A beautiful tropical garden oasis, lovingly looked after like it's guests”
First mention must go to owners Ian and Pop who did so much to help, recommend, advise and above all, make me feel at home. They even took me out for dinner on my first night, treated me to some of the most delicious Thai cuisine I've ever tasted and shared a few beers. The place itself with it's beautifully tended gardens, quaint little villas and tranquil pool really do make you feel like you are in paradise. It's perfectly located to explore the beautiful region of Mae Rim and neighbouring Mae Hong Son and Chiang Dao. Ian and Pop are full of recommendations of places to go eat and take in the beautiful scenery. The taxi from the airport was 330 baht for a very pleasant, scenic 45 minute journey. I will definitely come stay again. Miss it already.
Pop and Ian have created a truly lovely place with its own special spirit. The garden is amazing and filled with so many beautiful details and art. During our 4 days there we were mainly just relaxing around the pool and house and enjoyed the nature and serenity. Pop was a wonderful host and spotted our needs either for food or space, provided us with tips and places to visit and arranged the transportation. The restaurants were a bit further away, but it was not a problem to make a longer walk or call a driver. Thank you so much for hosting us - we hope to come back soon!
Friendly, beautiful and relaxing”
We had a really nice stay here. The hosts are so friendly and kind. The houses are so nice, the garden is beautiful and the pool area We just loved. They helped us arranged with scooter rent and ride from the AirPort. If you would explore Mae rim area then This is a really good place to stay in✨
the name speaks for itself - this is truly a garden!”
I have a bungalow facing the pond. I can feel that that the owners put great effort in creating artsy details to make the bungalow unique. I turned on every light inside the wood in my room at night and the effect was a wow. It's also a comfortable stay too - towels and body wash are provided. There's also a full length mirror. And what's more - umbrellas. Each bungalow is some distance away with its own secret place to hang so even it was fully booked during my stay, it was like I was the only guest. Breakfast is good with fruits, bread, coffee, juice. The owners Ian and Pop are so amazing that I think when I visit next time I will put "chat with them" on my itinerary. Lastly, I would suggest those who come to Mae Rim to rent a car/motorcycle to explore this area.
Awesome if you want to unplug...”
Beautiful villas, sweet pool and a quiet location - perfect spot to unplug and read a book (the paper type).. plenty of nice cafes nearby and Ian recommended some rippers.. no a/c but villa well ventilated with a fan, no tv but to be fair you have beautiful HD-3D views from your villas.. def coming back with the kids...
We had a truly fantastic time during our stay at Mae Nai Gardens. The owners, Ian and Pop are super friendly and helpful so it feels like staying with old friends rather than in a resort. The rooms and all facilities are new and very clean (no creepy crawlies in the room even though you're almost in the jungle). I would recommend staying at Mae Nai Gardens if you're looking to relax and get away from everything as it's quite remote. You will need a car to get around, especially to go out for dinners. But there are plenty of great small restaurants within a 10mins drive.
Fantastic stay in a beautiful place!”
This is our second stay at Mae Nai Gardens, and we were every bit impressed with it as we were the first time. Ian and Pop are extremely accommodating and make every effort to help you make the most of your stay in the Mae Rim area. The bungalow was beautifully decorated with cultural art and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and always comes out quickly, as you're kindly greeted by the owners each morning. The pool was refreshing and clean- it is beautifully designed. Also, the resort grounds are lushishly landscaped with a wide array of plants and trees. Pop has made it a true escape! I can't say enough good things about the resort and the owners, and I very strongly recommend that you make Mae Nai Gardens your home when visiting the Mae Rim area! We will surely return again to see our friends, Ian and Pop, and enjoy the gorgeous grounds of the resort and area of Mae Rim!
Perfect for our getaway”
The resort was beautiful, spacious, clean and quiet which is exactly what we needed for our mini break. The owners (Pop and Ian) were just amazing!!! They were so friendly and kind which make us feel like home. We will definitely go back xx
Beautiful grounds and very hospitable owners”
We had a truly delightful experience during our stay at Mae Nai Gardens. Upon arrival, Ian greeted us warmly and ensured our comfort of the area- pointing out restaurants and orientation. Pop was also very helpful and kind, and the two helped make our stay very memorable. We also appreciated the kind and competent drivers to Chiang Mai and nearby attractions contacted/arranged by Ian. We HIGHLY recommend staying here, as you will be very pleased with Mae Nai Gardens! My wife and I plan to make this a regular getaway destination, and anyone who stays here will understand why!
Amazing hotel with super nice owener”
The owner Ian and Pop are very nice and patient. The place is very beautiful and breakfast is delicious home-made with fruits, bread, eggs and so on. At the end day of staying, Pop also recommended another nice place for our lunch - Four season and booked for us. The atmospher is good and food is also nice with very fair price. We even got discount from Pop. It is strongly recommend to stay in Mae Nai if you want to have a relax and enjoy the private time.
Nice Staff, all are so friendly and helpful”
The owner Pop was really nice and the staff there gave us a warm vacation. Pop do care of his guests and treat them as his family! And the place was so comfort and nice, so it is super value for money.
Friendly staffs and excellent services”
Worth for value of staying & better from what you see in the pictures. Very nice warm service by the owners & Staffs. Good location to other tourist attractions. But you may need a car or well google map to get there...( otherwiese you may get lost easily )
The grounds are lovely & Pop & Ian were really wonderful hosts! Loved it.
Ian and Pop the hosts were outstanding. Helpful and friendly in every possible way. The hotel and gardens are really lovely but guests need to understand that it is in a rural setting. The taxi that was arranged for us was excellent and we particularly loved the artwork that was an integral part of the house and grounds. We would definitely come back.
This is a place worth travelling to, just to be there. We were so sorry to just spend one night. A beautiful, calm wooden hut surrounded by dense vegetation and sounds of nature. The tiny resort (5 dwellings only) bears the very personal stamp of our generous hosts, Ian & Pop.
Fantastic Peaceful Stay in Mae Rim”
This is a great place! I can't say enough good things about it. We just stayed at Mae Nai Gardens for a week with our family of four plus and just moved to another place in Mae Rim for a week. It is a very nice resort with all the nice amenities and restaurant and beautiful grounds, but I am having remorse about not staying the entire time at Mae Nai Gardens. Something about the peace and quiet and simplicity of it all gives it a unique soul that I am not getting here this week and am missing now. I may go back next week and stay another week or two. First off, let me tell you what it is and what it isn't. If you want a luxury resort with a restaurant and lot of amenities, this is probably not the place for you. There is no restaurant here which I first thought would be a big deal. They offer breakfast each day in a very nice space with really everything you need, eggs cooked to order, large plate of fruit, toast, jam, and coffee. Having two young kids, we normally need the place to have a restaurant to make it easy so we aren't having to fend for food twice a day. I visited the property before booking it online to check everything out and see if it matched all of our objections. We found that having no restaurant was not a dealbreaker for the week as there is a nice restaurant about a five minute walk down the dirt road. The restaurant had lots of great choices with fairly good service and quick turnaround that met our needs for lunches each day. Dinner was handled each day with the local driver "Mr Cat" picking us up each day at 5:30 pm and taking us to an assortment of great restaurants in the area to sample some of the best that Mae Rim has to offer. This made the week's evening dining more fun and exciting than the normal dining at the same resort restaurant each night. And without the worry of driving yourself at night or knowing how to get there. Coming from Koh Samui, taxis here are way cheaper and the daily cab cost of having this service made way more sens
Tranquility, wonderful hosts, really relaxing atmosphere”
The resort features five secluded guesthouses, each offering privacy with Thai style and comfort. Ian and Pop are wonderful hosts. Location is in the center of Mae Sai Valley in Thai countryside but quite far away from Chiang Mai and the dining options are also limited. Arranging the transportation is crucial. The hosts could assist in this matter. We really enjoyed staying there.
Very relaxing; best if you have transportation”
We arrived on motorbike and were greeted by Ian who got us settled in and explained everything. The property is lovely and peaceful, in the heart of the jungle. The swimming pool is very nice, surrounded by coconut trees. Breakfast was perfect: juice, coffee/tea, toast, eggs and fruit. Ian is a pleasant host and interesting fellow to chat with. My partner and I spent the time motorbiking around the mountains, visiting temples, eating at interesting restaurants. We lucked out with the weather and didn't get much rain. Otherwise I imagine the roads getting in might be a bit muddy. We both agree that having your own transportation is essential here as you really are isolated (walking distance) from any restaurants and conveniences. Plus, you get to explore this verdant countryside and all the natural and cultural beauty it has to offer. Highly recommended!
great stay, great locale, and great hosts”
Our stay at Mae Nai Gardens during our honeymoon trip to Thailand was incredible! My wife and I could not have stayed at a better place in Chiang Mai as it suited our needs perfectly. It is important to note that the property is located about 30-45 minutes from the city center, but that is exactly what we were looking for. The grounds are beautiful and the surrounding area is easy to navigate on foot or bicycle. The only drawback to its secluded locale is that transportation such as taxis are difficult to flag down on your own as they do not frequent the area as it is not on a main thoroughfare. This is easily remedied as owners Ian and Pop are always helpful and informative. They truly made our stay special as they treated us as so much more than guests. We were humbled by their hospitality and generosity in time and accommodation. This is a romantic and quiet retreat from the onslaught of the city, and we hope to visit once more in the future.
It was fantastic. We missed on the amenities that there is no a/c. Putting that aside, it was one of the most perfect places we have stayed in Thailand. We had our own car, so being secluded was a treat. Great for nature lovers, which we are.
