Overall good stay 😊”
Aside from the temp of the room being a little hot and no toiletries provided, it was all in all a good stay. Hotel is centrally located to all tourist attractions and very accessible to tuktuk, taxi and train. Staff are friendly and nice. There were only two breakfast options offered everyday that is included with our reservation and we stayed there for almost 5days. We went out to have breakfast on the 3rd day which was ok because there were a lot of food options close by. If the stuff listed below is ok with you, then this hotel is good for you. Have a great time in Bangkok! FYI: - Does not provide toothbrushes or toothpastes, so bring your own toiletries - Hot/warm water takes at least 5-10 mins to get warm enough for shower (almost called the front desk to complain, but then I felt warm water coming out the shower) - Does not provide room slippers - No iron or ironing board
The place is like a home, not massive as five star hotels but very good for its price. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Location is good, walking distance to Phatpong night market, And walking distance to our conference venue too.......
Affordable Basic Hotel”
This hotel is a basic hotel. Just a place to sleep. Good location. Clean and affordable. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is an option but very basic and same every day. Okay if you just want some food to start your day. I would stay here again if trying to save money.
Modern, nice and clean and everything works. Staff polite and friendly and breakfast decent. Would come back. About 15mins walk from Si Lom metro.
Really very good”
The hotel is small but that causes no problems. It's been refurbished almost completely since I last stayed there and I admit to being impressed. The room was comfortable and bright, and everything thoroughly clean. The service provided was excellent. There are plenty of good eating places very close by. I would have liked a partial buffet-style breakfast but can see why that might not be thought practical. The breakfast that I had was very good, and served quickly and carefully.
Another Great Stay at LaResidence”
I first started staying at LaResidence about 15 years ago on a recommendation of a friend. I have stayed there every trip since. The location is very convenient - 10 minute walk to Chong Nonsi BTS station, Samboon Seafood is at the end of the block. Jim Thompson's flagship store is 6 blocks and the Chao Praya river is an 8 minute taxi ride. The rooms are each uniquely designed from small studios to suites. I have stayed in the suites for the past 4 trips as they are are bargain at $79 a night for their size. LaResidence is not a 5 star hotel nor does it pretend to be but it certainly is better than many 3 star hotels I have stayed at. The best part of LaResidence is Panida who oversees the front desk. Her help and assistance in so many areas over the years has been priceless and is one of the main reasons I call LaResidence home when I am in Bangkok.
Comfortable, economic and well run”
As before, the stay was excellent. The room was small but comfortable, and contained everything that I needed or might have wanted. The staff, all of whom speak good English, were friendly and helpful, and the service was very good indeed. That included looking after my case for the day, after I'd booked out, so that I didn't have to take it with me while waiting to move on to the next city. I've been before, I like the hotel, and the area and its convenience, and will definitely go back there again. The price that I paid was very modest, too, especially for a city-centre hotel.
Easy, relaxing stay in Bangkok”
The staff were fantastic, especially the woman who checked me in. She gave me advice on restaurants and getting around Bangkok. The room was small but perfectly adequate for a single traveler. I could hear policemen blowing whistles outside but it didn't bother me. The only disadvantage is that it's a pretty long walk from the nearest BTS metro station.
Efficient and comfortable, and in good location”
La Residence is a small hotel close to the Silom district, and hence the Skytrain, in central Bangkok. Single rooms, like that which I had, are quite small but contain everything that one needs, as well as having a relatively large and comfortable shower/lavatory suite attached. The service offered is excellent, including free wifi. There is very little choice in the breakfast menu - just between fried and scrambled eggs - but everything is prepared fresh, there is plenty to eat/drink (fruit juice, fresh fruit coffee, toast and butter, eggs and sausages, etc), and the service is friendly and quick.
Very clean and comfortable in an efficient hotel”
The hotel is well run - see above - well located and clean. The rooms are not large but all standard services are available, including free wifi connection, and the room offered all that was needed. The owner/manager's English is superb and colloquial, although she taught it to herself. Breakfast is good. There is no buffet available, but breakfast is excellent and cooked to order on arrival in the dining room. I had no problems at all with this hotel and will certainly go back to stay there again.
It is a nice hotel in a good location, and it's reasonable value, too. Equally, the staff are courteous. I was less than impressed with the ways in which some housekeeping issues were handled, however.
Comfort stay with tight budget”
Everything are okay, is just quite hard to get a grab car on the hotel itself. You will need to pin the place on the next door building / tea shop. Not really a quiet place at night as the tuktuk are quite noisy. But the hotel staff are really helpful and friendly.
A bit dated though comfy BUT...”
This hotel seemed dated despite the fact they told me it was fully renovated (when I’m not sure). The lobby seemed quite promising but there’s a few things that needs improvement as maintenance seems lacking in the room: Cons: 1) toilet bowl was full of yellow stains - either clean it thoroughly or change a new one altogether. This was the thing that kinda put me off the entire stay 2) there were 2 safe deposit boxes in the room, one was out of batteries while another had no instruction on usage at all! 3) they should provide a mini kettle if possible (I didn’t mind not having the toothbrushes as I normally bring my own) 4) water bottles is a little bit stingy ( I drank an unfinished bottle and instead of replacing me with 2 new bottles they only gave 1) 5) Some lights in room was not working 6) the blinds are not exactly night curtains so come morning it can get a tad bright - luckily I got my own eye mask for sleeping 7) surprisingly it was not that easy to call Grab Bike ! 8) quite a fair bit of traffic lights to manoeuvre but again depending if you know how to come in from the main road which is bit more of a short cut Pros: 1) 7-11 across the street and a tea cafe right next door though it seemed closed on weekends 2) it’s a decent stroll to patpong (if you know how to navigate there’s a quicker route somehow that brings you right to Silom in around 10-mins) 3) close by some chinese eateries as well 4) morning reception is quite friendly; night reception was ok though a tad grumpy 5) reasonable rate 6) I took past occupants advice and asked for a room away from main road hence noise level was minimal I think this hotel must have been a gem in its hey days. They really should do something about the maintenance as everything in the room just felt kinda old. I especially didn’t like the stained toilet bowl! I think even as a boutique Budget hotel this is just some standard expectations!!!
Not so happy :(”
The stay was not so good for the fact the breakfast was just basic, BTS is away for around 20-25 walk, no shopping in the close vicinity, staff hardly understand English and certainly not so cooperative, etc. Access to taxi was fine and nearby restaurants were good but quite expensive. Overall stay was just okay. Perhaps not to be recommended.
Great staff! Very accomodating
Not bad not great”
A fair walk from BTS, safe area with lots of seafood restaurants around. Stayed on 6th floor. Room ok but noisy with other guests voices and tuk tuks outside at night. Although very helpful I had some trouble communicating with staff. Breakfast ok. Shower was good.
The place is very run down due to its age and need many bit of refurbished to bring it to decent sta”
Toilets badly worn and TV set was so old and almost fully blurred to watch anything
Just a short distance from BTS station and also some nice restaurants... very convenient. The place has recently been renovated so it's has fresh nice clean rooms and the staff is very friendly. Overall stay was very good.
A comfortable room with great basic amenities”
I enjoyed the stay at the hotel. After all I am out most of the time, just need a clean bed and room. Decent breakfast before I start my day. The hotel is quiet and cosy. Recommended for those who don't mind "no frill" hotels.
nice location, old building old room”
located in Tanon Surawong which is a good location, however building is very old, so does elevator and room. Room is terribly small with a single bed fitted in. i would consider to stay again if roomrate less than 900Baht.
My stay was AWESOME! Very accomodating staff.”
It was a very pleasant stay. The staff are very accomodating. Fast service and they can converse in English better. Plus the location is in the heart of Bangkok easy access to almost anywhere - Shopping, Bar, Culture and Transportation. I will be staying in La Residence again once I visit Bangkok next year! :)
Relaxing, no-frills accomodation but comfortable. ”
Very pleasant stay. I errorneously booked the wrong hotel (i wanted to book the other "Residence" Hotel), so i kinda panick when i realized i would be checking into "La Residence" but the stay turns out to be one of the most memorable stay in Bangkok. La Residence offers great value for money. The hotel may not offer everything ie. buffet spread breakfast, fancy toiletries or 1000TC bedsheets .... but you pay for what you need. The breakfast is very decent and tasty (but you may get tired of bread, eggs n bacon after 5 days of stay). They didnt replenish the toiletries (but i didnt ask them to replenish, i just get a bottle of shampoo and bathsoap from the Boots Pharmacy). The bedsheets are clean (but definitely not luxurious 1000TC type). All said, La Residence is a perfect hotel for guests who are looking for no-frills in a hotel. The rooms are clean, conversant hotel staff, good wifi and fairly decent access to public transport. The hotel is far away from all the shopping areas but BTS station is 10 walk away. There are buses nearby going to MBK / Siam Centre and Pratunam if you know your way around Silom / Surawongse area. I would be happy to stay at La Residence again for my future trip to BKK. Btw Thanks DONG for the hospitality! Kim
Amazing boutique hotel with amazing staff”
For some people, the location is not really convenient but you can reach Silom or BTS metro for 10 minutes leisure walk. Really loved their room. The design was nothing to shout but its very clean and comfortable. The staff are truly amazing. They are friendly, funny and serve with heart. They ask me my departure flight and offer me to late check-out at no cost! Such a lovely hotel.
Nice little hotel in downtown Bangkok”
Stayed here one night - room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. Room was on the small side, but it was perfectly adequate for me travelling alone and was quiet with no traffic noise. Nice breakfast was served the following morning by friendly staff. It's a great little hotel if you just want a reasonably-priced room in a central Bangkok location close to nightlife and shopping amenities.
This was our first time at La Residence. The price was right, the people very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was freshly prepared to order and excellent. It was pretty close to restaurants on Silom and Surawongse Roads. Rooms were a little bit dreary but staff made up for any shortcomings.
Well cared for hotel with friendly service”
Great hotel for a solo traveller. My room was small (I had a single room) but cozy, comfortable and very clean. The staff were always friendly and accommodating and the location was great. Tasty breakfast too!
compact room with no cool air conditioning”
lovely wanna be hotel. try hard to get the retro chic feel like. down point was the staff who don't know about their role of work. look confused. A bottle glass of water in the room is charge!! So, be aware of it.
Nice little hotel close to Silom Road shopping”
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on my way home to Melbourne. I had a single room that was just the right size for a couple of days. All rooms have the mod cons that you would expect and are cleaned on a daily basis. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle but only a 10 minute walk to Silom road, the clubs and the night Bazzar. The staff are very helpfull and went out of their way to make my stay very pleasent. For a few days in Bangkok this hotel would suite anyone.
Great price and Good Location ”
Overall is good.
1 night stay”
We just stayed the night after a long flight and it was good and clean. the staff is very friendly.
Nice oasis ”
Great little hotel small and very clean
Great hotel but forgot airport pickup.”
Very good stay but only the women spoke any English. When she wasn't there, confusion.
The bedsheet is very ichy but overall is clean
Ok for the price”
Taxis driver had much trouble finding the hotel using the supplied address, which was quite frustrating for us both. Could not get the water temperature in the shower to stay where i wanted for more than 30 seconds. Was either extremely hot or very cold. Was completely random. Staff were helpful and accommodating and were generous with breakfast (extra coffee and toast). Nice and close to the Skytrain - 10 minute walk. Room was ok. Maybe a little small for the price. Air con worked. I felt it was a little too expensive, but that is probably because of the area and that I booked so close to check-in day.
Good, if Spartan option ”
I stayed two nights--the first two days I was there the only staff available did not speak English. At checkout an English speaking staff member arrived who was very friendly and nice; only wish I had met her earlier. For the price, it's a bit bare bones--the air conditioner was set on an attic temperature that couldn't be adjusted (or, the language barrier prevented a more nuanced conversation about it in any case), there are no toiletries or free bottles of water (picky, perhaps, but when you arrive in the middle of the night from abroad this is a bit of a pain) and the wifi is not great. That said, it's a cozy little place in the heart of Silom and easy to get around from, and the room decor was tasteful. An okay option for an independent traveler that doesn't anticipate needing anything but the basics.
Was there only for a night. Room was clean and comfortable. Only had problems adjusting the water temperature. Air conditioning is centralised so you cannot adjust. Didnt try the food so no comments on the food. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Could've been better! Could've been worse!”
For some reason multiple cab and tuk tuk drivers could not find the location of the hotel. My first driver went to a hotel with a similar name then got even more lost. The rest were always within the general vicinity of the area. Once I had the blocks orientated I was able to direct them to the exact location once they passed a 7/11 a few blocks away. Maybe I was just unlucky. I would recommend to get someone to write down the directions in Thai. It was never an issue again. The staff I encountered didn't speak very good English and the credit card machine wasn't working at the time when I was ready to check out. The wifi worked in the lobby, but once in the room it barely worked. I couldn't up/download most content. Otherwise, the room was clean and had a standard bathroom. The water pressure was amazing compared to many of the hotels I stayed in across my trip to Asia. Overall, it was just average.
O.k. but not again”
Well, you get what you pay for: I got a deal and the Hotel isn't bad. But there were a few glitches - over-eager yet clumsy staff (since you couldn't watch T.V. fro the bed, I moved the T,V by 20 inches. Every morning, they moved it back. - They cleaned the room while I was having breakfast. When you got back early, they were still there when you wanted to use the bathroom. - Then they knocked after you had used the bathroom to continue I was gone all day every day; they had ample time to clean during those hours. - Breakfast: No selection, only eggs, bacon, toast, jam, coffee and weird juice. Every day they asked if I'd like those items. I never dared to ask what the other options were. The older woman spoke English, was helpful but also had an attitude. I will not go back there again.
cute decoration with personality. Good location.”
Im split 50/50 about this hotel. The location is good if you're into the seedy nightlife of Bangkok, which I am. It's about a 5-6 block walk. But other than that It not really near anything else. Its a far walk to the subway. I do like the rooms. They are all decorated differently with cute personalites. The rooms are tiny, but the bathrooms are big. I had to switch rooms while I stayed here. My first room was infested with tiny ants, which got in to my bags and in my clothes. They moved me to a different room. The snacks were very stale, most of them had expired. The staff was very friendly, but one thing that really annoyed me, was when I checked out I was charge a fee for having someone visit at night for about 2 hours. The person at the desk told me that most of the other hotels do the same. I thought that was a rude answer. That should have been someting that should be stated at the time of checkout. I could have made a bid deal about the stale snacks, that I paid for or the ant infested room, that I paid for,or the fee that I was charged because of my visitor, but I didn't. If you'r on a budget then maybe this would be a good choice. But you've been warned!!
Rooms are spacious enough , big bed. ”
+Helful staff +kind owner +spacious room +big bed +good location -no good breakfast -bed cover has only one thin sheet
Pretty Good Place to Stay”
Staff was friendly, food was reasonably priced, but it was difficult for my taxi to locate-- the sign for the hotel is small and not easily seen. Fine stay though.
Senior lady staffs could speak English well. ”

Good location, staff very helpful, decent breakfast. We'd stay there again.
Stayed a couple of days - good helpful staff fantastic breakfast - internet good.
Great hotel to stay in downtown Bangkok”
Easy to get to by taxi or BTS (nearest station) about a 10 minute walk. The BTS Chong Nonsi has escalators access from Sathorn Plaza. Good breakfast and hotel staff very courteous.

I was in the hotel just for a weekend, it fulfilled what I required. The owner woman was very helpfull, very easy understanding and great support.

Good price, good location but dirty.”
It was alright if you need to stay just a night.
comfortable and relaxing”
it was relaxing and quiet with all facilities nearby
The hotel meets the minimum standards”
Good and close to nightlife... limited restaurants nearby ....
This is more of an old-style hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, but there was a slight smell of smoke. It was reasonable value for money.
good location, clean room, , friendly staff”
clean silent room with Fast internet, good for family visitors,
Small quiet place near Silom-Surawong”
