Fabulous ”
What a fabulous place. I don't have words to describe the peace I felt there. The bungalow was great. The gardens stunning but the staff take all the awards for best hospitality. I loved the location as well. It was brilliant walking through the floating village with happy smiley people. A total highlight of my stay in Thailand.

We found this gem incidentally. Embedding with fisherman village, you can absorb the genuine atmosphere. With cleanliness, and friendly staff will satisfy you for sure.

Idyllic Setting and Restful Stay”
Chin Manasmontri's Mairood Resort is in an absolutely idyllic setting on the east side of The Gulf of Thailand, near the Cambodian border. The resort is away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Mairood Re consists of several buildings, part in a mangrove forest and the rest inside a shady and well-manicured 'campus'. Chin is an animal lover, so several dogs, cats and birds inhabit the grounds. He's also a professional chef, so can create delicious Thai dishes for his guests. The staff are very friendly and eager to please. They exceeded my expectations. The pastoral tranquility and natural beauty of Mairood Resort would be an ideal setting for anyone looking for a quiet setting to think, write, compose or just get away from the stresses of daily living. I enjoy big cities, but sometimes really relish the opportunity to get away from it all for awhile. Chin and his staff, in their unobtrusive way, made me feel like their honored guest. I really look forward to returning.

I found my paradise”
Coming here is like arriving in paradise! This wonderful garden, the nice pool and the only noise is birds singing. We really loved our stay here. All the staff is caring about you and Chin is a very good cook. Our room was spacious and the aircon did cool very well but did not blow directly on the bed. The bathroom was very big and had a nice big shower. Our bungalow had a small terrace with view of the pool and garden. And even from our bed we had a view of the garden. We could borrow bicycles to explore the surrounding. The village itself is worth the travel! It's a fishing village with open houses built on stilts. Here you get a feeling of how Thai life is. Mairood Resort is a very quiet place with lots of animals and not much to do. But it's a place where you can meet people who love to travel and who have many stories to tell. It's a place to take a rest and find yourself. I will return for sure!!! Chin thank you and your team for making this few days unforgettable!

Superb!”
Chin, the owner of Mairood Resort, has created something very special, and my fiancee and I shared the delight of experiencing it. For those who appreciate gardens, tranquility, peacefulness, great food and genuine Thai hospitality, look no further. This is a little Eden. Genuine warmth and graciousness in abundance. Mr. Chin and all his staff were the embodiment of hospitality and kindness. Enjoy this special place. I know I will again.

A Unique Experience”
This "resort" is unlike anywhere I have been before. When got dropped off in a torrential rainstorm at Mairood's parking area, Joe came out with a cart for our luggage, 4 umbrellas and led us through the fishing villages walkways to the resort. We had two bungalows and they were very comfortable, bedroom, living room, bathroom and front porch. The main attraction is the owner, Chin. We stayed for 3 nights and each night he and his staff prepared excellent Thai meals for us. Afterwards we would sit around our table with him and other guests and "chat". He is quite the character. The grounds at Mairood are like a well tended garden. Chin has many aviaries filled with a variety of exotic and rescued birds, along with numerous dogs and cats. The village is an experience and filled with friendly folks. There are two beaches, one walkable so you can get wet in the warmest water ever!

Beautiful, tranquil and relaxing”
We visited Mairood after seeing the wonderful reviews on trip advisor - all true. A perfect place to relax for a few days after the madness of Bangkok or before crossing into Cambodia. Mairood have created a little oasis just outside a traditional Thai fishing village. The food was excellent no menu you just chose from what is fresh that day. Staff very friendly. Chin the owner is a great host with plenty of time for all his guests. No nightlife, nothing to do but relax, perfect, highly recommended.

Rustic, beautiful resort in a fascinating location”
When we arrived at the Mairood resort we were met at the entrance to a small fishing village. Our suitcases were carried through on a cart (no cars can get in), the location is stunning and fascinating. On arriving at the resort you find a beautiful tropical garden with a lovely small swimming pool, with cute bungalows set around. The welcoming owner speaks perfect English and is an excellent cook. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

Great place, but NOT a beach resort”
For some reason, we were expecting a beach resort. This is NOT a beach resort. But it IS a lovely collection of 12 small cottages nestled in a tropical garden around a pool in a fishing village. The approach to the resort is unique. Khun Prasit (the extremely attentive, pleasant, and helpful manager) will meet you in the resort parking lot, which is about 300 meters from the hotel. He will load your bags into the cart, and push it along the walkways of the fishing village en route to your cottage. It is an incredibly picturesque and friendly village, full of stupendous photo ops, and great people. Just as you're wondering where in the world you might be staying, you will walk through a gate into a little tropical paradise. It is the most suprising transition imaginable. Khun Prasit is the perfect host. His English is very good, the rooms are immaculate (we had a small ant problem with our first room, and he immediately moved us to another cottage), each decorated in a different way. The food is fantastic... no menu, per se. Just ask for what you want (seafood highly recommended, of course), and you will be presented with a tailor-made meal that is very reasonable and absolutely delicious. While I would not recommend it as a destination, unless you're already in the Trat area, it is a delightful place to spend a night or two if you're en route to Cambodia, or do find yourself in Trat (en route to the Islands, most likely), and wish to explore a local fishing village.

Heaven in the garden, paradise beaches nearby”
Mai Rood Resort is a heaven for travelers – for people who want to experience and be pampered at the same time. To enter the resort you’ll walk on the bridges trough the lively fishing village - authentic and picturesque – to arrive to an other world: a lush garden with all kinds of trees and pets, with bungalows and houses spread around the pool and near the river/lagoon side. The rooms are very different – all decorated by Chin who has taken advantage of his experience with American interior decoration to give them quite an other style than the modern Thai. All rooms have some kind of a balcony - some with fantastic view, and throughout the garden you’ll find pavilions, big swings, small terraces etc. to relax and enjoy the view, in case your balcony doesn’t have it. Food is excellent – everything we got was very good, but I still dream about the yellow seafood curry and the breaded chicken in fresh green curry. You can rent a motorbike or lend a bicycle and drive to one of the nearby beaches. Sand and water is like paradise. It’s not touristic beaches with sunbed and umbrellas, but typically Thai beaches, with small huts. At the end of the official beaches you’ll find the white powder sand beaches – remember to bring your own beach blanket or towel. And beware of the sand flies at the end of the wet season (end October) - if you see one, change beach. Worth much more than a stop-over on the road between Cambodia and Bangkok.

A secret garden located in a smelly village”
Mairood Resort is akin to the preverbial "Secret Garden." It is situated within a small fishing village and the gates to the grounds are inacessable by car. That said, upon arrival you are greeted by a beautiful mature garden which is well laid out and has the benefit of numerous bird avairies scattered throughout the grounds. Service is fine but the food we ordered was a tad expensive, this you will not find out until the end of your stay as bills are settled upon checkout, not as each meal is consumed. We only ate here on the first evening as the food was not to our liking. We assumed that the taste was their regional variation but on eating at other establishments (at the beach) which were much tastier and cheaper and an all together better experience. Breakfast was included but the fruit was tired, although the omelets were fine and the American Breakfast included a home made hamburger which was delicious. Downside was the shower did not warm the water and when we reported the fact, they checked and agreed with us that it did not work. Not that they made any attempt to rectify the fault at all,but simply acknowleged the fact.Another hinderence to ourselves was that at mealtimes you are inundated with cats and dogs trying to get your attention for food. This is not to my liking within a food establishment setting.

lovely getaway”
I was looking for a place to stay on our way back from Cambodia to Rayong, and found this place, so glad we did. We extended our stay for a day.. You have to walk through a lovely fishing village to get to the resort, where you get a warm welcome from the owner. Our room was really great, the surrounding even better; a big garden with birds, rabbits,.. nice swimming pool and near the ocean. The food, made by the owner himself is fantastic, 5 stars ! When you get the chance visit this place, really worth the trip.

Terrific, relaxing experience”
Mr. Chen is an extraordinary host. His resort is surrounded by a Thai fishing village -- so you are IN Thailand but you can also retreat and relax. A swim in the ocean is a short drive away. The grounds are graced with a variety of roaming, friendly animals, including Ya-Ya, the pig. Chin is also a superb cook.

Beautiful paradise - a real taste of Thail culture”
we arrived here after 3 horrible days in koh pha-gnan and were absolutely delighted with the resort. it is so beautiful, small, personal, each bungalow is decorated like your own home and there is a wonderful feeling of familiarity everywhere.

Unusual”
the owner of Mairood is a very friendly fellow who speaks excellent English. I had a great time talking with him. The gardens surrounding the bungalows are tropical and lush, there is access to a small bay. The location can only be described as "unusual", in the middle of a remote fishing village which cannot be accessed by car, or by bigger motorcycle. The rooms are worn, and show neglect. Ugly, mismatched furniture doesn't has to be in this price range. In essence, if you want to stay in a place which you will not find easily somewhere else in the world, go, and forget about the lack of comfort in the bungalows. Overpriced.
