Had a wonderful stay for the price paid. The rooms are beautiful and quite clean. Hostel is overall good and welcoming. I joined in pub crawl activity which was nice. Out of 3 just 1 day, I observed couple of cockroaches which was a bit scary. Also beach sand or any dust on the floor needs to be cleaned because the same carries to the bed. Rest the hostel is amazing! Proximity to beach,atm,seven eleven, restaurants, Bangla road / everything you need is awesome!

Absolutely, here's a more assertive and impactful version of your review: --- Unacceptable Guest Treatment – Basic Hospitality Missing I booked Mad Monkey Phuket with the intention of enjoying a lively, social atmosphere — which, to be fair, the place does offer. However, the experience was marred by a shocking lack of basic hospitality and concern for guest well-being. My wife fell ill with a bad cough and fever during our stay. Naturally, we requested a kettle in the room — a standard amenity in any hotel or even a well-run hostel, especially for the price I’m paying. Instead of a simple “yes,” I was told by reception to collect hot water from the bar whenever needed. Later that evening, when my wife was too unwell to step out, I went to the bar to request hot water — only to be sent back to reception. The reception staff, clueless and completely indifferent, told me to “get it from outside.” This isn't just poor service — it’s outright negligence and an appalling disregard for the comfort and health of paying guests. We spent the entire night uncomfortable and stressed, not just because my wife was unwell, but because of the complete lack of support from the staff. I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable — just hot water for a sick guest, something any decent establishment would have taken care of without a second thought. Being a hostel does not mean ignoring common sense hospitality or treating guests with such coldness. It’s not about luxury, it’s about care — something that was glaringly absent during our stay. Mad Monkey Phuket needs to seriously re-evaluate its customer service training and its priorities. A smile and a good vibe won’t compensate for basic human decency and responsiveness in times of need. Until that changes, I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values even the most basic standards of guest care. The hot water was provided only after the Bar/ kitchen opened (as per their protocols) without any concerns towards guest's well being.

“A mixed bag of management styles”
Overallmad money in Thailand is way over priced period. This is why i rate it Lower in terms of value but this one in particular I’m torn because of the approach of the female Thai manager being very combative from jump. Any time i interacted with her she was already defensive and combative, especially when first are calm and being reasonable she can’t function- because i never lost my cool lol she is probably used to guest being drunk or getting pissed and combative which i could understand why if they are not mature enough to understand her management style she’s aggressive for no reason - we call her a “Red” personality type in leadership. Look overall the other manager made my stay more comfortable not to kiss his but but he uses logic and is reasonable and helped me out. shout out the the Aussie night time manager i think James? He changed my mind about a previous review i left in Google -will update that one later. What can i say, I’ve stayed at EVERY MAD MONKEY and have to pub crawl shirts to prove it! The one is Sydney is completely independent J belive because the consistency of the SEA branding is immaculate (pls someone tell that mad money owner that it’s making the brand look bad), side note: favourite mad money 2 of them the original duh in Cambodia but also the new one in Hanoi knows what’s is up. God bless the female manager she got where she is by being that way but she need to chill lol
