Manila Malate June/july 2018”
This Pensionne has a beautiful history behind and it was a pleasure to experience for the first time. I would return only thing I found not satisfactory was they did not have a fridge as I do buy some cold drinks and love the fruit packs they have at supermarkets. Otherwise its a safe and secure hotel/motel and most important they have a Coffee Bean Cafe right underneath the building. Nice food as well.

Horrific experience, room has cockroach and my car has been towed while parked infront of the hotel”
I first booked an economy room and upon entering the room it was old has a very strange smell and to my shock I saw a cockroach roaming around so I have no choice but to upgrade my booking to a premium room. Then Btw I always check if the hotel has parking amenities before I book so upon checking on agoda that they have parking I considered staying there, I parked infront of their hotel and the I’m very sure the guard saw me but he didn’t guide me during parking. The morning after, when I was to checkout, I was so suprised my car was missing only to find out that it was towed and I have to go near the police station and pay 3000 pesos just to retrieve it again. According to them, they were asked by the tow people if the owner was book in their hotel, and they answered NO because they have no idea it was from me. The guard on the night shift didn’t tell them it was mine, according to them it happened multiple times before in their hotel and seemed like they didn’t learn their lesson, since there are many instances already they MUST train their guards to ask every customer if they have a car upon entering so they will direct it to a nearest parking lot. The customer’s security must be the hotel’s top responsibility. It was the first time I payed triple than what I payed for my room overnight and I was so disappointed.

it has lost its glory. nice facade, poor maintenance.”
mattresses are centuries old. you sank soon as you sat or lie down. i had to change to four rooms till i found a decent mattress. i dont think they've changed the mattresses or remodeled the bathrooms/showers since they opened, though the lobby was given a facelift. leave the lights on at night in the shower or else you'll find roaches crawling all over it when you turn on the light. that said, the workers are nice and they do try to be of assistance, but they're not the owners. it's not a pensione but more like a hostel, a rundown one.

A stone's throw away from everything”
Malate Pensionne is walking distance from almost everything: a mall (Robinson's Place, Ermita), a Catholic church (Our Lady of Remedies), two water fountains (for those who love such), a 24/7 convenience store (Mini-Stop), several coffee shops (Figaro, CBTL and Cafe Adriatico to name a few), fastfood restos (Jollibee and McDo), bars, parks, and the like.

The shower in our room didn't work well and the ceiling could have painted. But in this old house with all the wooden stile you feel set back to the past.

The place was in a good location, easy to get to where we wanted. The room itself was ok but I didn't like having to go to a different floor to use the shared bathroom.

Past it”
Nice traditional pension that never kept up with the upkeep and maintenance and still wants to charge premium price and consider itself prime. Old clunky aircon, creaking barely hot water taps, staff didn't know I was arriving, scrambling to just find a random room, no towels in the room. Very very, very average overall. Many newer and similar priced places in the same area. Malate Pension just riding on the past and its name. Won't last long more like this.
