"We spent 2 nights at the resort. The moment we stepped inside the property, we were like "wow". The landscape is brilliantly designed. The room is spacious. The best is the Japanese style toilet. Minibar except for alcohol were free. What I don't like about the room is that a mattress (which was super comfy) was on the wooden floor. It is quite hard to get up. As well as a small low table and chair (without legs) aren't very practical especially for elderly. What really need to be improved is food. During our stay we have tried egg Benedict, congee, french toast, shabu shabu, and tempura. We were not impressed. Overall, it s a great place to stay if you do not have problem with mobility. "

"Six beautifully appointed rooms (villas) in the midst of beautiful countryside. Very friendly staff, Khun Tai could not have been more helpful. He collected us from the airport, took us to a nearby restaurant (as the hotel only served breakfast), served a lovely breakfast and answered all of our questions. We did not have our own transport so were very grateful for his help. We borrowed 2 bicycles and enjoyed exploring the area for 2 days, cycling though paddy fields on quiet roads. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom huge, large fridge and TV, AC and ceiling fan. The small pool was salt water and perfect for floating in while looking at the hills at sunset and recovering from bike riding. If you want a very quiet, good valued stay in the countryside then I highly recommend. "

"At first, our impression started from Khun Ood, representative of Kangsadan Resort, gave good hospitality and took us up to the resort. Along the way, he gave useful idea for attractions in CNX especially in Mae Rim. Between our stay, all staffs are full of passion to serve us the most convenience. Now, we talk about their location. Imagine when you wake up, open a room door and then you can see waterfall on your right and sea of fog on your left. (Luckily ours, on the night before there was heavy rain while we slept. That was source of fog.) We felt like paradise on earth."

"Went on a weekend trip with my girlfriend and stayed at the resort. It's perfectly located in the nature and close to Mae Rim Plaza (if you need to buy stuff).. The people running the place are so nice and accommodating. Room was great, pool was nice, good breakfast. Will definitely visit again."

"We were on our honeymoon and the Four Seasons upgraded to us to a rice view villa, first floor room 1404 which was super nice of them. They also gave Harriette a beautiful bouquet of lotus blossoms. The room had a lovely outdoor sitting area nestled in the rice fields which, at night, were light up with torch lights. The food was good and the wine a bit on the expensive side. You could order a dinner entre for what a glass of decent wine cost. We drank vodka mojitos which were delicious but the standard glass was a bit small so we would get them served in the tall glass with extra soda. As mentioned the pools were small. Best thing we did while there was the "Elephant keeper for a day" where we each had our own elephant and were taught how to care for it, feed it, bathe it, check its health, clean it, and ride it on the neck and head. We rode them through the forest to a waterfall where the elephants played in the pool at the base of the waterfall and it was magical. Also went to a great restaurant in town call Ginger which was the best Thai food we had on the entire trip. We checked out the Night Market as well but there was nothing decent to buy except some linen pants which were dirt cheep. As far as the hotel is concerned it is beautiful and well maintained with top notch service. There is a beautiful pond with old Thai style houses where you can do yoga or just chill out. There is also a out house that is two stories high and truly a throne. As the hotel web site says: Spacious Lanna-style pavilions overlook terraced rice fields and the mountains in the beautiful Mae Rim Valley, minutes from the artistic and cultural heritage of Thailand's northern capital. From the Thai cooking school to the acclaimed spa and flawless service, a signature Four Seasons experience. "

"I stayed in the Jacuzzi tub with mountain views and it was clean and nice. Although Thailand hasn't figured out the memory foam mattress toppers yet, the staff attempted to provide a mattres covering to help with the hardness if traditional beds in Thailand. The price was a bit expensive considering there is a gorgeous resort up the road for the same price, but I travel with a small dog, so options are limited. The hotel has a beautiful garden with a babbling brook running thru it. Mae Rim/ Mae Sa also has the Amazing Queen's botanical gardens with great trails and more to see....A beautiful taste of nature. There were cute decorative touches throughout the hotel. The staff were welcoming with a convenient pet policy. (Please keep Thai hotel owners happy with foreigners traveling with their pets as over the years, many hotels stop accepting pets.) The food was really good northern style thai food with a huge breakfast. Overall, this was really nice."

In and around Mae Rim

More about Mae Rim

Northeast of Chiang Mai city center along Highway 107, Mae Rim is an increasingly popular resort destination with ample facilities and immediate access to mountain retreats near Chiang Mai. In many ways, Mae Rim is Chiang Mai’s one-stop jungle depot, with exotic animal farms, botanic gardens, rafting tours and hiking expeditions all on the agenda.

Most resorts in Mae Rim are accessible from the highway, but set back far enough on lightly wooded grounds that guests aren’t aware of the traffic. As these establishments are around 30 minutes outside of Chiang Mai city center, they offer comprehensive facilities including swimming pools, restaurants and lounges.

Just before reaching Mae Rim from Chiang Mai, drivers pass a turn-off for Mae-Sa. As gateway to the mountainous backcountry that has made Mae Rim famous, Mae Sa operates butterfly and orchid farms along with snake, elephant, monkey and tiger centers and a host of adventure sport arenas. The Mae-Sa Golf Course is also here, which attracts an even mix of locals and tourists.

Tourists who really want to explore this backcountry can hire a medium-sized motorbike or a car and explore on their own. Past Mae Rim, the road narrows and winds through beautiful mountain scenes. The rustic accommodation near Mae Rim is set in one of Chiang Mai’s most attractive settings, and staying here is often a highlight for tourists who hadn’t expected to find such quaint surroundings so close to Chiang Mai city center.
