I recently had the pleasure of staying at Maayo Argao Resort, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, and we were escorted to a beautifully maintained room with a stunning view. The resort itself is breathtaking — well-designed with a perfect balance of luxury and nature. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the rooms, common areas, and poolside lounges truly stood out. Every corner felt like it was thoughtfully crafted to provide a peaceful and relaxing ambiance.
Maayo Argao has been one of the main attractions in South Cebu since it opened, and it didn't disappoint. Their decision on making it a pet-friendly hotel was inarguably one of the best they've made. PLACE Cozy and spacious. It was a very strategic spot that gives you elegance and peace of mind, while not being too far from the main town proper STAFF Very attentive and proactive. Smiles all throughout that'll make you feel welcomed and valued as a guest. We are most appreciative of their resto staff that consulted the kitchen if they could make plain boiled chicken for our furry one (unfortunately, didn't happen. maybe they got a bit busy or possibly the kitchen did not agree). ROOM The pathway going to their rooms give out a "Plantation Bay/Shangrila" feel, where you can opt to walk if coming from the lobby/resto/pool area. They also have shuttles if you want a fast one. The family room was great! Spacious and cozy because of their mediterranean motif, though there are some areas they could fix (in our case, the shower door was creaking loudly). A bit of an advice - since they made their complexes with precast metal, your heavy footsteps will be heard by the guests under if you're staying on the upper floors. FOOD They say the breakfast buffet will tell you if the hotel is good - and Maayo Argao did not disappoint! We had a very good food lineup, mostly suited for Pinoy palate. The dinner buffet was quite meh, though we enjoyed their barbecue and noodle station. While I fully understand their intent of delivering an Asian Fusion buffet, I hope that they serve food that is quite similar to Pinoy cuisine so that guests won't have that unpleasant "surprise factor" when eating. The hainanese chicken is quite a niche cuisine, and what they served had a very strong coconut aftertaste. It's not something Pinoys would enjoy. 11/10 would go book again. Stayed here for 2 nights. Standard room was just okay. The bed was very comfortable, but the sink faucet turned when turning on and off the water. The shower would only turn hot if you used the hand held shower head and not the overhead spout. The staff here were incredible. They were always asking if we were okay and/or needed anything. The food was something that other reviewers didn't really like, unfortunately I was in that same boat. The food was "just okay" nothing flavorful or amazing. Just sort of bland tasting food. The hotel is extremely beautiful, especially at night. The pool is perfect and it was easy to get in and out. They even have a kids version of the pool. The one thing that bothered me was not being able to drive to your rooms to drop off and pick up luggage, as the rooms are not exactly close to the parking area.. You need to call a shuttle and they will help you, unless you try to check in after 6pm.. Then you are on your own. Overall.. I really liked the hotel and I felt very safe with my family there. There are of course things that I really thought should be improved, such as room maintenance and the food. But overall I would definitely stay here again, but next time I would definitely upgrade my room. Did iI mention the incredible staff??
Despite being a so-called “pet-friendly” resort, we were asked to leave the premises of the pool area where my father and my puppy were seated by the sun chairs. Mind you, there were no signages that indicated pets were not allowed in the vicinity of the pool. We abided by one of the resort’s rules that stated pets should be leashed around the property, so it was to our great confusion why we were ousted out of the pool area, with one of the staff telling us, “A lot of people are complaining, so it’s better to leave” (pertaining to our puppy, who wasn’t doing anything but walking around). Quite frankly, the experience is alienating as a pet owner. If certain areas aren’t allowed for pets, they should say so or have signages. If you restrict areas of the resort for pets, might as well not allow them altogether. Also pet fees are so expensive and they don’t even provide dog beds, essentials (like Dusit Thani Mactan) Also, we had ordered food for dinner at the restaurant. Our food took almost an hour and half (even more if estimated), only for the staff to tell us one of the dishes we ordered wasn’t available. Though kudos to the wait staff for being attentive enough to get us another dish for our main course. It was frustrating because it was almost 9 p.m. and we haven’t had our food yet. The amenities of the resort are top-notch. It was a relaxing experience if not for the two frustrating ones that my parents and I had to experience. Maayo Argao can do better in those areas.

“Awesome Experience at Maayo Argao”
We had an amazing weekend at Maayo Argao Resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly nice and approachable, always ready to help with a smile. The resort really made the experience special for everyone. There was face painting for the kids and a fun bingo activity for the adults, which created such a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for the whole family. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax and unwind. The food was another highlight! Everything we tried was amazingly yummy and well-prepared. Overall, it was a wonderful stay filled with great service, fun activities, and delicious food. We truly enjoyed our time and would definitely love to come back!
