A Hidden Jewel in Beijing”
The, location and staff are truly 5 Star. The hotel is very near Yonghegong Lama Temple, Confucius Temple, Fantastic Restaurants and at a subway station for lines 5 & 2. The area is exceptionally safe and the people on the street are very friendly. The host for this special hotel was Jean. She speaks fluent English and was always available to plan out my daily travel in Beijing. Loved my stay at this very wonderful hotel.
Stop-over on the way to the great wall with public transportation”
It is close to the Dongzhimen Public Transport Hub, where busses are leaving to several great wall sections. That was my goal, since my arrival was in the afternoon. The staff is very helpfull, the rooms are ok, another "indoor courtyard" hotels. Nicely done, I would book it again.
The hotel is 5 minutes walking from Lama Temple. There are two floors, bedrooms which are in the first floor are better than the ones that are in the upper floor (toilet paper cannot be thrown in the toilet, bedrooms are smaller...) Staff speaks in English. There are restaurants in the area.
Good for a short stay”
The rooms have AC! — mercifully if you’re going to be in Beijing in the summer. This place is good for a short stay — near lots of restaurants, stores and close to several subway lines. The staff was really helpful at getting my laundry done with a quick turnaround time because I was leaving the next morning.
Great location, friendly staff”
This is a great location in the Hutong and pretty affordable.. Very close to the metro and ghost street (restaurant area). The hotel offers tours as well which was useful since we went on the great wall tour through them. The rooms were fine, nothing special. Has the basic amenities (tv, bathroom, a/c and wifi).
Nice old Beijing house style hotel ”
Few minutes walking to temple of lama and confucious and gost street and temple of earth and old hutongs of Beijing. So many restaurants and cafes around. Metro station only 8 min walk . 15 min by metro from tianman square and forbidden city and 12 min from wangfujing street and 20 min from ho houi back lakes by metro. 5 min by metro from victory gate at deshengmen where you can take bus to badaling gate at great wall. 15 min by metro from temple of heaven.
Experience the hutongs from your hotel! A quiet neighborhood where residents use electric bikes and electric scooters and 100 m further a bustling street. To the right the Lama temple and Confucius temple and a bit further the Subway station exit C for lines 2 and 5. To the left at the next traffic lights Ghost street lined with popular restaurants, but a hidden gem is the next hutong from the hotel which is lined with small restaurants with people dining under the trees! Hotel is a courtyard housing in the hutong converted to hotel. Quiet with good amenities (hot shower, good mattress, tv, airco etc. ). Only don't expect a wardrobe.
Close to Metro & Lama Temple”
Before I start my review, for those that are considering this hotel / or already booked, you must take EXIT F and then turn left once on the street level. Very handy when you know this. PRO: Price, some staff are nice, proximity to Metro and Lama Temple. It is close to many restaurants and shops if you walk a little bit further. In general, it is in the safe area. CONS: It is not in the most luxurious location. They are in 'hutong', re: within the residential area. If you are looking for the glamour - forget about it. Some staff are nice with limited English, so prepare for any translation app (text/voice) to get you through. The room is basic and you can hear the conversation of the other guests in the other room. Overall, this property is OK if you are under budget and if you want a place to stay for a few days.
Good location, reasonable price/quality ratio, friendly staff”
A really good location near Lama Temple. The subway station is 5 minutes walking, there are small shops around where one can get beverages for a reasonable (not tourist trap) price. The rooms are clean, air conditioning works well. Rooms are small but equipped with everything necessary. Water pressure in the shower is strong enough, water is heated in the boiler, thus one can enjoy a good hot shower. The whole place looks very authentic, it is worth trying. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, the only window is in the shower, so you have to choose between privacy and fresh air. It is pretty hard to get rid of humidity and hence the rooms stink a bit. Just don’t forget leaving the window and curtain in the shower open before you go out. Also if you want to invite guests in your room they should show their passports or IDs on the reception. Overall, it is probably the best you can get for such a low price near the city center. Fits for tourists trying to save some money.
There are better rooms than others, the bed is comfy but in the first floor u cannot throw toilet paper in the WC...the rooms that are in the first floor are better (bigger and with better toilets) Staff speak English and they are friendly.
Good location and value for money ”
Pros - location, helpful english speaking staff, value for money Cons - Problematic wifi inside room but okay in lobby. Dusty lampshades above bed. But these are small problems considering the cheap price paid during tourist season.
Great location, comfortable place to relax”
I've stayed here on several different occasions and have had great experiences each time. You really can't beat the location near the Lama Temple, and the staff is exceedingly helpful without being overbearing. On this last trip they were accommodating when I got a large package from elsewhere in China delivered to the hotel--they even helped me by taking apart part of the package I had to discard and then by carrying the package out to the end of the hutong for me when I left to go to the airport. I can recommend this place enough!
location is not bad with lots of eatery, restaurants around
Good comfort place to stay”
best bed so comfort, the location was awesome convenient just few steps from Lama Temple. The staffs are friendly. Everything seem so great here. Thanks for ur wonderful hospitality ❤️
My second visit, after a period of 3-4 years. The staff were as friendly as ever and the place is a real bargain. However it no longer serves breakfast or dinner, which I missed. One can buy only tea, coffee, beer and an expensive wine. The Tibetan restaurant, next door, has fine, inexpensive eating and they speak English.
Good hotel, if you don't need luxury.”
Good location, between metro stations Youshegong and Beixinqiao, behind Lama temple (tourist attraction object).Facilities: I would like some cupboard or shelf in the room. Staff:girls in reception were english speaking and very, very helpful. Good hotel, if you don't need luxury.
excellent hotel, good location....enjoyed the stay”
Arrived late due to flight delay, however the staff checked in promptly and we were straight away to our cozy warm bed! Room had all the basic necessity. The location is good as it is near to Ghost Street, Lama temple, confucious temple and subway 4-5 min walk! We chose this hotel because of the value for money and the english speaking staff review and we were not dissapointed at all! The staff english is good and to find such in Hotels in China is fortunate! I am totally happy with the service and everything and recommend it.
Nice small budget hotel in quite location.”
I personally like the location near Lama Temple and Ghost Street on a quite residential side street. The design of the hotel is pleasingly simple and the room was quite basic but comfortable enough. I stayed in a discounted room which was located on the 1st floor. The first room they showed was a window-less room. Asked for another room with a window which luckily the hotel had and did change without any fuss. Probably would not have enjoyed the window-less room. If you plan to stay for more then 1 day I would go for the upper floor rooms but it will cost a bit more. This is not a luxury hotel, but if your expectations are right, can be quite enjoyable for the cost.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Classic Courtyard. Simon and the rest of the staff were great with directions and recommendations. The hotel was only a few blocks from the metro, and you could probably throw a stone and hit the Lama Temple. Warning - the hotel is down a VERY narrow road, so be prepared to have a taxi drop you off and the end of the road, and you'll have to pull your suitcases down to the entrance.
