This hotel needs renovation”
Pros: The location is very good, it is close to monkasel and Gubeng station. Cons: the hotel is old, the bathroom smells urine,the bedlinen is dirty, the phone is not working. The price is expensive. I saw some women in the lobby when I came. One staff knocked my door badly when I was just check-in. He said he got info I would check-out, what the hell.. I will not recommend my friend to stay here unless they do some improvements.
It’s a convenient as it is located near Surabaya Gubeng Railway Station ( please note that this hotel is next to the old station, if u coming out from the new station, u can ask for assistance from the railway crew or better ask before disembarking from the train). Even though the hotel is a bit old, they serve basic necessities and the room was clean and the staffs helpful
Close to Surabaya Gubeng Railway Station”
Just almost beside the railway station and a convenience store, and close to two shopping malls. The aircon was rather weak and the hot water in the shower was almost not working, but with the hot weather outside and after a shower, the two problems cancelled itself out. A breakfast purchased per person will cost Rp50.000.
Convenient & Good Stay”
The hotel was a standard business hotel. Comfortable and clean. Convenient as it is stone throw away from the Gubeng Train Station if you are traveling Java by the train the next morning. It is also just a few minutes walk to Plaza Surabaya which houses a myriad variety of F&B outlets. It is also quite near to several other attractions, which we didn't have chance to explore. We had a very good night's rest there.
Worth to give them a chance ”
I was hesitate to book this hotel as the reviews were quite bad. However I need to stay as close as possible to the train station so I decided to give them a chance. I'm hope my review could help others to make their decision. We were staying in room which is facing the main road, it was noisy during night but the bed (better than some of the 5 star hotel) is too comfort for us and we did not really bother the traffic noise. The room is ok, bed sheet is clean however noticed some minor stains left on it. I think most if the rooms have been renovated and definitely fine with 3 star standard. Check in and out are prompt and staffs always offering their smile. They provided free shuttle services to 3 major shopping malls during a period which is a bonus point. Breakfast was so so however it could still feed you if you are not expecting a hearty meal. Overall, it is worth for paying for a 3 star hotel with very comfort bed, and within 2 mins walking distance to the train station.
Great value of money and location”
My third times stayed at the Sahid Hotel. Again, it is a very nice hotel. All staffs very attentive and also extremely helpful!! Thumbs up for that. Moreover, the location of the hotel is superb, you can just walked down to shopping plazas / restaurants (from locals to international) / monument, etc. Again, I Just hope to have wifi in the room in the future.

This would be my second stayed in the Sahid Surabaya. I requested for the city view and they did give us that. I would say, the hotel had done renovation to the rooms. Thumbs up for that. Which is making us cosy and comfort with our 3 nights stay. Apparently, it would be nice if there is a wifi around the room as I need to access a lot of things on internet rather than going down to the lobby via our smart phones. They do provide wifi, just need a password from the reception. Additionally, they were all friendly and nice. Moreover, rented mobile to roam around the city is very affordable. Thanks to Mr. Grego, Mr. Harjo & Mr. Sujud for the hospitality and gave a helping hand. Not forgetting to the front desk who had done a superb job! Well, super recommended!
Run down hotel with little maintenance”
The supreme room is a very basic room that deserve only 1 star. They still have bulky 90s TV set. Even with the deluxe room the LED tv still lousy tv connection. They have a fitness room with gym equipments of the 90s that is now antiques n dont seem to function.
Horrible hotel ”
I was stay one night in beginning of April . I have goid memories about this hotel in end 90s that in this moment look gone. A day in advance I was called staff for prepare extra bed but it is no action until I was arrived . Welcome staff vwry horrible no say hello event not have attitude to taken our bag until I called the staff for coming. Room did not maiintained well even is not clean , toilet was very dirty , hot water not work . I am wondering how come they are able run business like that, the service destroy their reputation. Definitely I will not back to this hotel

The hotel is well situated close to the CBD and Gubeng train station and this suited my purposes well. The front-desk staff were helpful, especially as I don't speak Indonesian and overseas visitors would find this useful. Strangely I didn't see one newspaper anywhere.
Stay for transitting from Gubeng to Jember”
Chose to stay here since it's the closest hotel nearby Surabaya Gubeng Station. Walking distance(5 minutes) from Hotel & on the same lane(so no need to cross the road) to reach the station. Breakfast was not warm enough.
Very dissapointing experience”
Room looked old, styled with a suitable old tv. Roomservice/Foodservice was poor, the restaurant staff was praying when we ordered, and I was told that we had to wait for the Cook was finished with his praying, took almost 1 hour. Almost everything on the menu is not available. During check out, I asked for a bluebird Taxi, but was told they did not want to order one for me, and said I could go my own to search for a bluebird by the road. Lazy attitude.
Good location by dirty, leaking, and poor facilities”
We checked in at 10.30pm at night, tired and hungry. Hotel location was near the train station with a 10min walk. 1) We bought an extra bed but the bed was not prepared. It was only sent to the room after a 30min wait, it was a mattress and not a bed. 2) The ceiling of the toilet was seriously leaking and we had to cover ourselves in towel when using the toilet bowl. 3) The kettle was spoilt and we had to call twice before getting a replacement. 4) There is a hidden light at the air-con condenser room which can only be switched off when the master switch is switched off, which means the plugs will not be working. We had to sleep with our eye mask on. Bad choice!
Sahid Hotel is just unrivalled for anyone who wants to catch a train from Gubeng station, 5 minutes walk without even crossing the road. Also close to city centre, various sights, malls, river - now lit up at night and quite pretty. But The Sahid is now renovating!1 After all those awful reviews. My room on the 7th floor looked stylish, attractive and comfy ..floor covering worn but clean.Bathroom fine. Now renovating floors 6 & 8. The air-conditioning ..much commented on ..is still poor and internet goes on and off..but I hope they're planning to get around to those when renovations more advanced. renovated rooms are good value.
I made the reservation for my colleague at this hotel because he will catch morning Train, finally he check out on 21.30 at the same day he check in because the Air conditioner (AC) on the room not working. It's Surabaya, the weather is really hot, he can't go to sleep without the AC. The hotel staff try to fix it but no improvement, the front desk said there no other room available to change and they didn't do anything about it. At least suggest or offer other hotel near them, but NO they didn't do it. It's a bad service, finally my colleague move to other hotel in front of this hotel.
Strategic location as we need to take an early morning train to Probolinggo. It took about 10 minutes walking from the hotel to Gubeng Station. Breakfast is superb. However, the room is quite old and the bathroom is not so clean.
