The breakfast buffet is such a disappointment though the staff are helpful...
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
hotel is little beat old.location is near the metro station, breakfast is good, all the staff is trained and accomodating.the hotel is near to tesco.over all the hotel is ferfect for bussiness travelers.2 minutes walk to metro station.
Adequate sized rooms - good value at the price.”
this is the second time i have stayed at this hotel; on both occasions i have found it to be comfortable and quiet. there is generally at least one english speaking member of staff on duty either at reception or close by. all staff are friendly, pleasant and eager to assist (which is a positive trait generally not readily found in shanghai.
nice, tucked away, clean and charming hotel, very affordable, and late check out times! i was thrilled i didn't have to check out until 14:00! nice furnishings and fixtures, near a metro stop, not too far from city center. would stay here again
Great location, Nice Staff, Central to everything”
The entrance is super narrow may be hard to find, it is right beside the LUWAN stadium, so it would be very easy to tell local taxi drivers because it is a recognized place. The staff is super nice. My mom stayed there two separate times and while she wasn't they nicely checked her luggage for over 3 weeks and no problem. Staff is super nice. The room is OK, good for the money. Central to everything!
Lovely Hotel, Great Location, and affordable Price”
i like to stay in this hotel, Its near from metro station just about 3 min walk, the place also near TESCO Market, and walk for 7min I can find Muslim Restaurant, the breakfast also quite good. The room quite clean. I wuld like to stay in that hotel again for my next trip to shanghai.
Friendly hotel providing good value for money.”
The welcome was warm and the staff who checked us in make sure we were well looked after. The room was comfortable and everything worked so we experienced no minor irritations to do with lighting, plumbing, TV etc. This is important as otherwise so much time is wasted. It is a small, modest hotel that takes pride in giving good service. An example of this on checking out was that a receptionist walked down the small lane to the main road in order to bring back a taxi for us. She and other staff had good local knowledge which was very helpful.
small hotel right next to a supermarket”
stayed for 1 night prior to my departure. train station just nearby so to pudong airport is just 7 yuan but will take you about 70 minutes. a texco supermarket is right nest to the hotel so any last minute shopping for chinese delis to take home is easy. room is standard, with a simple chinese breakfast included.
great value and location”
We were not expecting much from the hotel. It was very inexpensive for Shang Hai so we had lowered our expectations. But we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was down a small lane off a main road. Very quiet, yet just a couple of minutes walking and we were on a main road with restaurants, taxi's and buses to anywhere we wanted to go. The building was quaint and made a very positive first impression. A gentleman was seated in the lobby and I gestured and he quickly jumped up and helped us get our bags out of the taxi. When we tried to tip him he refused. By the time we got inside someone was at the front desk. This woman spoke no English but she was friendly, helpful and efficient and we were ready to go to our room in a short time. Our room was the biggest surprise. Large, airy, clean and plenty of storage plus many well placed receptacles for plugging in all of our equipment plus good lighting. The bathroom was spacious, modern and CLEAN. We had a fridge, lots of goodies if you wanted to buy them but there is a Tesco Lotus just next door so you can stock up there.
You get what you pay for.”
This is a budget hotel, so my expectations were minimal. I just wanted a decent hotel close to the Expo site and that is what I got. I didn't plan on spending much time in the room. The rooms were tired-looking but clean and comfortable enough. The breakfast wasn't very good yet, again, for the price I didn't expect it to be anything great. The staff didn't speak much English, but they were friendly enough - and helpful. Overall, I was quite pleased with my stay - just keep your expectations low.
Good location (especially for Expo, great breakfas”
As I got a good deal through Agoda, this 3star hotel was good value (about £36/night) and did all I needed it to. Breakfast which was free didn't get a good review from another user, but I thought it was great - hot, Chinese food but also a good selection of western style breakfast foods. Location good - Tesco round the corner saved my skin when I got soaked and had to buy something cheap to wear in the room til my clothes dried out!
Value for money hotel in Shanghai”
The staff were pretty much helpful but you have to know how to speak Mandarin. The buffet breakfast can fill you up until the afternoon. This is a basic, no frills hotel, yet very good in value given its proximity to the World Expo site. Supermarket Tesco just a few steps away from this hotel allows you to enjoy cheap yet tasty food within the confines of your room.
Convenient location, 3-star hidden gem of a hotel”
My stay has been very pleasant and satisfactory as I was able to enjoy a good Chinese breakfast every morning before I headed off to my taxing day at the Expo. Good mix of carbohydrates (pau, noodles - quite oily though and fried rice), vegetables and fruits (water melon, oranges, bananas) and protein(hot dog sausages, boiled/tea eggs) and hot milk or soya milk. Bedsheets and towels are always white and clean which is surprising for such a small hotel. Internet connection can be a bit slow at night but otherwise acceptable. Best of all, we get BBC World Service on TV. Close to the TESCO supermarket where one can pick up all the local fruits to eat back at the hotel.
livable / can do”
when we arrive in shanghai we took a cab and the driver didn't know the hotel, never heard. we learned later that most people knew the stadium beside the hotel, thus we should state the name of stadium. the hotel is nice, not facing the street thus quiet. along the street there's a big supermarket, a couple of restaurants. the nicest thing of all is across the street there is a Metro station! when we were going back, we just took the Metro to Pudong international airport at an incredible low Y7.00/pax isn't that great or what?
OK for few days...”
It is OK to stay a few days but not more than 5 days...especially during winter...Heater wasn't working well and I asked the hotel staff to fix it...Still not working well after that. Breakfast wasn't fresh. However the location was great...near to train station and tesco, 10 mins to xin tian di and tian zhi fang by taxi...
We booked this hotel based on an Agoda review. Hotel is good and nicely located. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is near to a busy street for convenience, but far enough away to be quiet. Tesco is close by if you want to buy food. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
When we tried to tip him he refused. By the time we got inside someone was at the front desk. This woman spoke no English but she was friendly, helpful and efficient and we were ready to go to our room in a short time. We took the lift to the 3rd floor, yeah for an elevator and were really happy thus far. Everything worked and was clean. We had a window that opened but with heavy drapes so that we could sleep in if we wanted too. The bed was a king, a bit on the hard side, but we prefer that to soft. We slept just fine. Nice pillows and a duvet, central air and heat, a work desk with ADSL and a large television (but only a couple of channels in English). Again, no problem for us, but a movie would have been nice. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel with the exception of breakfast which was edible but not very fresh or tasty. The room was extremely good value for the money and I would most definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
Not worth the money”
Near metrostation.antique style. Many tv channels. But the carpet has worn with visible dirt.wardrobe stuffed with used quilt on dust .sockets outdated which spotted with stable dirt.stairs not cleaned. Not recommended
Uncomfortable and unplesant but the staff tried”
I rarely write long reviews. But this hotel I wouldn't wish upon my worst eneny, so hear hear: There are so many good things about Shanghai and this Hotel represents none of them, nor does it seek to. Upon entering, there is the sinking feeling, maybe somewhat like a sinking ship, that most people who were able to had evacuated but some poor souls were left roaming....Including the staff at the front desk. The staff seemed symphathetic when I complained about, oh little things, like used band aids stuck to the floor, barely breathable air in the room, no internet when it was advertised, room key that didn't work.... But i believe their sympathy ultimately does not compensate for an uncomfortable night with that 'weird' feeling you get in an old, smelly, poorly maintained room. I know it is cheap, and that is why I stayed, just wanted somewhere to sleep for a business visit, but if you cannot even sleep what is the point.? Whoever is responsible for this operation ; Management/ owners? should be ashamed.
Basic hotel in a great location.”
Staff spoke no English, but for the price of the hotel I wasn't expecting them to-so I planned accordingly and had everything I needed printed out in advance. They were friendly, helpful and tried their best.
