Best In Ban Phe”
Have stayed a number of places in Ban Phe but now return to Mac Garden each time. It's normally very quiet, easy access to Samet boats, great staff, good food at fair prices, excellent coffee. The bungalows are very simple, clean and nice. Good value for the money.
The Only Quiet Place To Stay In Ban Phe”
If you have to stay at Ban Phe, Mac Garden is the best place. Clean, quiet, good food, close to Samet ferry and anything else you might need while in Ban Phe.
Mac Garden Resort& Restaurant”
The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. But the standard rooms do not have a window (only an airvent close to the bathroom) nor a balcony or any other form of outside sitting possibility. The garden of the Mac Garden resort is a big concrete parking lot (well, with some trees inbetween). The superior rooms looked quite nice, but they have a different price of course. The big restaurant was not open at our time (peak season) and seemed abandones, but they had a small but nice outdoor bar/cafe open during the daytime.
Nice hotel, Quite location, Perfect for koh Samet”
We booked mac garden as a stop off point before travelling to koh samet, this was after a long flight from the UK so really it was nice just to get our heads down.Rooms really nice and clean, and staff very friendly and helpful, not much around the hotel, few shops and bars, but after long day travelling not bothered, would stay here again if travelling to koh samet, 1 night only
Nice bungalow and great restuarant”
Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was some of the best we had on holiday. The location to get to Koh Samet each day if you want to will save you more expensive hotels on the Island. We enjoyed our time at Macs Garden Resort. Thank you
Perfect for our stopover”
The stay at Mac Garden was exactly what we were after. We arrived on a bus from Bangkok at about 8pm and left at 9am to catch a ferry to Koh Samet. The room was comfortable and clean. It was twin beds and mine was broken but I still slept fine. I would stay again if I was heading back to Samet.
A bunch of surprises!”
The location of this hotel is it's USP, absolutely next to the Ban-Phe Pier for ferries to Koh Samed. Also close to the local market with a couple of convenience stores (7/11 & daily tops) a few minutes away. This isn't a building, but more like a ground floor house with a row of rooms (standard) & wooden cottages. The place around the houses is truly beautiful with exotic orchids and other flowers. There isn't a lobby actually, most of the action takes place at the restaurant. The restaurant is very interesting in it's decor, must see. The rooms were clean, but very basic, but I suppose for the cost it is fair. The beds were kinda hard compared to what I'm used to but not uncomfortable. The staff are just about familiar with English but one can manage. The food is slightly expensive and if you are looking to eat Thai, there's a lady next door who makes a decent meal at half the price. Also few other street vendors set up their carts across the road. All in all, had a pleasant stay.
Bunglow room is nice, hot water supply, free wi-fi, all the stuff are friendly but speak very limited English. The manager (I think he was) can speak quite good English and Chinese. The hotel located almost in the middle of Ban Phe, not a big town after all. Not far from pier to Koh Samet, and 7-11 about 5 minutes away (by foot).
Friendly staffs, great location”
Check in late as we reach DMK at 11+pm, reach hotel at 1+am. Very fast check in and the staffs guided us to our room. Room is ok for the cheap price, decent bed and shower and whole place looks clean and neat. About 8-10mins walk to Ban Phe Pier
Wooden House with relatively big room”
We only had one night at Mac Garden. The room in the wooden teak house close to the pier with the ferries to Koh Samet was good value for the money. Booked the room without breakfast, but expected to buy breakfast in the restaurant in the morning. But no breakfast served before 9.00, which was to late for us, as we had a ferry to catch. Ongoing construcktion on the location was not an issue for us, except we had problems finding the reception. Parking facilities very good. Susie (Denmark)
We stayed on the deluxe wooden huts. The rooms we nice. However mac restaurant abdominal resort is primarily a restaurant and the resort is not staffed a night except for the might watchman.
if you absolutely have to stay in Ban Phe”
Stayed due to an event nearby. Much the same as 2 years ago when we stayed here first time round. Place hasnt changed at all. high end rooms still look brand new. staff as almost non existent which is no big deal. has reaturant but didnt appear open. Had issue one night with the shower and no water. Also had an annoying light outside room which made sleeping not the best. All in all its a good option if you must stay in Ban Phe.
Limited facilities but beautiful bungalow”
Booked here for a last minute get away on a long weekend. This place makes a good base to get around Rayong and nearby islands. It's a 5-10 minute walk to numerous ports offering trips to a number of places. We made a day trip to Samet Island (Haad Sai Keaw) which cost us a grand total of each (return). The staff were pleasant, especially the bar tender / cook
you would only stay in ban phe if you miss the last ferry to koh samet - which is what we did. the cottage we stayed in is located at the back of the hotel, which means that we were not disturbed by the noise from the street. for one night the cottage was more than sufficient, but basic; comfortable bed, clean room, tv and aircon.
Very attractive restaurant and reception area”
ban phe is not the most scenic spot in thailand and mainly just a place to get off the coach prior to going on elsewhere like koh samet. however, mac garden is ok if you recognise the rooms are basic, very basic. didn't see or stay in the few bungalows they have which look very nice from the outside.
Peaceful & pet friendly”
we came over songkran (water festival) and the resort was quiet and peaceful. staff were happy and friendly. another great point was its pet friendly. the location is great for taking day trips to samed but other than that there really is nothing else here. a few very thai seafood resturants and that's about it. however the hotel it's self does very good thai food.
we stayed in standard room - spacious and equipped with all the necessary furniture. Two power sockets located right under the ceiling ?!? (too high to be reached even from the chair), third one behind the TV cabinet which I had to move and disconnect the TV in order to charge my phone. At the time of our stay the whole resort seemed to have an issue with water pressure - unlike in other places, it was too high. I first found out when I nearly torn myself apart after using a toilet (who was in Thailand knows what I'm on about), then struggled in shower switching the heater on and off as the water was either too cold or too hot. After dinner we found the place flooded with water splashing from bursted pipe under the bathroom sink. They offered us another room, but no need to as the problem was solved within the minutes with floors being wiped and dry. We also had to give up our morning shower not risking an electric shock after we've heard the water heater switch popping out of the unit (due to the water pressure) leaving the scent of burned plastic behind. Otherwise the resort is easy to find with beautiful garden and helpful staff.
Classy wooden hotel with warmth”
the stay was good. all to ourselves stand alone resort type wooden bangalow. with big bed, big room and all the necessary facilities except no wireless. convenient location with readily available food and massage.
Good service, nice decorations in public area”
Ban phe itself offers nothing to see. Hotel was worth the money. Standard room was adequite but nothing more, we recommend a deluxe room, it seemed nice.
this was kind of an unusual hotel as in there is not a front desk, but other than that it was good. i stayed in a cabana style room, really enjoyed the space and decor. i did inquire about a scooter and five minutes later i had one. it was a funny place to stay, good restaurant too.
