Peaceful and quiet hotel”
Is a huge bungalow house converted into a boutique hotel. You can still feel the 60s atmosphere in every corner of the property. The staff are all very helpful and provided valuable information. I like to specially thank the lady manager (sorry I did not ask for her name) who has given kind advices on where to buy medicine when I was not well. Many thanks.
Very nice old colonial style hotel, with large home feeling rooms. Some complains earlier of the muddy road. It is gone for this century. It is a concrete road now. They do not have restaurant, but near the river several good restaurants (some 400m walking) . Suntara was very good with fusion food and nice outdoor 3rd floor setup. Silent (I was there during the new year), clean, reasonably low cost/quality. Location is good, far enough to stay silent, but restaurants are within a walking distance.
Good location close to Exhibition”
the road right in front of hotel is wet mud, difficult with dragging languages. its located in alley, so hard to find it. but it is close to exhibition, in walking distance. staff nice, room good. beautiful garden and dinning place, but food is soso and without many choices.
Comfortable stay in beautiful property”
Staff were warm, friendly, knowledgeable and provided great service. The place will well decorated and full of charm - especially the outdoor covered verandas and common spaces. Rooms are well sized and have a unique, fusion, modernized style unlike any other hotel or guesthouse in Vientiane.
Beautiful boutique hotel”
I loved the hotel itself which makes us feel like we are invited to someone's nice old house. Location is a bit far from the center if you're more into lots of restaurants and cafe. Yet, location is not bad. Rather i liked the village around the hotel. Staffs are very nice
Our second time in Vientiane and the Mandala was perfect for us, a quiet oasis in the most laid back capital city in the world. The room was spacious, breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful
Comfortable 2 night stay. Hotel is about 2km from main part of town but easy bike ride. Bikes can be rented at $3 per day but make sure the tires have air. Staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast by the garden gorgeous. Overall a nice retreat not far from the town.
Comfortable hotel just out of the old city center”
We stayed in a suite room, connected to the main building. Room was comfortable, although the bathroom was a bit small. For me the buffet breakfast was great, but for Asian people it could be a bit of disappointment. The hotel has a great restaurant for lunch & diner. We loved the garden.
A heavenly quiet hotel located close to the center”
Located close to the center near the french embassy and to an hospital, the hotel is in the middle of a residential area with a temple at the beginning of the street. The staff is very friendly like the lao people, always smiling caring. I had a room outside of the main house with a large bed, large bathroom with a shower... I really recommend the hotel for solo and couples...
it is a lovely boutique hotel wit reasonable value of money. Room size is big as my friend and i stay at the suite room. the room bed is lovely. The hotel easy access the public transport and the spa area.overall satisfy.
Heart of city but peaceful, helpful staff”
Air conditioner in my room does not work so well. But all other things are very impressive. I felt like home staying there. Lobby, restaurant, library, garden are small but beautiful. Local yogurt at breakfast is very delicious.
Great Hotel, nice designed rooms, friendly staffs”
Efficient check in & check out, staffs trusted the hotel guest without even checking the rooms during check out. The staffs were helpful to get the laundry done, arrange for transport, translate to the driver, try to understand the spoken language (english) the best they could. Breakfast was simple but nice, adequate for the stomach. The other rooms such as suite, deluxe & superior are nicely designed and spaced out. I went for a hotel tour about before i left to check out other rooms. The drivers the hotel engaged are very polite as well.
Great stay, a bit off the city center”
The hotel itself is absolutely lovely, very clean and the manager was very helpful (spoke really good English). If you don't fancy being right in the city center, this is a great option (you'd have to walk 15minutes). The only thing I didn't quite like about the rooms was that the air-conditioning is placed right above the bed and it blows on you no matter which side of the bed you choose.
A Very Peaceful Visit”
I found the hotel a very pleasant place. The staff nice and very friendly; especially the front desk. I visited in the rainy season so the umbrellas placed at the entrance were most welcomed. I liked the location being away from the center of the city, but I will add that the walk to and from the main part of the city was a bit far. The sidewalks on the main road were a bit slippery as they are covered with moss. The shoes I chose to wear made it difficult on some parts and I had to walk slow as not to slip and fall. So, I caution anyone with walking dislikes, the distance might be a challenge. A second comment is breakfast is only offered; there is no lunch or dinner. The breakfast was nice, home-style; limited to a set order of eggs and bacon with toast/croissants, yogurt and fruit. I hope my comments won't discourage you from choosing this really unique place; it may be what you are looking for; definitely relaxing and a touch of history.
Clean fresh rooms, very helpful staff, great location. ”
Really enjoyed the stay in the Mandala Hotel, really easy to communicate with staff prior to arriving and nothing was too much trouble. They recommended a great driver as well. Airport pickup was easy. Only thing different from advertised was that the restaurant that services the hotel had just closed down. Didn't matter as we would have eaten out anyway. But effected the standard of the breakfast and that was a bit disappointing. Overall - great stay.
Peaceful Setting - Slow Internet”
I've stayed here a few times and have the same experience (and room). Biggest problem for me is the slow internet, but could be a Laos issue. Sometimes some problems with the room (water stops, internet stops) but usually resolved. I always get placed in room behind restaurant which can be painful as it is the staff's main walking area. Everybody friendly. Restaurant is a bit fancy for me as a solo traveler and tend to avoid the lunch/dinner as it is a set 3-course menu.
Good stay and good price”
The location was not too far from the main street, but does require some walking. The hotel rooms were nice and comfortable. We had a broken aircon but they immediate opted to change us to the big suite instead, which was nice on their part.
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely boutique hotel. The room was as requested, well maintained gardens to relax and escape the noise of the city. Within walking distance of the Mekong river and the night markets. Would happily stay here again.
Tranquil boutique hotel with potential”
The Mandala is a bit away from the main center of Vientiane, which makes it an ideal place for people looking for a quiet, tranquil oasis in Vientiane city center. The restaurant is supposedly one of the best in town and it was fully booked on each of the days we were there, but we didn't try it as it serves only Western food. It is a pity that the hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, even though the garden estate would be large enough to accommodate one. It is also unfortunate that the Deluxe rooms are on the ground floor, just behind the restaurant, with little views, giving the impression of being locked up in a courtyard. Therefore, the standard rooms in the main building (a colonial-style old house) would be a better choice.
tranquail adobe in Vientiane central”
Mandala was everything I expected and more. Upon arrival (we arrived around 10AM), I was delighthed to find that our room was already ready for us and we could immediately check in. The staff we extremely helpful in giving us directions and tips on what to do and how to get around. The guard uncle was ever so kind to help us with small change for the tuk-tuk a couple of times. Most of all, Mandala Boutique Hotel is an impressive tranquil retreat right in a central location of Vientiane and you could spend hours out on the verandah, exploring the grand bungalow or sitting under the Frangipani trees soaking up the afternoon sun. Definitely ticks all the boxes for me!
