Awesome hotel
This is a classy boutique hotel, with clean and spacious rooms. Facilities are modern. Reception was able to check me in at 7am in the morning when I arrived early from my flight. Very professional and helpful staff in Macdonald!

Great location, very small room
You could not stay closer to the Castle unless you were related to the Queen. The public areas were very nice. The room was very small, with a less than queen size bed. Towels were excellent as was lighting. Parking was outrageously expensive.

Great location
Perfectly located for Windsor, staff are very attentive and good sized rooms for a boutique hotel right in town.

it's a very nice clean and modern hotel. I was surprised that there are no secondary locks on the room doors! I travel approximately 90 days a year and I don't think I ever recall being in a hotel that doesn't have a secondary lock or chain. So basically anyone with a master key can enter the room at any time.

Reality
I love the style of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable. Location....just across the road from the castle.
On the surface the hotel looks lovely and location could not be better however it was a huge disappointment. There was no parking...told we should have prebooked but there was no mention of this. When we asked if there was room we were told it was £30 to park which I think when you're paying over £200 a night it's pretty poor. When I checked into the hotel I only had a debit card with me which I originally paid for the hotel with. However I was told I could not use this for any charges to the room. At this point I wasn't too bothered as we were going to a wedding and wasn't going to be about much. We were rushing to get ready for the wedding and there was a knock on the door. A lady came in and out 3-4 times stocking the mini bar. Thought this was odd as I expected this to be done before we arrived but let it go. When we got back from the wedding having parked in a public car park down the road we decided to have a quick drink in the bar. The bar staff were lovely but having ordered drinks I was told I could not pay cash as they had cashed up and couldnt pay by card or have it charged to my room as I hadn't got a credit card against my room. At this stage my partner was getting agitated. I said it was ridiculous and they spoke to someone on reception where I meeded to go and eventually they charged yo room and took my debit card to pay or so I thought. When discussing this I was told I had charges already against my room for the mini bar. I told then what had happened and how surprised I was that they only checked it after we checked in so the charges were nothing to do with us. They agreed to remove the charges but you can imagine I was getting pretty fed up. The next morning after a good nights sleep we went for breakfast to be told the restaurant was full. We were eventually put in a small conference room next door. We were offered tea/coffee etc which didn't come. There were hot trays which were empty. 30 minutes later breakfast was served but not much left.

Clean, quite, comfortable.
Ok, but overpriced for was essentially a fairly standard hotel room with a view of the roof and air conditioning units.

Great location
Great location close to Windsor Castle
I booked a Double Executive room, and 3 standard rooms at the same time as we have a big family gathering in Windsor. However, we found there is not much different of double Executive room and the standard room. We finally pay more money to upgrade to executive suite which I found more Value for Money. But for the compliantry for my parents wedding annuversary, there is only a cup cake. A little bit disappointed about this. Others are all fine.
