Nice but a little worn”
The GM and staff here are excellent. The breakfast is good, compared to other places we've stayed... but it's still a quick motel breakfast. Our room was comfortable and clean. I did see some worn places in the finishes. This could be a very nice place if it was buffed up. Good for the money.

This hotel is definitely 1-2 stars. The employees are great! Very nice people. The hotel is awful. They demand a $100 deposit for damage. The couch was stained. The chair was stained. The arms on the chair had been carved up with knives. The temperature unit was broken and held together with duct tape. The shower had cigarette burns! The laptop holder was broken. A piece was broken off the dresser. The towels are small and are so rough they tore our skin open. The employees are not responsible for this mess. The corporation needs to totally renovate.

Only problem is if you make a booking for someone else and they are only one staying, you MUST have your name on the room too. ONLY a person staying can pay. If you are paying for someone else or indicate on this site you are paying for SOMEONE else, the location will not allow that individual to check in until you put your name on the room, even if you don't stay. Which would violate the fire code cause now they have an incorrect number and names of individuals incase of emergency.

I will not stay there again. Although the room was ok for sleeping, there was old candy on the floor behind the night stand, the elevator seemed like it might fall apart and one of the employees left their cigarette butt on the counter near the breakfast food.

The hotel is ok but my room was notably dusty and I only had a thin blanket on my bed. Furniture is outdated. Hvac unit looked like it had seen better days as well. Just did not feel clean or fresh but rather like an old hotel trapped in the 90s.

Had to be moved from one room to the next, ended up in smokers room. The stench was just unreal. Window was inoperable, so figure there’s been no fresh air in the room since the day it was built. It was unbearable. Filled waste bin in bath, flat pillows, … just revolting. They should not even be in business.

The bathroom had urine on the toilet it wet. The garbage in the bedroom wasn't emptied. but the bed was made, with wrinkled pillow cases on it. I felt like the bed wasn't changed just made up. because everything else was dirty even the sink.I reported it to the manager. and the toilet stopped up after one use.

This was the most horrible experience I have ever had with a hotel. I came down to Kankakee, IL to bury my uncle and staying here at Magnuson made the grieving process even more stressful. With covid-19 present I would’ve expected our stay to be clean, safe, and pleasant, however it was everything but. Our room was filthy we checked in, go to the room to disinfect with Clorox wipes. There’s pee and dirt all over the toilet. The carpet is filthy, the light doesn’t work, and the tv went out. The bed spread had stains all over it. We complained to the hotel staff only for them to have an attitude and to switch us to an even dirtier room. We were switched back to our original room after they “cleaned” it just to find out more things wrong. The toilet and sink were clogged and so we couldn’t use the restroom because it would not flush. My mom and I made the manager aware of the problem and she tells us she would have someone fix it. It took them two days to come and look at our toilet.

Was there 8 days. I got 2towells, 2 wash clothes A partial box of Kleenex and 1 and a partial roll of toilet paper. Pubic hair in the tub I had to wash down before I used it. I left cash and a thank you on the bed everyday. Never spent a dime. No one ever showed

The staff-very friendly. Maintenance department is awful! We had problems with our toilet not flushing, reported and said it would be fixed. We were gone the entire day and came back and nothing was done. Also, the back entry door that is suppose to be locked (for our safety) was never locked the entire stay. We were there from Thursday to Monday. And looked like it has been that way for some time. Very disappointed in the Magnuson and then to be charged the full rate. Will never stay there again and we will be in Illinois several times a year. Lost our business.
