Not what we expected”
We traveled here during Songkran (April) and the place was an absolute ghost town. We had some issues with booking another resort on Agoda and at the last minute saw this place (only 2 rooms left) and without wanting to take any more time we went ahead and booked. The hotel first of all is on an island that you need to take a boat to (Probably would have realized this if I wasnt rushed into booking) and is far from Khao Lak so if you are interested in doing anything off island, it will be very expensive and taker some time. We arrived late at night, the rooms were great, clean and large, beautiful jacuzzi tub. In the morning we did not have the wonderful buffet breakfasts that we are used to in the big resorts in Thailand, instead had to order off a menu. At this point we noticed that there was really no one around, a few random people here and there, but thats it, no one in the tour desk, swim up bar didnt look like it had been used for months and just overall had a dead vibe.
Fantastic get a way from in all location.”
The hotel and grounds were located on the beach. The many pools were beautiful and the villas with pool view or sea view were very roomy. We loved that our villa had a one minute walk to the sea but not so keen on being woken up very early in the morning by the many coach loads of tourists who were were having an early breakfast to go on their coach tours but by eight oclock they had gone and the shouting ceased. It was very peaceful and tranquil during the day until the next batch of coaches arrived late afternoon.
Beautiful place to stay. Beach and pools were lovely. You take a ferry to the island and van picks you up at the pier and takes you to the hotel. Quiet place. Will definitely come back one day. Book a villa
Best hotel in koh kho khao”
New and clean hotel Big and clean room Many facilities Breakast have big choice of fresh and clean food Very big pool I recommend to eat at Restaurant of hotel the food is really good and reasonnable prices instead of eat at restaurant in island because i had a bad experience with some restaurant called lazy house the owner an european guy is cheating customer : the prices in bill higher than in menu and the total is wrong and he told me his wife dont know counting and i saw that happened with me and other table too so avoid eat there and try to eat at hotel better Cons: May be the island is small and no nightlife also it take time if u have car to reach other pier by ferry
best hotel of trip, great pool, on very quiet beach”
Hotel is on island (koh kor khao) bit near of Khao Lak and across on small ferry. Very quiet beach which was great. Pool so good for swimming. Well priced restaurant, bar and mini-bar in room. Great stay here for 2nights. Not much else to do on island though so probably won't stay here for a week, but loved it for short stay.
Great Thai food!”
The hotel was basically empty but still well kept and pretty much ready for high season. nice pool and nice clean beachfront. The thai food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and VERY nice. best Thai food we have had in a long time here.... considering the hotel was empty a free upgrade would have been nice!
Relaxing quiet getaway”
We loved this place so much we not only extended our stay but we came back the week after. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We felt like we were staying with friends. It was clean and rooms were spacious. We loved staying here.
Far from the main area”
My friends were staying at the Marriott I thought this beach was close to their hotel but it took me 30 min to reach the pier 5-7 min by boat and another15 min to reach this hotel .location is good if you was utter peace and quiet
Perfect secluded hotel”
Beautiful beachfront hotel on Koh Kho Khao. Takes about 2.5 hours to get to from Phuket airport. The ferry or long tail boat from the pier (only operates during daylight hours) takes 10 minutes. The hotel will pick you up and drop you back for free. The hotel is about 45 minutes north of Khao Lak. The hotel has a large swimming pool and great beach and there are plenty of sunbeds. The hotel was fully occupied when I stayed but was lovely and quiet. The beach goes for several kilometres to the north. Wonderful sunsets can be viewed from the beach. There are a variety of room styles. I stayed in the deluxe balcony room (standard room) which was huge and had great views of the pool and sea. I also stayed in a poolside villa which was enormous and beautifully appointed. The hotel restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced (Thai dishes were typically 150 - 200 baht and soft drinks 30 baht). A wonderful resort if you require peace and relaxation.
I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. Food was good, nice breakfast. Extremely large pool, always clean. Nice beach. Nice staff. They blew up my float for me. They care about the property; a child cut his knee in the pool from a missing tile & they had it fixed the next day. The only small issue we had was with checkout (& it was a shame the checkout staff attitudes soured at the end due to it). But still i would go back & recommend this place for the fantastic pool & large rooms.
Spent 6 days here in early March 2016, villa was fantastic, right on the beach, very comftable, lovely quiet island, limited evening eateries unless you are prepared to get a taxi away from the hotel, the only negative I could think of was that the hotel restaurant lacked atmosphher and everyone seemed to eat really early, no music quite often the only ones eating in the restaurant at 9 o`clock!, other wise fantastic, and would come again
Relaxing days at the Sunset Beach Resort”
We spent here 6 days with our two sons (6,3 years old) and were very satisfied. They loved the swimming pool with slides and the beach too. The staff is very friendly and doing everything to keep you satisfied. The resort (and location) is very quiet and relaxing, nothing for party-lovers!
A bizarre experience”
This was the last hotel we stayed at on our trip. From the moment we arrived to when we left, it was a bizarre experience. The hotel is about 12 months old and everything is new and presented well. We checked in and were shown to our room which was spacious, well equipped, clean and tidy. It was around lunch time so headed to find lunch and a drink. The first thing that struck us was where was everyone? We walked the length of the complex without seeing a single guest. We had the place to ourselves! We sat alone in the dining area laughing to each other about the ghost town we had entered. To our annoyance, due to the lack of guests, the beach bar was shut as was the games room. This meant in the evening the only place to have a drink was staying in the dining area which had no music playing. it also shut at 10pm. They did however have more staff than the Chinese railway who were clearly under utilised. It took 2 people to bring you a gin and tonic. One to carry the tray and another to put them on the table. Slowly guests appeared but this ranged from 3 to 6 couples. We were nervous about the freshness of the food due to a wide selection with such few guests eating it. Whilst we never had a bad meal, we avoided fish just in case. The pool is huge. Never had such a large pool to ourselves before. It also has a swim up bar but guess what?, that was shut too. The place is amazing and I truly hope they get busier so they can stay in business and also it will give the place some life. As it stands, if you want peace and quiet, you will certainly find it here.
breakfast let the hotel down!”
The room was superb and huge - staff great - spotless - bathrooms in the beachside bungalows were incredible. Beach bar wasn't open and massage only there one day but hotel was nowhere near half full. Our only real complaint was the breakfasts - everything was cold except the eggs. All stuff easily rectified. Would definitely return.
I have come here teo times and I am coming back. Love it. Perfect for children and its calm and quiet.
We already booked our next stay. We are going back next time and i recomended this place to people who are going to thailand and want a nice calm place to stay.
Relaxing as you can get
Amazing bang for buck ”
I would not recommend this place for tourists who are looking for fun, the hotel is family and old couple oriented. There's nothing going on around. The beach is not the prettiest but there's a lot of privacy.
We came here three years ago and were worried that it my have become too busy , but it was still an oasis of calm .The pools are beautiful and the rooms have every facility.
