Regency Grand Suites
Malate,Malate - View on map
"My Filipina girlfriend and I decided to book 6days in the Regency Grand Suite and hoped it would be perfect for my last weeks stay in the Philippines. We were NOT dissappointed! We were greeted by the friendlest receptionist called Joseph who did everything for us from check us in to fixing the WIFI connection :) from there the stay in the hotel just got better. The location is perfect if you want to be central to Malate and it's right next to the mall. We stayed on the 32nd floor so obviously it was very quiet if you wanted to get away from the nightlife. The gym and the pool (very cold water ha) were great perfect to sit beside and relax. There are plenty of lovely Asian restaurants next to the hotel and the hotel is only short drive (100php) from Markati and the Fort. The room (a suite) was perfect it had plenty of power points (universal for 3pin plugs) a kitchen area with a microwave, kettle and fridge perfect for making snacks. The shower room was cozy and modern (don't forget to switch on the water heater) and after switching the water heater on the hot rain shower was wonderful. The view was magnificent from the 32nd floor balcony viewing out onto Manila bay and the cities beyond. The bed is huge but the space around the bed is limited but never the less its very cozy and perfect for me and my filipina girlfriend. The room also had a very modern flat screen TV with satelite channels such as HBO and PBO and other filipino channels. In short our stay in the Regency Grand Suites was wonderful and we shall most certainly be booking to stay here again on my next holiday. Special thanks to Joseph on reception who was amazing at getting us settled and was so attentive throughout our stay there. Many Thanks to all the team."

New Coast Hotel Manila
Malate,Malate - View on map
"It has the best service in Manila period. Added to its prime location being next to the mall and a great view to the manila Bay makes it the best Malate Hotel to be in. I have been to Manila for the last 3 years and would pride myself as a frequent flyer there. I have stayed in hotels ranging from makati high end (Peninsula) to resorts world (Maxims, Marriot and Remington), City of dreams and other major hotel chains. This would really makes me very qualified in giving a valuable and rational review. In short,i am impressed with how i was made at home in this 'new change of management' hotel (formerly hyatt). Special mentions would be duty managers Sheryl and Carlos who made my stay most comfortable so much that i extended my stay there twice last month. I will return very soon."

Eurotel Pedro Gil Hotel

"affordable hotel near robinson's mall malate. Hotel staff are accommodating. The first room we got had a problem with its electronic door. We were transferred to another room which had a non functioning shower bulb. But I would still come back to this hotel next year. The UBE airport bus is just across the road near the Robinson's mall so transport from and to the airport is not a problem."

JMM Grand Suites
Malate,Malate - View on map
"First time I stayed at this Condotel and it was well worth it. The reception is split between JMM Grand Suite, another condotel and residences that live there. Security here is very good considering everyone requires an access card to get through the turn style before getting on the elevator. Check in took about 20-minutes since there is only one computer available at the reception and I just came at the wrong time when everyone was trying to check out. Be aware their credit card machine had lots of issues with people trying to use it to pay for their room, bring CASH. The room and facilities are very nice. Pool and gym located on the same floor. However, the pool closes at 7pm. I was upgraded to a room that had a kitchenette and a high floor that was a pleasant surprise. Four elevators service the high rise so no need to wait long amounts of time for it. Best thing about this place is the location, just a two minute walk to Robinsons Mall in Ermite / Malate."

Manila Manor Hotel
Malate,Malate - View on map
"My second time here and this is an older but quaint hotel in the heart of Malate and is very well run by the competent staff and management. Security is high priority and guests can feel safe if you are concerned. The hotel is quite comfortable but ageing, so don't expect the Hyatt here. It is a good price/value for money. A few minutes stroll to the modern Robinsons Mall for any shopping you need and 5 mins to Manila Bay and the bay walk. Plenty of nightlife with bars and dancing clubs, this area is not rough and I have no problems nor fear of roaming around at night (I'm 57). Touts and beggars can be a problem but most just leave you alone after a few days, some just like a chat and are very friendly and will help you find your way around."

1775 Adriatico Suites
Malate,Malate - View on map
"12 nights in a deluxe room on first floor, lounge room with kitchen, fair size of kitchen bench, sink, electric cooker , toaster , hot water boiler and all the kitchen utensils , large fridge and lots of power points BUT no microwave.. Bed room is nice , plenty of storage cabinets, comfortable bed, wooden floor in all area, nice and clean little unit. NOW... The bath room.. Small bathroom , really small... Toilet, shower, basin all fit in a about 6 foot wide and 9 foot long area, No bathtub, water pressure is a bit low, took me a few days to get used to the shower, Aircon is only in the bed room "small unit"only enough to cool the bed room, electric fan for the lounge and kitchen area, ( forget about to have the air con to cool this area too ) , free wifi but the speed varies and drop out very often , TV in the bedroom , lots of channels but the reception not very good, oh! Careful with the mosquito , got bitten many times while I stayed there, lucky I didn't get sick ,So don't forget to bring mosquito repellent . LOVE the location, it's away from the main road, quiet place to sleep, specially after midnight in malate and very safe place, restaurants and bars are every where on the main road, it's about 5 minutes walk ( for me na ) to the Robinson shopping mall. Staff and the security guys are very helpful and friendly, free airport pick up when u stay 3 days or more, cleaning upon request by guest , free daily breakfast, bread , jam , butter ,eggs , coffee , simple but it's enough to start Ur day . Compare the price, room size and facilities provide by the hotels I had stayed in malate to Adriatico suites, I would definitely recommended and stay here again in the future. "

Palm Hotel Manila

"Second time stayed at Palm plaza, still my fav hotel in malate, location wise and the room size, ( mine is double superior room on 8th floor) , I would like to thank the receptionist letting me to late check out at 3pm without extra cost, ( selamat pó) :) like the bath room, shower area has a deep base, so no water splash every where while u having a shower, water pressure isn't great but it's ok , plentiful of power points in room to recharge Ur gadget, good city view, BUT!!! It gets really noisy between 12am to 3am, loud music from pubs and night clubs around the area, light sleeper should ask for room behind but no view though , Few things has improved since my last stay, 1st is unlimited free wifi internet in the lobby, ( used to be only free for 1 hour) hopefully in the future, we will get free in room wifi, free in room wifi is my 3rd most important thing I look for when I book my hotel!! 2nd is the all u can eat buffet breakfast (350 peso),it's not the best but some day they have really good food, you can check the food first. :) Agoda is still the cheapest online website to book hotel in Asia and their response for booking error is really fast, GREAT JOBS :) "

Executive Hotel
Malate,Malate - View on map
"The Executive Plaza Hotel in Malate, Manila, the Philippines is located in the center of the Malate night life and is an excellent value for the money. The rooms are very spacious, in good repair, exceptionally clean and well appointed with a nice desk and two easy chairs, and the rooms are quiet even though the hotel is on a busy street. The beds are comfortable and have four large pillows. There is lots and lots of counter space to put stuff and a large closet with ample deluxe hangers and large flat screen TV. The room lighting is well done and easy to operate. Some other really nice features are very fast elevators, unbelievably good water pressure with almost instant hot water, in bathroom mounted hair dryer, a 24 hour 7/11 mini store next to the hotel and there is a seeming endless supply of instantly available taxis at the hotel front door. The A/C is quiet and efficient, and you can keep get an extra room key and keep the A/C on when you are out of the room. The hotel restaurant serves a nice selection of well prepared food, and all the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The internet is free and worked about 90% of the time, but it is slow. The check-in procedure is very slow. My room was prepaid, but it still took almost a half an hour to check in. There is a very, very small refrigerator but it does not cool, at all. I pointed this out to the staff, but they didn’t seem to care and actually told me I was wrong though the contents were at room temperature. Some other negatives are the bathroom has no vent fan and the hotel room service closes at 10:00 PM. The power outlets are not well placed, so your devices have to sit on a chair next to an outlet to be charged. The positives at the Executive Plaza Hotel far outweigh the few negatives, and this hotel is definitely a good value. I will seek this hotel on future visits to Malate. It is one of the few, if not only, budget hotels in the area that offer king size beds. "

Amelie Hotel Manila
Malate,Malate - View on map
"This was my first time to book a hotel room in the heart of Malate. I looked for one that is affordable (since it's just a 1-night stay and all I really needed was a dress-up room for a wedding that I attended the following day) but had good reviews. Plus, one of my most basic requirements/ expectations is a CLEAN ROOM - with clean beddings and clean bathroom. And, Amelie Hotel Manila definitely delivered these. The only down-sides: The coarse (not fluffy) towels and the loud music from a nearby hotel that seeped through the windows. But, given that I stayed solo and didn't want "eerie" silence throughout the night, I consider it as a minor concern. =) "

More about Malate

Malate is located immediately south of Ermita, near the center of Manila. This is a highly commercialized area, hotels in Malate some of the most comprehensive in the Philippines. Visitors based in this area are within close reach of the historic sites of Intramuros, but they also enjoy a modern commercial scene with a great selection of restaurants and bars.

There are not as many outright sightseeing attractions here as in Ermita / Intramuros. The Manila Zoo is one of the biggest attractions in the neighborhood, and it appeals mostly to visiting Filipinos. Another major site is Malate Church on Remedios Street. It was originally built in the 16th century and houses Our Lady of Remedies, an image of the Virgin Mary that is said to help women through difficult pregnancies.

Accommodation in Malate includes some of the newest hotels in Manila, built in the last decade to cater for growing international interest. The finest five-star hotels are close to the northern boundary with Ermita and play host to one of the most upmarket nightlife districts in Manila.
