Home away from home in Mandalay”
Wonderful home, away from home for a solo traveler. Happened on the opportunity of learning burmese cooking and had a great time with other guests, followed by a great meal. I was guided to Mandalay hill and did the climb; then, guided to the starting point of a recommended bicycle tour of Mandalay and survived the challenge. However, riding the back of a motor-cycle zooming about town was the most fun with time for occasional eats...and, I didn't get sick!

A nice stay at a heritage building~”
I could only stay in Mandalay for a short night without even having the breakfast the next morning, so I couldn't tell much about the place. The place is clean and beautiful, very quiet (maybe most people prefer the modern kind of hotel). There's a nostalgic feeling about the place with it's colonial style structure. I've a feeling that no so many people know about/stay in this place because the lady owner seems not so familiar with the registration process. She's very nice though I have to say. I wish I could stay here longer and really spend some time there if I ever go back to Mandalay!

Charming Guesthouse; Wonderful Hospitality”
A beautiful guesthouse with wonderful owners. Mama Alice is the perfect host, very gracious and accommodating. Make sure to have a meal there at least once. The food they served was one of the best local meals we had in Myanmar. A home cooked meal indeed. The rooms are big, spacious and clean. Nearby is a Thai massage place with blind masseuses. For an additional fee, the massage can be done in your room. Walking distance to the teakwood monastery, Mandalay Palace and the Mandalay Hill. Highly recommended.

Amazing stay ”
Mama & her son in law are accommodating ! I came across this white colonial building while I was half starved to death . After 12 hrs of day trip to inwa without much food , I was in a down mood .. Without any booking for tonites accommodation , I saw mama outside her guest house . I went up and asked if there is food .. my diet only allow me to eat fish & veg @ nite .. she went in & tried her best to sort out a delicious home cooked dinner for me @ 9 pm Not only they restarted the kitchen for me , it was the best meal I had since 3 days ... Plus , I guarantee u that u ll get a gd sleep .. I was staying in town last nite ., super noisy , room wasn’t as big as here . Plus lack of personal touch like mama guest house . Plus here got a nice balcony :) ... The son in law is super kind with a Singaporean accent .. we talked a bit & im now chilling in my cozy room :) . Forget those commercial hotels in town .. my trip wld be way more amazing if I stayed here the first nite :) ... I wld give this a 5 stars 🤩 experience

Excellent”
The staff was so welcoming after we arrived early morning from an overnight trip. Ma Ma helped us a lot planning our trip and gave us some nice advise for further travels. The guest house is clean, cozy and the breakfast with all the fruits was well worth it. Thank you very much for your time, we loved it here.

Warm welcome”
I stayed one night here, as a stopover between Bagan and a flight back to Bangkok. When I arrived, I was tired from a long trip, and was greeted with a warm welcome, a friendly smile and a nice glass of juice. The room was large, clean and (very important!) the shower was hot! In the morning, the staff again were so gracious. This guesthouse is like an oasis in Mandalay! The owners are lovely, and I only wish I had enough time here to take in one of their cooking classes.

Quality Guesthouse with Personal Service”
Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Nice amenities included. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The location is very good for attractions in north mandalay. Mama and Peacock (next door) are both owned by the same family. Peacock has nicer outdoor seating but mama has newer facilities. It is nice that you can kind of hang out in both as you please.

Perfect little guesthouse”
You will not find a kinder, more attentive staff in Myanmar than at MaMa. Alice (the MaMa in question) is a font of information on Myanmar history and culture, as is her daughter Su. Su is also an extraordinary cook; her $9 Burmese set meal is the best dining bargain in Mandalay. This is not a luxury hotel: no gym, uniformed staff etc. But it's clean, friendly, comfortable and a gem. Highly recommended.

The location might not be the best but it is the place to be in Mandalay. A lot of comfort in a guesthouse, and you feel like a guest, not a costumer. Good food too.

A nice and warm hotel”
Ma ma guest house is a nice house. I feel warm enough when i only stay 2 nights here. The garden is wonderful, i very enjoy when i having breakfast over there. Only one thing i feel sad, it is no hot shower for our first night, i asked for the staff but finally cant help. We did a cold shower in 17 degree at that night 😌😌

Wonderful efficient hosts”
Small family run business. Room was fine. We thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Burmese dinner the hostess cooked for us. We would highly recommend this to all guests. Hostess needs advance notice to prepare dinner. They charge a very reasonable price for it. Great dinner.

A Burmese Gem”
A fabulous, boutiquey, family run business, the reception we received was warm and generous and was not, like so many other hotels in Myanmar, overcharging or over reaching. They have a very small and simple hotel that is down to earth and attentive to the basic needs of travellers; a comfortable, clean, safe self contained room, centrally located and everything was in working condition. We only wish we had more time to stay. And dear Alice! What a treasure!

Very helpful in booking great day tours and transportation to other towns. Only negative was that we did not care for location- seemed way out of town and not pedestrian or public transport freindly...but that is an issue in Mandalay overall, perhaps.

The dinner was awesome. There are 2 options for the dinner set (Burmese style), it’s worthwhile to try them all. The European style breakfast is simple but the quality is good. The stuffs are attentive and helpful, but only the hostess can communicate well in English. Before I went there, I asked many questions for my itinerary to the hostess via email, and she did help a lot, including book the tickets of marionettes show. The room is simple, kind of old but still ok. We didn’t get problems of noise and slept well in our stay.

Wonderful Mandalay stay”
Our stay was comfortable and we were well looked after. Although we did not do it ourselves, the cooking course on offer looked terrific. The staff booked us boat trip tickets and made us hotel reservations in Bagan. Excellent!
