This is a place that everyone should visit. It’s location on the Geting River on the leeward side of the barrier island from the South China Sea is fantastic. You are right at the northern end of the Glorious Jungle line of the Malaysian peninsula. There are few westerners here but the Malaysians know this beautiful location. This is real Malaysia less than a mile south of the Thai border. It’s not a tourist spot but that’s part of the charm. So are the owners and staff. What kind and helpful people. Jamil, the owner takes your experience here as his personal responsibility. He’s a geologist, so his knowledge of the area is bedrock solid. The rooms are new and sit directly on the river. The local fishermen go by in their traditional vessels in the morning and evening. A giant monitor lizard I nick-named the Lizard King, swam right by my deck as I video ed its approach. The sunsets cannot be beat and the comfort and cleanliness of the room is unmatched in my Asian experience. I don’t stay at the fancy hotels but this place cannot be beat at any price. Don’t miss this place!!.

The service is very professional, very decent room, clean and friendly owner :-) Location wise, very close to Thailand-Malaysia which make it easy for you to cross over. Very quiet during the day and night, if you are looking for a place with a peace of mind, Maena is the best chalet to go for!

The location is very strategic where the chalet just 5 min to Pengkalan Kubor and just next to the river which u can go to Takbai (Thailand) with a boat & pay rm3 for the boat ride. Thumbs up for the view & facility. Good place to organize family day too. I will definitely come back to this chalet.
