Great hotel in a beautiful location”
we really enjoyed our stay in the mai spa resort. the staff was really friendly and very helpful. the rooms were clean and spacious(ok they could do with really dividing the bathroom with the rest of the room) but apart from that no complains. we have a seaview room , which had just an amazing view over the gulf and beach. the breakfast bar situated on the beach is just fab and our 9 year old daughter had a fabulous time during our stay. we would recommend this hotel when you stay on phu quoc. duong dong is only 10/15 walk away and has a great night market where you can eat delicious seafood at a very reasonable price. nice gesture of the hotel is the free massage that each guest gets. if we do return to phu quoc we would certainly go for the mai spa again.

Lovely, friendly staff, great atmosphere!”
the staff at this hotel were so lovely and upgraded us to a beach bungalow as it was low season for the same price as a garden bungalow... we were greeted with a nice refresher towel and cool ice tea on check in which was also a lovely touch after traveling all day to get to phu quoc island. our beach bungalow was so lovely, waking up to the sound of the ocean everyday was beautiful. long beach was a lovely beach, however quite rough to swim in.. so if travelling with young children it might be a little unsafe. i'm an adult and i keep getting knocked over and losing my bikini!! (hahaha) our bungalow had a mosquito net over the bed, beautiful big rock wall bathroom, and a balcony which was perfect for having a wine and watching the sunset each day.. the breakfast included was fantastic! we were allowed to keep choosing what ever we wanted until we were full.. so it is buffet, but made to order! other meals for lunch and dinner were a little expensive for vietnam i thought. the drinks were a little expensive too! once again i want to mention the staff were soo lovely they went above and beyond to help us. the nicest peple we had come across in vietnam! they even offered us a free massage to compensate for not having a tv..(there was a tv in the room but it didn't work the whole time- staff said it was due to a storm they had prior to our arrival). we didn't ask for an upgrade or a free massage, they just gave us all these extras right from check in.. so i guess it is best to stay in low season if you can. one annoying thing is -there is no free wifi in the room as it is advertised on agoda... you have to go to restaurant area to get connection. another thing- there is no safety box in room but you can leave with reception staff. one extra tip- get insect repellant! soo many mosquitos! the hotel is only a 10-15 minute walk from the night market where you can get fresh (but a little bit expensive) seafood! mai spa is within walking distance to many restaurants and bars

Basic rooms but absolutely gorgeous location”
As I had read in some of the reviews before booking this resort, the rooms were indeed somewhat basic, especially the bathroom. However, for us this only added to the charm of the place; whereas most other beach resorts in Vietnam are built up tourist attractions with the seafront covered in skyscraper hotels, Phu Quoc is much more of an undiscovered paradise and this was reflected in the resort's basic style. The rooms were located in a quiet garden full of tropical flowers and with a pathway with private access onto long beach, where the hotel had a restaurant/bar on the beach and ample loungers for customers to use. As the resort is also a spa, they offered customers a complimentary food and head massage, which was lovely, and we also went on to get further treatments which were also great. The staff were also very helpful in letting us know what there was to do on the island, and arranged a motorbike hire for us. If you want to stay in the luxury of a five star hotel room then this place is not for you, but otherwise, I would thoroughly recommend it.

great resort on pq”
we stayed at mai spa resort (not to confused with mai resort) for 2n/3d in phu quoc island and had a great time, very friendly and helpful staff. we tried their seaside bbq on the last night and that was fantastic - really fresh seafood, decent prices, and great seaside ambiance. the mai spa accommodations were more than adequate and we were upgraded to a seaside view - but the real draw is the spa treatments and location on long beach.

Lovely bungalows and great service”
our stay at mai spa was lovely. we had read many reviews and were not sure what to expect. we had traveled around vietnam and cambodia for two week prior to arriving to phu quoc. privacy? can you expect that in se asia without paying through the nose? we don't think so. this place was great! hung and hoa were wonderful hosts and always met us with a smile. we were very happy with our garden retreat. we slept well and looked forward to every breakfast and every adventure. the staff is sooooo helpful to get you around the island, converse in language, learn, share, and genuinely make for a great stay. we did not partake in the spa services but they looked and read as if they were amazing. dining on the beach for breakfast, lunch and dinner are great and affordable. we would recommend mai spa as a place for the mid range traveler and adventure seeker. we rented a motobike 3 days and immensely enjoyed every angle of the island. we hope phu quoc remains the spot it is today: so charming, warm and innocent. we loved it!

like paradise”
"mai spa" is a beautiful resort with a perfect mix of laid back beach bungalows and a perfect location. the nightly sunsets and the seafood-bbq are awesome. we would stay there again, as it is still kind of a "normal" resort compared to all the fancy hotels around. the only "turnoff" is the price, wich is for vietnamese relations quite steep, but then again compared to the competition kind of equal. phu quoc is abeautiful island, that´s on the brink of being "destroyed" like most of the ilsands in thailand. so go there, rather sonner than later ...

Quaint, simple, rustic”
As everyone has said, very natural, rustic rooms. They have more character and charm than larger hotels. I was traveling alone but if my girlfriend had joined we would have found it romantic. My bathroom/shower was outdoors with a 3/4 wall for privacy. The room had A/C and a mosquito netting - the latter was not needed though I used it the first night. The cleaners did an impeccable job. The garden space is simple and somewhat under construction. The staff were extremely attentive. English was not great but this was never an issue. On the main road outside there are a number of options for renting scooters or booking trips. You could order as much as you like for breakfast, nothing too exciting but satisfying. I did not eat other meals at the restaurant - there are a number of highly rated restaurants only minutes walking distance from the hotel. You can either go to the road or walk along the beach. The beaches can be nice, though small and the developments are crowed together. While I was there the waters were murky but this is no fault of the hotel. It was certainly better than expected. The key for all places in phu quoc is to adjust your expectations - phu quoc is not thailand. Much of phu quoc is raw and western amenities are not as developed as other parts of asia but that is part of the charm.

Beach Paradise”
It was a very pleasant stay. We booked 3 Garden Views Room, and 1 Beach Front, and the hotel upgrade us to 3 Beach Front & 1 Sea View FOC. The beach is just 1 step out of the door & the children love it. The beach is super during this time, water is cristal clear & children swim & play sand all day long. The hotel staff is friendly & attentive. Food is great & not so expensive compare to outside food so we end up eating inside the resort most of the meal. I would come back to Phu Quoc & definitely stay in May Spa again.

on the beach, nice location, nice breakfast”
Our stay was very good. The hotel is only one km from center of Duong Dong. It is directly on the beach, where they are deckchairs with parasols and cushions. The breakfast served on the beach was delicious. The room (garden view bungalow) was good, with mosquito net, air conditioned, and confortable double bed. We did not eat at the hotel because it was a bit expansive and we preferred going downtown where they are plenty of restaurants, and the night market. You can find everything close to the hotel (motorbike rent, laundry, restaurants, shops, ...). It is not cheap but all the hotels seem expensive at Phu Quoc... We really enjoyed our 3-nights stay.

Great hotel, perfect location”
My partner and I recently had 12 nights in a Garden View room and, on the whole, had a great stay. The hotel has a good location on Long Beach and is in walking distance of the Night Market in Duong Dong as well as many other restaurants, bars and hotels. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and have a fridge and air-con. Towels are replaced daily and you can also get fresh beach towels each day from reception. There are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms but reception will keep valuables for you. The one downside is that the walls are fairly thin and we did hear the guests in the next room quite a bit although they weren't very considerate and it did improve when they left and a new guest moved in. There is no mirror in the bedroom, just the bathroom, where there are no powerpoints but I asked for a mirror and they supplied a large one the following day. Breakfast in the restaurant on the beach is lovely and freshly prepared and the evening BBQ's are delicious too. The staff were friendly and helpful and we hired a moped and booked a boat trip through them too. Money exchange was avaiable but they weren't always prepared to exchange sterling and preferred US $ or Euros. We took advantage of the free foot massage and I had a manicure too and found the Spa to be very professional. Would definitely stay again.

Best holiday we ever had!”
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Mai Spa Resort and it exceeded our expectations to say the least. The rooms were cleaned every day and were equipped with power, mosquito nets, hot showers, fridges, wifi and air con. We had the beach front option so our balcony view consisted of a layer of palm trees, beach and sea. It takes just 20 steps to the sand and then a further 10 steps to the beach restaurant that served breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Every night there was a selection of fresh fish on display that was put onto a bbq on demand. My wife had a massage every day from either the hotel spa or the local women on the beach. The staff are very friendly and tend to your every need if they can, their English wasn't bad either. In the surrounding area there are many restaurants and bars within walking distance and a night market filled with local catches of the day. Frankly this was the best holiday we ever had and a large part of that was thanks to the Mai Spa Resort.

Rustic bungalows in an idyllic location”
Mai Spa's location is hard to beat. The rooms look directly out onto a beautiful beach only steps away. It's located on a particularly lovely, uncrowded stretch of sand, with beach chairs and umbrellas provided. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the main building (the lobby area) is very attractively decorated. The breakfast also deserves special mention because it is fantastic -- coffee or tea, fruit smoothies, eggs and bacon, and crepes all cooked to order. And fast. However, Mai Spa is not a luxury resort, so those expecting to be pampered should probably look elsewhere. The rooms are rather rustic, with limited furniture, sheets only on the bed (no blankets),and no locked safes or TVs. Also, the hot water for the showers is "heated by the sun," which in our experience translated to "unavailable at night." (During the day, on the other hand, the water was plenty hot.) In some ways the rooms feel almost like yurts or jungle bungalows on the beach -- it's a great place to completely relax and commune with nature as long as you are expecting it. A few things to note: the pictures provided on Agoda that show the dark wooden walls are only accurate for the large villa. The newer villas have comparatively plain white walls, are smaller, and have different decor. All have the stone bathrooms pictured, however. In addition, the free wifi indicated on Agoda only means the ability to use the internet on two computers provided for free in the hotel lobby -- not link up your personal laptop to wifi. And lastly, the spa services, while good value for the money, are rather rustic if you are accustomed to luxury spa options. Final verdict - it is a particularly picturesque, but rustic, beach-side villa.

Very pleasant, nice resort hotel, helpful staff”
Mai Spa Resort is a nice and quiet place to stay at on Phu Quoc. The beach in front of the hotel is very clean and has a great view during sunset. The Garden View Room was clean and quite spacious, with a TV. Hot shower in the bathroom works very well, so it wasn't a problem showering during night time. The staff at Mai Spa was very helpful and nice, and they even offered us a complementary 30 min foot massage for free, which was great! We stayed there for 5 nights and it was more than pleasant. However, and this has nothing to do with Mai Spa, there were many jellyfish in the ocean during the time we were there, which made swimming almost impossible…

Location on the beach, lovely staff, fabulous sunsets, wonderful pool. No WiFi in room”
Great location right on the beach, comfy sunbeds and umbrellas, buffet breakfast, excellent that all staff always with a friendly smile and an hello, relaxing,. Best and wonderful sunsets we had had after a few months travelling! Had a beachfront bungalow with view of sea and sunset over the roofs of bar/restaurant. Very very nice pool ! Beach clean at Resort. We had a really nice reflexology massage in the spa for free. Couple mins walk up road for other bars, restaurants shops and easy walkable to the Market. Didn’t like: the sea was not as blue as should be due to pipe nearby but Mai Spa made up for that by having lovely pool that we used, and not their fault. Lots people did swim. WiFi did not work in or around our bungalow 18, and told Reception. Got good signal on the beach in front on Room 15, but should have been in our room? Overall a really lovely stay for a week and would definitely recommend If staying inPhu Quoc to choose Mai Spa.

Fantastic location!”
It was a wonderful stay! I am a 23 year old traveler visiting Phu Quoc with two friends. Though it wasn't luxury living, it was a very comfortable, affordable stay. They provided a cot for our three-person arrangement (which was more like a second double-bed) and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The best part was that they had an ocean-side restaurant and bar area with a fun, young staff. The resort itself is tucked back a little ways off the main road, which is nice because it's not affected by the construction sounds. It's about a mile walk from the night market, which was made pleasant by the beautifully cool nights. I would definitely recommend Mai Spa!

Lovely Location, Rustic Resort Rooms”
i really enjoyed staying at mai spa resort, phu quoc island. the restaurant and bar is situated right on the beach, has great dinner food (seafood bbq every night) and stays open late for drinks. the rooms are a bit rustic, our toilet and shower were outdoors. and worst of all for my father-in-law, there is no tv! which was fine for us, because we wanted to unwind and get away from it all. all in all, a lovely time, at a comfortable place.

Perfect base for some relaxing beach time”
This is a great base to spend some relaxing time at the beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc. The resort's design is rustic with plenty of character and charm. The rooms are basic but air conditioned and clean with some nice touches including flowers and free fresh fruit. The standout feature of this resort however are the really amazingly friendly staff. The location is perfect, you are located right on the resort's own beach strip where breakfast is served every morning and you can sunbathe all day. You are also located near plenty of the restaurants on the Long Beach strip leading into the night market. The resorts spa treatments whilst a little pricey are really excellent and professional.

Great place to relax...fully enjoyed it”
We were very pleased with our stay at the Mai Spa Resort. It was a beautiful setting and a very relaxing atmosphere. The massages were amazing and very affordable and the staff always had a smile on their faces. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to relax and get in touch with the surroundings of Phu Quoc. A brilliant resort!

Nice, relaxing place with good location”
Mai Spa Resort was definitely my favorite place to stay in Vietnam. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff was helpful, sincere, and friendly but maintained good boundaries with guests (other places I stayed in Vietnam were way too overly friendly). The room was always neat and clean. My only complain would be a strange stench in the room; it smelled like mold caused by excess moisture. Other than that, my stay here was definitely a highlight of my time in Phu Quoc!

Quaint Bungalow and Fabulous Friendly Staff”
I absolutely loved my stay at Mai Spa. Upon arrival my friend and I were greeted with ice cold green tea and brought to our room. Our rooms were relatively spartan, but got the job done. Beds were comfortable enough and we had a gorgeous view of the beach. Small bottles of water were provided daily when the rooms were cleaned, and bigger bottles could be purchased for a dollar or less. Breakfast, which was complimentary, was delicious. Also used the spa services there and have never received such an attentive manicure and pedicure. Staff recommended good tours of island, and were very responsive to any needs/concerns. We were upgraded to a better room when another family left at no extra charge to us. There was also free internet access on two computers at the center of the resort.
