Find hotels near Mae Haad in Ko Tao, Thailand

We got a free room upgrade for our honeymoon which was awesome. The location is a quick 3 minute walk to the pier and all the restaurants in Mae haad. We stayed 3 nights in one room and decided to extend our stay and had to switch to a new room. The first room had working AC but the room wasn't frozen. The second had AC that was in full force. It is Thailand an every now and then you get that sewer funk. However as Thailand goes this was very mild. For the price this is a great place. The pool is big and has a swim up bar. A few tiles are missing in the floor of the pool but again this isn't the Ritz. Staff was very friendly and let's you store your bags if the room isn't ready. The free breakfast is not bad. Egg station bacon bread fruit and random Thai food. For free Thailand breakfast this is pretty great for the price. The beach isn't the best and most people adventure out on bikes or quads to other places. So don't expect to relax on the beach right out the hotel even though they have a small swim section and chairs. Ao Leuk was our favorite beach which was a 30 min walk but most people taco or motor bike over. The wi fi strength isn't strong but works at the pool and loby well. They did have a truck waitin to pick us up at the pier when the boat arrived as well. If we come back to koh tao we would book again. For the price it is hard to beat on this part of the island (green season around 65 a night)

We stayed in the Superior Hut which was great for us, really lovely bungalows in nature and such a peaceful place. Great buffet breakfast and arguably the best set up on the entire beach for relaxation - beach lounges, elevated day beds, beach bar and tyres for use in the water. We didn't have dinner at the restaurant as it was fairly pricey compared to other good restaurants on Koh Tao and had a bit of a middle age vibe. Everything else though was great, and also fyi instead of drinking the water in your bar fridge (30 baht per bottle), nip down to Mae Haad 5 minutes away and pick up a 6 pack of water for 30 baht total to put in the fridge. Also best to bring insect repellent in the low season.The beach directly in front of Sensi is very shallow in the low season but still has some good snorkelling, and if you walk 10 minutes around the point past Charm Churee Resort, there is the beautiful Jansom Bay with deep clear water and wonderful snorkelling! You just have to pay 200 baht entry as it's owned by the resort, but it works out ok if you stay the whole day! Overall we'd recommend Sensi Paradise to anyone, it was the perfect getaway to really reset and fully relax in a beautiful setting.

Accommodation was beautiful on the beachfront. Water was clear and beach was cleaned every morning by lovely staff. We loved the location and found Mae Haad a lot cleaner and more friendly than Sairee Beach. Prandees restaurant was excellent with authentic thai food at great prices (next to Ananda villas near pier. Reception and all staff were brilliant Thai food at restaurant yummie and very delicious! The green tiled pool was super clean and unique...would definitely come here every time on Koh Tao.

We liked our room so much, it's cleaned up perfectly every day. Fluffy nice towels provided. The best thing was its quietness, you hear nothing but only waves coming and going while sleeping, which was absolutely lovely. We stayed at superior pool view, but you can see the sea too from your room actually. The shower was good although you have to wait for a while to get hot water. They are still working on their private beach, so it was not perfect and clean yet, which was a bit shame thinking of the cleaness of the rooms. The restaurant can be improved better?? We prefered having breakfast at Cafe Delsol on Mae Haad, yes it's only 5min beach walk to the port and the centre of Mar Haad. Also it's only 10-15min walk to Sairee Beach. But the road is quite rough, steep and dark, so you'd better carry your small torch with you when going out in the evening. The reception desk is open at 8am, we wanted to check-out eariler for the ferry ride, but we couldnt, anyway, we were in time for the ferry to Koh Samui though. In total, it was a lovely hotel.

Clean well appointed apartments with great views over Mae Haad port and Sensi beach Close to loads of restaurants and bars but nice and quiet after 11pm so a good nights sleep was never a problem. With the beach and great snorkelling right on your doorstep there is always plenty to see & do here. Not the cheapest accommodation on the island but you are paying for the location and easy access for diving (all the dive boats leave from Mae Haad) and also some great walks up to Banana Rock and Janson Bay.

Me and my boyfriend stopped here 6 nights. First of all it’s tucked away from the Main Street which is nice as it’s not loud with people but it’s easy to get to shops etc. When we arrived it’s a little easy to miss but we managed to find it and the staff from the reception was lovely. She even helped us with booking a ferry and coach back to Bangkok 👍. The WiFi is surprisingly good out there and the beds were super comfy. We got free water and coffee everyday and the cleaners were really friendly too. I would probably go back here as it was very comfortable to stay and we were sad too leave.

The room was very comfortable, with nice modern Ikea furniture and lighting. Even though the guesthouse is right on one of the main roads in Mae Haad, our room was toward the back and so very quiet. If you are diving or snorkeling or just hanging out in Ko Tao, I would highly recommend Infinity Guesthouse. Its central location made it very easy to get wherever we wanted to go, including walking up to Sairee Beach for dinner and down to Sai Nuan Beach for some snorkeling from the shore. It felt like a lovely little haven to return to from our excursions. Only downside was that wifi did not work in our room.

we loved this place so much we book and extra few days. our room was lovely, clean, had a cute balcony and great view of the beach which is all of 15 meters away. the staff were very friendly and helpful. the location was perfect (3 minutes’ walk from the ferry), we were right in the middle of the mae haad and sairee beach (the 2 main bays) so it was easy enough to walk over the hill and go for a swim at sairee beach then wander back. mae haad definitely had the better places to eat, but sairee beach was great place to go for a drink on the beach

We stayed at the Simple Life resort for 5 nights. You do not pay much for a private 'house'. The room is not that big, but we found it big enough. The bathroom is quite large. On the first day we had no warm water and there are no windows in the room. Only some open windows. Not that well for the mosquitos of course. We contacted the staff and the boiler was fixed right away. It's pretty good for what you pay for it! The location is well. You can walk to Mae Haad centre by the pier in like 10 minutes and walk to Sairee Beach centre in like 15-20 minutes. The boulevard to both places are full of diving centres, bike rentals, restaurants and everything so it's a good walk! The pool is good but most of the time they are learning to dive out there. But that's no problem, you can enter the pool whenever you want. There's also a small private beach at this resort, really perfect!

Stayed in Black Wood with a friend two nights ago. Was pleasantly greeted by a local who had good English and supplied us with plenty of advice and recommendations by writing and circling out things on a map, which he then gave to us. Later that night we asked him which was the best way to grab a taxi to the bars, and he voluteered to give us a lift free of charge. If we didn't have our scuba diving course already booked, which includes accommodation, we would still be there now!

Nadapa Resort is a very nice and quite modern hotel (except for the TV, but who goes to Thailand to watch TV...), which is located very close to the Mae Haad pier. The rooms were clean, shower and toilet were working well. From the balcony you have a nice view to the mountain and you even can see the sea. The staff are super friendly. The hotels has no restaurant, but there are plenty of nice and affordable restaurants around. Facilities of the hotel include a small kiosk for postcards, some cold drinks and snacks. They also rent motorbikes.

I have been traveling for a long time in Asia, and this spot wasn’t the worst , but not the best either. The staff didn’t speak English very well but with the app you can get done everything you need. The place is super simple, and if you want a spot to just sleep and keep your stuff, go for it. But if you want to relax seeing the ocean, or eat something good while reading a book, search for a better option in the island. In overall, its a valuable place for the price, but only to sleep. We made a late check in and didn’t had any problems.

What can I say about Queen resort, it was very, charming? Nah it was really cool to be honest, I saw some reviews about the area of the bungalows being quite dirty, and it is, but it’s not the worst, we didn’t know what we were being led to when the lady on the desk walked us round, but the room was actually quite nice! Felt like we had gone back to the 70s but was actually a really cool room, and the view from the balcony, absolutely beautiful by far my best view of the sunset of the whole holiday. Bathroom was very outdated, needs a bit of renovation but that is probly the only thing I can complain about, and even then it’s not even a complaint, it did the job you needed it to do aha. The location was also good, it’s smack bang in the middle of both main beaches, although it’s at the top of a steep hill it’s not all bad. Definatley recommend if your not too fussy :)

Right next to the pier but 15 min walk to the main beach. Thankfully Bro&Sis were the only bar/lobby open late in the area with a great fun vibe that had a few pool tables and music so it made it worth being further away. We had the basic double room but the view was literally bars facing a contruction building you could probably touch if you opened the window, on another note the shower pressure was the best we've ever used with tons of hot water too!

When we have arrived at guesthouse she showed us the room and asked us to come to reception once ready so she could show us some great spots on the map (beach, restaurant, etc.). Her suggestions were great. She also helped us with motorbike rental. She called the guy and after 10 min motorbike was infront of the guesthouse. She is really nice person and it was really plesaure staying there!

i book two nights ended up staying 5 the owner is so nice and welcoming she makes you fell at home and she cooks thai food every night which is good food. the facilities are a bit basic and the shower lacks water presser but you get what you pay for. but if you are looking for a nice friendly place with a lovely own who makes you fell at home then this is the place for you

terribly dirty. Been travelling all over thailand and know that maintenance hasn't been MAINTAINED! Dirty bed, dirty towels, insects both dead and alive, only a fan which was no problem but the window couldn't open. there's a difference between rustic and just plain dirty. Not recommended. I asked for a refund because there was no way I was going to stay there but they wouldn't refund the money.

I stayed at this place for two nights and I enjoyed the stay since it's in walking distance from the pier and has a really nice beach a few minutes away as well. It does get quite loud during the evening since it's rather a bar/party hostel. So if you're looking for partying and a few funny nights your at the right spot, but if your staying longer and want to really enjoy this beautiful island, I would rather advise you to look for a place further away from the pier and Haad Sairee:)
