Airport Transfer?”
Mai Vy Guest House (Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, Vietnam) Overall, not bad. But there are only two major problems with this establishment. The first is lack of Air Port Transfer. Through Agoda, they listed Airport Transfer as one of their services which were non-existent. A friend helped me from the airport to the Guest House (as I only asked for airport transfer from the guesthouse to the airport). However, the host was resistant to arranging it. Eventually, she wrote the address of the airport on a sheet of paper to which I could show the taxi driver. At night time (after 9:30 PM) the place can be a bit noisy so if you prefer to go to bed early, this place may not be for you.

Decent, if you aren't a hermit.”
Mai Vy was easy to find and very central, right on the backpacker street. When I arrived, they asked to keep my passport for the duration of my stay. I offered them a different picture ID instead, seeing as it's never a good idea to give someone your passport. I'm glad I did this because when I was leaving, they almost couldn't find it - imagine if that had been my passport.. I booked the single room, and that was exactly what I got. Beware, mine had no windows. Luckily, I was only really planning on sleeping there. If you are not going to be out the whole time you are there, I would not recommend this room. I'm not sure if there are other rooms with windows. The staff were friendly while I was there, I made sure to say good morning and hello whenever I came and left. Some did not speak English, but if I had a question they would get the girl that did speak English to come, so it was fine. The one major issue I had while I was here was noise level. The place is really echo-y so you can hear every conversation from downstairs, children screaming and crying, and people coming and going. One large group arrived a few days after me and once loudly came in a 3 am and played music in the room beside me until 5 am. Facilities were fine, hot water aplenty and air con. Overall, it was only an OK stay, but since I only paid 15 dollars a night, I felt like it was exactly what I paid for.

Great Value for Clean, Safe Room in Great Location”
Our family rented 2 rooms, both were clean and spacious. Fridges worked: freeze a water bottle overnight to take along the next day (it was 32 degrees C/90 F during our visit). Rooms in the back are quieter, but nothing to see out the window. The front rooms have a window to the narrow walking corridor/street, but this allows some noise to be heard. Family-owned and operated, they helped carry suitcases up to our 3rd-floor rooms (no lift/elevator). Staff also helped guide us with maps of the city and suggestions for things to see. Laundry service was efficient at $1/Kg (in-house). Convenient location; 3-minute walk from the Mekong Express bus stop (we arrived from Phnom Penh). Would stay here again, although the mattresses are too firm for us.

I was satisfied !”
Right in the center of district 1. This is why I love it. The staff was very helpful. The price was affordable.

missing privacy”
very nice room and guest house. the staff doesn't speak much English but you should know how to be independent is this case. the only problem is open shaft in the bathroom which brings all the noises throughout the building. so you might have a felling that your neighbours are always showering. during night we couldn't block a light that came through a window

Nice people!”
We stayed two nights in this hotel. This guesthouse is managed by a family. They do everything, cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. They are very nice people always ready to help their clients. The breakfast for the price that we paid was excellent. The only problem was the matrass which gave me some muscle pains. Overall, very good experience. We definitely recommend this house. You will have for your money!

Great location”
Location is smack right at District 1 and is near a park and numerous places to eat at. Taking off our shoes is a bit annoying and the lack of elevator or even a helpful staff meant we had to carry our luggage up to the 5th floor by stairs. Speaking of the latter, I can understand it's their home too, but the staff or family or whoever was in charge did not make the place feel homey. They don't smile or offer help or do much of anything really besides ignore you. Good thing the place was clean and we just needed a place to sleep overnight.

Kind staff!”
Staff and owners looked out for us - called cabs for us to make sure we weren't ripped off. Gave recommendations and tips. Even gave us wake-up calls to make sure we are at the airport on time. Basic room amenities were complete plus more - slippers (small, but the effort was appreciated), internet, clean bathroom. The alley we had to walk thru to get there was not the cleanest, but the great service and room certainly made up for it. I would definitely recommend if you are just looking for a clean guest house with the basics.

stayed in "Standard Single" (#502). There is no lift, so need to climb tough stairs, but worth doing it for budget travellers.. The room is clean and tidy, although no spare space at all. The Wi-fi wa”
Hoping to have a filter item "Room types", because in HCMC, most of the hotels has both domitories and private rooms. Even domitories are not interested, but still it is not possible to exclude ones from the list, and need to guess ones from the prices or stars. If there were "Room type" shown on the hotel list as the 2nd best solution.

Great Place to stay. Nice staff”
The rooms here are very clean and the family is very nice and are willing to help you with whatever you need. Arranged an early morning drop off to the airport for us which was a huge help. Overall would rec. this hotel to all types of travelers.

Very good, very cheap”
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very attentive; I believe it's a family operation. They washed my clothes for 1 USD / kilo with 24 hours and did a nice job. There were no insects or other vermin in the room, and the sheets were clean. Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning up. I would definitely stay here again. Only criticism: no breakfast.

Hotel was great, very good value, great location, ”
Great stay overnight only. Great value. Limited English, but not a problem, always someone around if needed. Good location, and good budget restuarants around, more authentic area than some closeby but higher priced tourist areas, less touristy here, and bit more vietnamese.

Very good”
Staff wasn't as attentive as we hoped. The steps are steep and there is no elevator. House is in an alley, a little difficult to find but there are good places to eat nearby.

Great first night in Vietnam”
Staff helped with finding way and other practicalities on my first day in Vietnam. It's well located in the backpacker area while still in a fairly quiet alley. It was very clean though very basic - towels had logos of other hotels, some sheets had holes, three beds stand in one room.

Super friendly and clean”
Leave your shoes outside, this is in someone's home. Only thing I'd complain about would be the lack of storage beside the wardrobe, some shelves or a bookcase where to put your stuff would have been great. Bed firm and comfy, everything clean, hot water in the shower.
