Central location, easy walk to everywhere. Love it!”
Location is central, at the heart of, well, pretty much everything. So it was a quick and easy walk to many places and attractions around Royal Mile. Breakfast was good, room was good and satisfactory.
Good option before and after highlands tour.”
5-10GBP/day /bag for storing luggage at the hotel. Night staff said 5GBP/bag/day but in the morning she told 10GBP/bag/day, luckily they collected from us 5GBP/bag/day. Room was very good, bed was so comfortable, so pity we stay here only short time. Staff were helpful and willing to help, sometime when they're free, may be the other hotel did different way. The room was clean. Location is in the middle for main street, but this area, royal mile, is sooo steep, I was stunned when I got out from the train station :p
A good hotel if you want a central location in Edinburgh. Right around the corner from the Royal mile, close to tourist attractions and walking distance to the shopping centres and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were neat and tidy, albeit on the small side.
Amazing place t o stay. Location was brilliant & the staff were the nicest we have come across before. Nothing was a problem to them & they were so lovely & friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Convenient, clean, good location”
Ibis hotel was very accessible from Edinburgh waverley station via the fisherman close for those with light luggage. If u have big luggages, it's better to walk up the winding slopes to the right. The hotel is @ the centre of sight-seeing locations such as Real Mary Kings Close, Scotland castle, National Museum, ghost tours etc. Rooms are clean and big. Staffs were welcoming, friendly and helpful. p/s: it's near halal restaurants for muslim travellers (lailas, hamam's etc.)
Great location and big size rooms,”
We had a really great experience with this hotel. We got there around 11:30, and we were able to check in already, before the usual 2PM check in time. It is located right beside the Tron which is the meeting point of the Sandeman Free Tour. It is also along the Royal Mile so most of the attractions are very near. There is also a Sainsbury near by, so it is easy to buy some snacks and water.
Clean & Modern & Good Location”
The staff is friendly and the hotel is dog friendly with clean, modern rooms only a short walk from Waverly station. There is a delicious restaurant in the lobby; try the pizza. Overall, great value for money. Unfortunately, if your room faces the front, you could have problems sleeping due to fun after hour entertainment at the local pubs.
Modern hotel in the heart of the city”
Pros: - Clean rooms - Good shower - Friendly staff - Located just 5-10 mins from Waverly station, and a stone's throw away from many other attractions (Royal Mile, Musuem on the Mound, National Musuem of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle) - Value for money (£47 per night, Jan 2018) Cons - Our room (Room 502) faced the front of the hotel and got noisy at night due to the pubs opposite. Light sleepers may have trouble sleeping - The buffet breakfast (not included in the room charge) was expensive (£10.45, Jan 2018) but the spread was very limited.
Amazing location and very helpful, kind staff”
Absolutely nothing to complain about, great buffet breakfast. The location was so good, I just walked to everything, saved money on taxis or public transport. The staff were very caring and helped me considerably.
Very good location”
Hotel is 1 minute walk to the middle of Royal Mile, convenient to everywhere just by foot. Double room is big with necessary facilities. Nice staff, quick check-in & check-out; etc. A good choice to stay in Edinbough (in particular who are 1st time to this city)
Excellent location, right off the royal mile. Very accommodating and attentive staff. Modern and very comfortable decor. If you are taking the tram from the airport, get off at Princes Street. Much easier walk than from St. Andrews square stop.
Great hotel ”
It would have been nice if they mentioned that the hotel was on higher ground compared to the station. It would have been easier to take a lift and walk a slightly longer distance than have to lug our bags up a flight of stairs for a short distance. Otherwise, everything else was great.
An excellent hotel stay in Edinburgh”
The hotel is situated at the centre of the Old Town. All the sightseeing spots are within walking distance. Restaurants, shops and amenities are available readily. Train and bus stations are within 10 minutes walk. The hotel is new and rooms spacious with helpful staff, what more can I ask for?
Staff and location but room is too cold”
The room is cold in the night and noise from the hunter square but it just goes on for a short while. After all, I would recommend the hotel to visitors as it's accessible to spots, restaurants and safe.
Basic and disappointing ”
We arrived just prior to check in at 2pm, we were told the room allocated to us wasn't ready but we would be shown to another, which had disabled adaptations. All fine. We were told only one of the lifts stopped at the 3rd floor where our room was and after trying 4 times to call that particular lift, the staff member suggested we go to the 4th floor and walk down a flight. Again, this was acceptable as both my partner and I are fit and well but if we, or another couple, had actually needed the disabled accessible room this wouldn't have been suitable. The room itself was basic but clean and well presented. We did find that the shower would not fully turn on though. The mixer tap to run the bath wouldn't switch off and therefore only a dribble of water came out the shower head. We called reception to report the fault and were told a maintenance person would be along to have a look. After 30 mins of waiting we had to just have baths as we would've been late to check out. Again, it wasn't a big deal for us to have a bath instead but for a person who requires shower access this would've been unsuitable. Also, if we'd known we had to wait for a maintenance person, we wouldn't have wasted so much time hanging around. On check out we asked the Clark to hold out bags in the store which he informed us there was a cost to do so, which we've never had to pay to do anywhere else. I think £100 per night for this hotel is worth it for the location but not the room or service I'm afraid. We did not try any of the food but there was no "not applicable" option
Had a great stay at the hotel. The room was fine for the money we paid. It was in a perfect location to attraction and food/coffee/bars. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly and the service was exceptional.
Great experience worthy of your money”
It was great. The location is convenient, only about 5 minute walk to Edinburgh Waverley station. The staff are really polite and helpful. The room is good however the cleanliness should be improved. One towel in the bathroom has a purple stain on it. Aside from this, everything is good!
Clean and good services hotel”
1.Good services from staffs. 2.No refrigerator, but the room was clean. 3.Noise from the narrow corridor. 4.Good location in the old town. Easy walk to the Edinburgh castle or Hollyrood House. 5.If you take a suitcase from Edinburgh train station to hotel, you need to have physical strength carrying your suitcase up to the hill.
Nice hotel just off the center”
Good size and clean rooms. Location just a few meters from the Royal Mile and literally 2 blocks away from Edinburgh Waverly is unbeatable. Also, lots of good and decently priced restaurants are a few blocks away.
Best service, very comfortable and clean”
I had planned more time in Scotland, but ended up changing to 2 nights and 1 day. Dean at the desk helped me gather so much information, so I could get on the tours that I did not want to miss. I managed to get everywhere and really enjoyed my visit. He even located discounts. Both he and Agnes were very personable and helpful. I also had the best nights sleep because the bed was so comfortable. Ideally located and easy to get to all attractions. I will recommend the Ibis and will be back in the future.
