Nice Location in Chaing Mai. This hotel description of “ city view “ is misleading.”
I booked. A room with a city view only to find that a city view was an ugly view into people backyard. I asked the front desk lady about the mixup and she said I booked. Agarden view. I showed my booking to a young man at the front desk only to be told by him that the garden view was a city view. I think this is deceptive advertising. I felt this was bait and switch. The room was tiny and the bathroom was even tinier. I would recommend this hotel for backpackers and for those who are not claustrophobic. Beautiful building though with great art work. Clean and located in the heart of the old city
Beautiful, but I still prefer the Makka”
I love the Makka hotel, so I wanted to give a try to the Makkachiva, which looks even more gorgeous from outside. The rooms and the decor are very similar to the Makka, as well as the service and the breakfast. My toilet had a problem (stuck handle, so at the end I removed the lid and after every use I manually stopped the water from flushing continuously). Beside this, everything is just like the Makka; but I found it a bit darker and colder. So I would recommend it, but personally I believe I'll go back to the Makka next time.
Makkachiva is a wonderfully stylish, clean, and comfortable hotel, located right in the heart of the old city of Chiang Mai and only a stone’s throw away from the Sunday Walking Market and temples. The breakfast (served until noon!) was quite good and cooked to order with a number of choices. The staff there were lovely too. A quirk is that you have to remove your shoes on the ground floor and not wear shoes in the room, which keeps it clean too! Highly recommended!!
Wonderful Room ! ”
The hotel room is very unique , that was my first expensive of Makkachiva, Location is good, Breakfast is excellent , i had my breakfast every morning in the hotel instead of street food, which i like it so much, staff are very friendly and helpful, I definitely would stay in this wonderful hotel again ( next time when i visit CM) The greeny plants were eye catching, it was good to take selfie and pics in the courtyard , like it so much ♡ .
Brooklyn in Chiang Mai”
Makkachiva is exceptionally amazing!! Think yoga, meditation and zen fused into a hotel property with a minimalist chic twist. Outstanding staff that are professional and gracious. It is conveniently located on a main road without the noise factor and a short walking distance to the Old City night market. The ambiance and design are impeccable from the time you remove your shoes at the threshold near the courtyard water display. I especially loved the hanging plants and the open skylight. A scrumptious breakfast was included so the price point cannot be beat.
Very Clean & Peaceful Hotel”
Makkachiva hotel is highly recommended to stay in with a very clean, peaceful and full of nice pictures around like art gallery centre. The breakfast is good and serve with personal touch, staff are friendly and polite. In future, if my husband and I will travel in Chiang Mai, surely will be back to this hotel where surrounded with the nice restaurants nearby.
Charming Boutique Hotel in the Heart of the Old City Part of Changmai”
We stayed at the Makkachiva for 8 nights and our stay was wonderful. The hotel is ideally located in the old city part of Changmai. The hotel is charming and quiet. The staff is wonderful, in particular Gee at the front desk who is full of energy and always helpful.
Beautiful hotel, an oasis in the city. Like walking into an art gallery. They require guests to remove shoes in the lobby (they give you sandals to wear inside), so the hotel is spotlessly clean. Great breakfast - fruit, coffee / tea, juice, and a choice of a freshly cooked main dish. Friendly staff. Free mini bar (no alcohol).
Perfect hotel ”
To start with the hotel is located in a perfect location in the Old City. Only a short walk to anywhere you want to go. The hotel itself is impressive because it’s spotless in terms of cleanliness, has an old charm based on the design but also modern touch, and the lobby is open to the outside with no doors and a fountain in the middle foyer. It’s kept so clean probably because you are supposed to take your shoes off when going upstairs to the rooms. There’s art along all walls with rooms circling the inner open foyer. There are only three floors so it’s easy to take the stairs or an elevator if you must. The rooms were bigger than most modern hotels and the bathrooms had great water pressure and hot temperatures. The air conditioning worked too well and my room cooled down easily. Free breakfast is included which is ordered from a menu with American or asian style options. Since I should say something constructive, my king size bed only had two pillows and could have used more.
AMAZING hotel staffs”
Worry no more if you stay in this hotel. The staff really is care with your needs. Even starting from I went down from my taxi, the staff has already waiting near my taxi's door. If I have the chance to visit Chiang Mai again, absolutely will stay in Makkachiva again / maybe trying Makka Hotel (they have the same owner). Thank you!
Highly Recommended! ”
Beautiful decor & interior, very clean, kind staff with helpful recommendations! Free mini bar items& full breakfast every morning (a lot of options both western & Thai that come with tea, coffee, pastries & fruit). Good location in old town, oh and great water pressure & good AC which can be tough to find elsewhere!
Great location & friendly staff”
Hotel was very chic looking and the room was clean and spacious. Staff would help you to book spas and make recommendations. Breakfast was great, good menu and quality of food was wonderful. Would stay there again.
Amazing stay, amazing breakfast too. Will definitely return to stay.
Nicely designed hotel round a small inner courtyard. Service was everything you expect in Thailand friendly, helpful and smiling. Great location for exploring the old city.
Highly recommended ”
Very warm customer service throughout our 3D2N stay here. My husband was pleasantly surprised to receive a birthday cake during breakfast. Staff has great attention to details and not to mention the hotel is artistically decorated.
Good stay ”
Brand new hotel, very clean and quiet. In the center of old city, it's convenient to go anywhere. The room is same as the pics, very comfortable. All soft drinks are free and I like the breakfast a lot!! Delicious! Staffs are very nice! One thing is the water pipe in the shower got stuck room. They came to fix it in the last night I stayed, it's a bit better but not solved completely.
Beautiful, quiet, clean”
This hotel was a perfect stay for us. First of all it located in Old City and you can walk to everything from the hotel. I love that the hotel is on a quiet street. There is a temple across the street. We also loved that you have to take your shoes off prior to entering the hotel and are given sandals to wear on the property! You are also given a storage area (see photos) to place your shoes in so you don't have to carry them up and down from your room. We stayed in room 301 which faced the back of the hotel. Loved our room! We were worried that our room was right next to the elevator and even looked at another room because we were worried about the noise from the elevator. The only other room they had was one with 2 queen beds and we wanted a king so we took the room by the elevator and had absolutely no issues with it at all. Once in the room you never hear the elevator-it is super quiet and quick to get up and down. My wife is extremely noise sensitive and this hotel and the elevator were super quiet! Breakfast was amazing! We loved breakfast every morning. They serve you a lot of food, included in your main entree they also serve fruit and bread, everything was delicious! The staff was helpful during our stay with directions and anything else we needed. The beds were hard which we prefer so we had good night sleeps! They didn't offer face towels which we are use to in the US so we asked for extra hand towels to wash our face. They also didn't offer lotion so we had to buy some to use while we were there. They do provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush and toothpaste as well as shower caps and cutips. It is good to know that only the rooms are air conditioned. The hotel lobby and area where you eat breakfast isn't air conditioned. We were there when it was over 100 everyday and didn't find this to be a problem. But, being use to air conditioning this was a surprise to us when we arrived-we adjusted fine-I would still stay here again.
Lovely gen of a hotel!”
We loved this hotel set right in the center of Old City. This elegantly decorated boutique hotel boasts beautiful art work, spacious rooms, friendly staff and nice breakfast. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who designer this hotel based on Thai culture with each floor representing a different part of their culture. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and stay here again!!
Wonderful, beautiful hotel”
Absolutely gorgeous hotel, well placed to visit temples and old town. Clean, beautifully designed and staff made you feel like a star guest and was very helpful with recommendations and general assistance. Breakfast was very good, although I wish it was a buffet so I could try multiple options.
Two night stay with children”
Lovely staff and hotel. Perfect location for boutique shops, cafes/restaurants, Wat Chedi Luang & Sunday market -all on the doorstep. Free minibar with water & soft drinks. We booked 2 rooms and us adults felt the beds were too hard, aircon difficult to control & agree with previous comments that breakfasts were rice/egg/noodle heavy and not much for light breakfast eaters. However, would return for location.
