Great room although walls a bit thin! Helpful staff and friendly and welcoming! Pity there is not a restaurant for evening meals! Not in a great part of Chiang Mai but convenient for what we were doing. Very clean and easy to keep room cool. A treat in having a bath! The swimming pool is very strange being on the second floor and surrounded by traffic noise! A first for me!
walk anywhere quickly”
Lanna is located with very easy walk access to the major areas of Chiang Mai. 5 minutes to Night Market, 15 minutes to the moat and things to see along the way. Restaurants every where,,,more booze than you drank in the last 20 years.
Clean hotel, good breakfast”
a one week stay with my son. hm, they say "free wifi" but not available in the room, you have to go down to the lobby area each time you wanna get connected. sounds from a mosque somewhere around this area late at night and early in the morning - but not very loud. we wondered only the first night why they disturb the other people, got quickly used to it nevertheless.
You get what you pay for. It’s not perfect, the pool was closed down (a reason we chose this hotel) huge rooms, clean but very dated. This hotel judging by the lobby must have been an amazing place in its day with the retro style. We had a car so travelling was ok. The name on the top of the building had light off on some of its letters get the picture? Overall a pleasant stay.
Swimming Pool under repair”
We booked this place specifically for the swimming pool. Was never informed that the pool is out of service until we have arrived. The staff were professional and accommodated all our other requests. A pleasant stay nonetheless!
Not a 4 star hotel it is a week 3 star ”
The room has old carpet smelling bad. Most off staf can not english and allot confusing in frontdesk. Breakfast was bad.
Good value - but not close to a 4* hotel”
Be very clear - this isn't anywhere close to being a 4* hotel, but it still represents good value. Google maps has it right - 3* only. Who posts these ratings - the hotels themselves? I got a big room but everything is very dated, carpet quite frayed in places, fittings (e.g. taps, lights and AC) very old and swimming pool out off order entire week I was there but I wouldn't have used it anyway. But for around Bt1,000/night it was well money well spent. It's about 1.5km to the middle of town, 20-min walk or Bt60 tuk-tuk. Breakfast was buffet, so plenty to eat, but very average grub (basic cereals, salad) but bonus of having both Thai and foreign hot dishes and eggs (kinda) made to order. Staff were lovely throughout. Recommended.
Old hotel ”
I didn’t have WiFi in my room..
Great location but needs to be renovated”
+Good location, convenient stores, night market and city centre in walking distance +Breakfast was decent for price +Staffs were friendly +Hotel was clean -Wifi was horrible, almost non existent -There was cooler and no AC -No proper lighting -Room was outdated, furnitures look very old and lamps and kettle had scary wires
Do Not Stay At This Hotel”
This hotel is terrible - dirty, unhelpful staff, rotten food and in bad disrepair. I stayed 3 nights - 2 days in a row arrived back at 9.00 pm after a long day's work and room not made up. When I complained they said they do not do because they have 2 maids for 200+ rooms. Disgraceful. I have been coming to Thailand for 35 years, lived here for 10 and the worst hotel I have ever seen here. A disgrace.
Good price, compromised location”
Location is a shortcoming, walking around is not recommended as tourists spots are relatively far away. However, hotel price compensates the traffic cost. Room with windows towards the street tend to be noisy at night.
I was there for my exams for a 2 nights. It's okay. For the money I paid could not expect more. Tired appliences gently reminded me typica hotel in former soviet unon. Room was not small. Wi-fi was ok. Staff doesnt speak english, except reception. Will stay again? - probably yes.
Decent Hotel on the Outskirts of City Center”
Overall the hotel was a good value. It's about a km from night bazaar and other city attractions, so plan on tuk-tuk or motorbike rental to get around - that was the only real downside; we normally stay right near the market - Centara, Surigwan, etc. but they were all fully booked. The hotel was in fairly good shape considering it had some age to it. Our room was clean and did not have any of the typical Thai smells that you can find in some of the other old high rise hotels in the City. Breakfast was decent, but not outstanding. As minor as it may seem, the water pressure and temperature in the shower were awesome! Everything in the room worked properly, including good A/C and the WiFi reception was reliable. Price was respectable. mid-7s on the rating is about right. Would stay here again. No real highlights on staff performance come to mind - except to say that the parking lot attendant runs a real tight ship and took good care of our auto!
Review of Lanna Palace Hotel Chiang Mai”
The hotel was strange 1) Hallways were not well lit up 2) Breakfast was like same thing every day for the 4 days that i was there 3) Wifi connection to the room was at minimal level and NO LAN network 4) Bathrooms were like they needed a revamp 5-years ago.. not even now 5) I had to call in to fix the air conditioning, and the water flow in the toilet 6) Television sets were like the ones i used 2 decades ago 7) The hotel could better market itself as ancient experience hotel as it continues to have the buttons for the radio station that used to be a common thing 2-3 decades ago (I had at one point asked the hotel staff on when the hotel was built and the response was 2004 and me and my family burst out in laughter).
Aged but decent”
The lobby is impressive but the room was very aged. It was clean and comfortable and for the $30 AUD a night we paid it was great value. Laundry was super expensive - best to use a laundry downtown. Staff were friendly and the free shuttle to the night markets was fantastic.
Giving yourself a 4 star rating????”
Hello - My stay at the Hotel was for 3 nights - 4 star for this Hotel is I think OVERRATED 1) VERY VERY BAD Internet (No WI FI) on 4 floor 2) WI FI works only in Lobby 3) Dining room full of Mosquitos 4) Room was OK - Nothing Much to say (But 4 floor - isolated) Tuk Tuk will take you to Night Market - Hotel on the main road (its convenient) 5) A.B.Fast was Ordinary (nothing much or no varieties) Overall a pleasant Stay (only for those who are NOT Addicted with Internet) - LoL
Great location. Good wifi. Clean. ”
great location. good wifi. clean. a bit oldish. but good value for money. 5 minutes walk from night bazaar. very calm environment. hotel stuff very friendley and check in and out was so smooth. no cash deposit needed. if u look for luxury look somewhere else but fit the price u pay and the location it's perfect. chiang mai city and the tours around are amazing i would recommend a very good local tour guide that will take u wherever u want to go for a very good price and amazing service. what we manage to see and do in two days with him we couldn't do with all group tours.
Good value for the price”
This is the third time we have stayed at Lanna Palace. The price is right, rooms clean, has everything we like in a room -safe, hot water kettle, free Wifi in the room, etc. The breafast could used an upgrade, but for the price -- it's fine. Staff is friendly, helpful and English is good. We'll stay there again.
Value for the money”
I've been in Lanna Palace for few occassions, conference and this time, a last minute switch to this hotel. I can say it is very much value for the money! The staffs are friendly and helpful. The restaurant provides good buffet lunch with the price you can not imagine! It takes fifteen minutes walk to the night marker or costs you 50-60 bahts bu tuk-tuk. Swimming pool is not well maintained and needed improvement. We stayed in the corner room and with both side windows with spectacular view to the mountains and the other side to the city. We absolutely enjoyed our one-day stay in this hotel. Improvement can be done to the channels of TV as well as the wifi in room!
Very clean hotel”
Very nice and clean hotel. It is very close to the markets and the rates are good for the service. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a good view of the mountains from the room. The in room service was quite good and reasonably priced. We just hired the Tuk Tuk to go to the markets and the local clothing shop.It is centrally located. There is a massage place just outside the hotel which was very cheap after a long day walking, a good massage was at the doorstep.
