Productive and pleasant”

Food, staff, and view.

Easy to check in, comfortable dining and sleeping, nice balcony with mountain views, delicious food at dinner and breakfast, attentive staff. Easy for our business partner to find us there because it is on the main Mae Salong road. Plentiful parking.

Chinese Hotel”

Big room, big balcony

Mae Salong has a substancial chinese heritage community. The Hotel also is a chinese type of building. There are several 2 floor buildings. Our room was in 2nd floor and from the balcony one had a great view over the valee and to the mountains. The furniture was a little old fashioned, but everthing was clean and spacious. There were 2 single beds which we could easily move together. Lonely planet wrote very good about the restaurant. We had dinner there, but the duck dish was not available. The food, chinese yunnan style was good, but not that special. For evening entertainment there is nothing much around, however the TV has uncountable chinese channels...

Comfortable and friendly”

Friendliness, cleanliness & location

It was a very quiet time at Mae Salong - not many visitors there. There were only 2 rooms occupied at the resort on our first night and no others on the second, so never really saw what they could do. However it was friendly and comfortable.

One of the best hotel in Mae Salong”

On the slope of mountain overlooking valley

Good for traveller with self driven car as public transport is not available. In fact same day visit to Mae Salong is good enough as no night activity in this tourist spot.

Large room with lovely view, slightly shabby”

View, large room, near the countryside

The room was large and the big balcony offered a beautiful view. It's just outside of town which worked for me since I wanted to wander around the fields taking photos, and I could walk right across the street and plunge right in. The restaurant was good and they cook you eggs for breakfast. The room is a touch shabby but not too bad. Staff was largely absent. When I was leaving I asked directions to get a lift back toward Chiang Rai. They told me to go to the 7-11 and even gave me a motorbike ride, which was great. Problem was, they were wrong--there was no transportation there. I ended up getting a lift to Chiang Rai from a truck driver! So the staff weren't very well informed.

Very special location”

View

This hotel is a very special. It is in beautiful mountains of North Thailand. It is away from all of the city problems. It is a combination of a Hill Tribe and Chinese community. The room were nice with big balconies and spectacular views. Because it is on the side of the mountain you have go up some steep steps to get to the type of rooms that we had but there are some lower level rooms. This may not suit some people who have mobility problems. The restaurant is very good with Chinese oriented meals and very large portions. The food was also extremely delicious.

Beautiful view, amazing hospitality”

The room was reasonably well appointed. The beds were comfortable, the room had a fridge and kettle, air con and a TV. They are not spectacular, but had everything I would expect. The view out the front is amazing, looking down over the valley. Different rooms have vastly different access to the view, so if it's not too busy, it's worth checking out the different rooms to find exactly what you want. The food was very good, especially the roast pork. Breakfast is flexible, they have a western style breakfast or chinese style, and overall it's all the green tea you can drink. What set this place apart was how friendly all of the staff were, it really felt like we were staying with family.

comfortable nightstay in a very nice mountain area”

good room - very nice Chinese cooking - accessibility for persons of my age

compared with others hotels in this place this hotel is from easier access (important for elderly or disable persons). Very good comfort and very fine Chinese cooking (large choice of not too fat dishes) however the breakfast is a bit disappointing after such a nice dinner (continental or Thai breakfast). situated in the village it offers however a fine view on the surrounding mountains.

food, good view

Breakfast provided was not suitable for the price. There were only 2 choices; a bowl of congee with 4 pairs of pa-tong-go or a set set of abf (2 fried eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 1 cup of coffee). We can have these kind of breakfast outside the hotel with the price of lower than 1,200thb.

Good view with satellite television”

breakfast, good view, satellite television

I had a very quiet and relaxing stay at this resort/villa. The breakfast is fairly delicious (jok, fried dough, egg), the view of the valley is superb, and the television featured about 75 channels, about 50 Chinese and the others Thai. The bathroom didn't appear to be cleaned, except for a thick layer of soap on the floor, but there were clean towels and the trash was emptied. The refrigerator worked well, and was stocked with reasonably priced refreshments. It was cold in the winter. It's situated 800m east of what seems like the center of town. It seems a bit overpriced.

"comfy but old hotel with good food&service"”

beautiful views from the front balcony

My first approach to the hotel was not so impressed. We entranced on the first floor which is on the street level. There were no one around at the front desk to greet us and no sign to show where we have to check in, the entrance area looked untidy and dirty. We found the way up to the second floor where the restaurant is located, finally, we checked in here. We booked three bungalows with fan without knowing where there are located. Luckily, it’s a rainy season, not too many tourists, we had the rooms with private balcony overlooking the Santikiri Village. The scenery is fantastic! Our rooms are small, clean with aircond but no need to use it. There is electric kettle for making a hot drink (bring your own tea bags etc.). The shower is OK with warm water. The four basic amenities are provided, soap, shampoo, condition and shower caps. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were not disappointed, delicious food and good service.

Basic place. Good view.”

This was probably the bomb when it opened but it's a bit dated and worn in these days. Still, for a remote hilltribe village it's decent. Great view across the valley. Staff seem a bit discombobulated at times, but overall a pleasant stay.
