Agoda in the News winds up hotel deals in Hong Kong to celebrate world famous exhibitions on gems, jewellery and watches

SINGAPORE (August 14, 2013), Asia’s leading hotel booking site and part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline Group (Nasdaq:PCLN), is calling fans of jewellry, gems and timepieces to Hong Kong for two events that represent the very best of these specialized industries – the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, and the First Asia Haute Horlogerie Exhibition.

Held this year from 11-15 September, the Jewellery & Gem Fair is the world’s number one jewellery event, hosting over 50,000 buyers from around the world who come to inspect the wares of over 3,500 exhibitors displaying a huge variety of jewellery, gemstones, equipment and services.

In fact, the event is so big that it must be held in two venues – the AsiaWorld-Expo and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre – offering a total of 135,000 sq.m of exhibition space. Attendees can browse an unprecedented range of products, talk with exhibitors from 22 countries, and visit the 16,000sq.m diamond pavilion, assembled under the banner of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre and the Israel Diamond Institute.

And for those that aren’t familiar with the word horlogerie, it’s simply a fancy word for watchmaking. Therefore, the First Asia Haute Horlogerie Exhibition will be showcasing some of the best, the rarest, the oldest and the most expensive watches in the world. This event – also at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre – will be held from 24-27 September. Visitors can check out displays by renowned watch artisans, browse some of the world’s top brands, and visit the Mastery of Time exhibit, which traces humanity’s history of timekeeping.

Of course, visitors don’t have to spend all their time within the confines of the two huge venues – each is located near to some of Hong Kong’s most popular attractions. AsiaWorld-Expo is located at the Hong Kong International Airport, which has easy access to the famous Tian Tan Buddha statue, the Ngong Ping cable car, markets, shops and trekking paths. An easy train journey takes guests to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre right in the heart of Hong Kong, which has access to all the famous food, shopping, architecture and neon-lit pedestrian walkways that the city is famous for.

For fans of finely-crafted jewellery, world-class metalwork and precision mechanical engineering, these two events in one of Asia’s great cities are too tempting to avoid. To make the most of a trip, take a look at the specials on offer at these great hotels.
