For this price range the hotel charges, it has a lot to improve! Good things: close to river and nice walking path, spacious pool with its beautiful surroundings, good WiFi; generous breakfasts. Things to improve: outdated decor and furniture; people shouldn’t have to order coffee at buffet breakfast; no usb outlets for chargers and power outlets are too far away from beds, noisy air conditioning.
Very Homelike Feel”
I was checked into the hotel within 5 mins of arrival. Staff where super friendly and helpful. Facilities were very nice and rooms were huge. Very clean place. Breakfast spread was very good. It is maybe 5-10mins wals to Nagaworld but realized the surrounding area had no Convenience Stores nearby. Closest one was along St136. Will return to stay again with family
Excellent hospitality; Friendly staff; Delicious breakfast buffet with variety of selection; Professional massage services; Great location - near tourist attractions, restaurants, night market, and massage spas; Next to Mekong River for relaxing morning and evening walks; Gated area for hotel privacy; Reasonably-priced SUV airport shuttle; Bonus having washing machine (but no clothes dryer) and mini-kitchen; Rooms, however, need remodeling, especially the bathrooms.
Part serviced apartment and part 5star hotel”
Great respite from the busy city. Had a junior suite which was massive, had a peek-a-boo view of the river. Low on in-room amenities (the old 'conditioning shampoo' ploy) but more than made up for that with huge breakfast buffet, pool, Nautilus gym, and helpful staff. Comfy, firm bed.
Great Location but a little Pricey!”
We spent 2 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment with a family of 4. The room is over 100 sq. meters and very spacious! The kitchen was fully equipped minus a few things like measuring cups and spoons but other than that very good. The breakfast was good with quite a bit of variety except limited for vegetarians. The staff are friendly and helpful but this hotel is about the location - just a few minutes walk to the Palace and National Museum and right on the river with a beautiful view. There is a nice pool and the gym is quite good. All in all a good place to stay and would recommend it for anyone not on a tight budget!
Comfortable rooms and convenient location”
They provided free upgrade from my suite to a 2 bedroom apartment as the view is nicer as I was staying for a week. There are few tuk-tuks waiting outside the hotel so it is convenient to move around and it is just 5-10 mins to the row of local restaurants by the river. Breakfast spread was good as well. It is also nearby the casino which is few minutes away by tuk-tuk.
Great location and attentive staff”
:We were not picked up at airport as promised. The steam room in fitness center was working. There is only one restaurant with very little variety fTrom day day. It would have been nice to he fitness open 24x7. A/C fan would squeak at night so we have to turn it off. hey come to fix butit keep happening. Nice big roomand mostly have hot water for showr. Very kind staff.
Comfortable,well serviced hotel. ”
After the hot, dusty environment in Siem Reap, it was great to finish off our holiday in Cambodia in real style at a reasonable price. It is hard to fault this hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable with great furnishings and an efficient air conditioner, and the staff were excellent. We enjoyed our meals at both the micro brewery and The Oyster Bar. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, with a selection of western and Asian foods, and it was lovely to start the day overlooking the river. The Himawari is a great hotel to relax in after the heat and bustle of Phnom
Good value for money”
The hotel is one of the best in the area which offers great space with good value for money. The area itself is the best in the city for everything is readily available. Highly recommended for those travelling for a very short period of time.
As good as ever!”
We have stayed at the Himawari previously and were looking forward to our return. We arrived early and were shown to our room. We realised it was not the type of room we had booked so we called reception. No problem about changing but we'd have to wait. No problem though, we could just stay in that room for an hour or so. Tuktuk to town is only $2 and it's easy to walk from here to the palace, Independence Monument, street 240. We booked a car to pick us up at the airport - $12 for two people. Good value.
Although we had booked a twin room, we were shown a double, but this was soon changed even though it was not easy to communicate as many of the staff spoke very limited English. The 'suite' meant the room had a kitchen area with cooking facilities and a fridge which was useful for keeping the complimentary bottled water (2 bottles+ per day) cool. The bar had a micro brewery with several beers on offer. Happy hour meant two for one on these beers and the house wines and it was pleasant to sit with a drink and enjoy the view of the river as darkness fell. The pool was a reasonable size and there was also a spa pool with very hot water --quite a shock when you first tried it! We enjoyed our stay at the Himawari and would recommend it to others, the only drawback being the communication problems with some staff members who had little or no English.
Great Hotel. Willing to Helpwith Sudden Changes”
We decided to stay at this hotel due to sudden emergency business situation within our company. We booked at the last minute and the hotel is willing to help out with the sudden changes after we arrived.
Luxury accommodations and great service”
this is a really nice place. service from everyone was great. helped me with transportation, phone calls, and visitors. only downside was that the restaurant closed a bit early for my tastes, especially since phnom penh is such a party town.
An architectural jewel on the Mekong”
Wonderful to stroll after dinner along the quay on the river. Hundreds of places to have dinner and hang out. Perfectly located near main offices of private business and government. Near main attraction (Royal Palace, Independence Monument). Great quality for price.
Modern, friendly and great breakfast!”
the himawari is located at the far end of the sisowath quay but is an easy stroll to the royal palace, shops, restaurants and bars. the building was modern with a huge under used area in the reception but it did not feel impersonal and the staff worked hard to answer any queries. the room/suite had a small kitchenette with sink, fridge and microwave which we didn't use but would be a boon for a family. the breakfast was comprehensive with impeccable service. the pool was often overcrowded with nowhere to sit.
A trouble free stay. ”
i have stayed here many times and the staff are always helpful and polite. the facilities are great (pool and fitness) and a great breakfast buffet. the location is central for all business meetings or to tourist spots in phnom penh. room are very large and quiet (except on street facing side. i will stay here again.
well appointed, big rooms, great facilities”
this is our fav hotel in Phnom Penh, have stayed 3 or 4 times over the years. the 2 bedroom suite thru agoda is great for families - kitchen, front loader washing machine, tvs in every room, dvd player - location on river is great - great pool and gym and tennis court to work off the cheap beer and great food in this city - great bfast and lovely waiting staff - young kids will love it
Grand Hotel on the riverside”
rooms at the himawari are a good size and the views from the rooms are impressive. it is a high standard hotel in an excellent location. it is very handy to the interesting attractions of phnom penh.
nice hotel and service with a nice swimming pool”
for the price of the suite room i think its a bit over charged ! big room with an old TV with a view on the street not the river :( un fortunatlly problems with hot water! very good breakfast with many choices ! on monday they have some kind of a customers welcome party with free beer and wine and snacks + local girls dancing !
It was definitely a pleasant feeling as we arrived at the luxuriant and inviting lobby of Himawari, having been used to relatively more modest lodgings in the past. Rooms (and toilets!) were very spacious and beds were comfy enough, the selection for breakfast was widespread and the restaurant overlooks the breezy riverfront. Pool was reasonably sized and nice enough but no idea why the water appears to be freezing cold even under the hot sun. Service was top notch as well, polite, helpful and having initiative as well. Even though its slightly pricier than most, i would recommend it to everyone looking for a hassle free trip!
