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Hope to be back soon!
Perfect for truly relaxation by just watching the river flow”
This resort is out of town but do not worry about the transportation. Free anytime for all your stay. The garden is real nice. Great food and customize to fit our preference. The GM is really friendly. He provides valuable information as per request. Comfortable room but rather old toilet. Stairs might be a problem for senior people or those with leg problem. You can visit nearby village with pottery service and feel the primitive living. With this price, it is unbelievable.
Really Enjoyed the Stay”
Room was overall great. Only area that needs an upgrade is the bathroom. Went during low season and resort was nearly empty. Breakfast was nice. The morning and evening views over the Mekong are amazing. It's a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Luang Prabang. Also, nice that there is an opening to the village next to the resort. Went to the local school and pottery making village area. Would like to say a nice word for the staff member named Yai. He was most helpful and made the stay extra special.
Super place if you want space and a large pool”
This place is lovely. Great view, excellent pool and gardens. One problem was we decided to go into town each day to get lunch and dinner because the menu was very overpriced. It is a shame because we would have happily spent most of our time, swimming, eating and drinking at the hotel restaurant, if it was a little more reasonable. However still had a lovely 4 days, swimming in the morning, exploring the town in the afternoons and evenings. Boat and bus service was very good and we could always get in and out of town no problem.
Friendly and attentive service, unparalleled location.”
This is a love or hate it hotel. However, for the kind of people who would visit Laos, this is almost certainly a plce they will love. The hotel is remote, you need to take a taxi for about 10-15 min and a boat across the Mekong to access. Once you are there, that's it. The hotel has workable wifi but a place like this is really meant to disconnect. The boat and taxi service (free with hotel) start as early as needed and close around 22:30, but so does almost everything else in town anyway. The owner (whose name I wish I took down) is very accommodating and more than happy to help you with any questions or needs you have. The backdrop is very beautiful and a truly unique experience. For those looking for something different and exciting without compromising on service and quality, this is it! We are happy to have booked this venue and if we return to LP this is where we will stay.
A rare beauty on the other side of river ”
Well, there is no Spa in this hotel despite the name. However, you should not missed this rare beauty, especially after you have spent some time in the hotel at the town center. Coming over to this side of the Meikong river really give you the feeling of staying in a heavenly place looking at Luang Prabang from the other side. Early morning breakfast is a must, wake up early before the sun rise and capture a glimpse of glowing fogs on the river surface, sipping your coffee waiting for the sun shine is the best moment in my entire trip. The hotel have good staff and excellent arrangement of transporting you over the river and shuttle you to the town center. To some, this maybe troublesome, but if you enjoy the process, the journey off going back to hotel is an enjoyable one. Is there any other place that you can take a boat and check in to your hotel? That alone get my kid excited!!! While the facilities in the hotel will required some upgrade, the oval swimming pool is well maintain. And you must walk to the pottery village just next door and get your hand dirty.
