Interesting...
Very unique hotel located on a dirty riverbank. Its in a out of the way location and very dark at night doesnt feel very safe. The room was nice enough and balcony opened to the river which was quite nice but unless you want a really unique experience and only plan to stay for one night, I wouldnt recommend. The staff spoke very little enqlish and the internet didnt work so it was very difficult to plan our onward journey or even work out where we were.

Not great :(
Pretty aweful stay unfortunately. Construction and piles of building materials all over the boat. Shower/ tap water was yellow and barely warm. Very noisey - could hear every chair scrape, door close, foot step and motor boats all night long. The power went out many times through our stay and the wifi seldom worked. The restaurant staff just stared at us the whole time we were eating, very uncomfortable. Dinner food was excellent, very cheap and very tasty but breakfast was not good! The front desk staff were friendly but unknoweldgable- didn't know simple things like how the lights in the room worked, how far away the airport is, etc. The area around the hotel is essentially a shanty town with lots of squatter, shacks and washing drying. Sitting out on the deck over-looking the river was nice.

A unique experience
We really enjoyed our stay here. We were one of only three rooms booked but other people came on board for the sunset cruise up the Irrawaddy which was fantastic. They have a buffet dinner for the walk on passengers which they have to pay for, so be careful if you are sleeping overnight you do not have to pay, you can eat later. The room is beautifully appointed with everything you need and the view from the verandah is lovely. A little caution that staff have very little English. The artwork in the hall is fantastic too! I would definitely stay again.

Acceptable
Room too cramped, pillow too hard, not given room key. Needed reception to open room door each time. Could hear neighbors talk, snore etc, no real privacy. Service in restaurant very basic.

Very noisy hotel located 6 KM away from central Mandalay
We had a very disappointing stay A very noisy hotel ! The staff don't speak English and the boat is located amongst slums approximately 6 KM away from the City (differs from what the website says - 3 KM) The motor boats with loud engines run the entire day/night, if you are located on the first floor you hear the restaurant wooden floors creaking the entire day (until 10 PM). We had a festival happening during our stay and heard loud music from the opposite shore which started at 4 AM and went on until late at night. I'd recommend hotels down 84th street. Its not easy to find taxis around the outer skirts of Mandalay.

A hotel on water. Something a little different.
We had one night to spend in Mandalay so we booked Karaweik Mobile Hotel. Its an amazing looking Hotel/Boat. You will take some great pictures. Our room was large but water was either hot or cold and wifi acceptable. The location is terrific for the one night we were in town. It is on the river and away from the main city. It allowed us to walk along the side road and take some nice picture of the local people. The breakfast was ok but the evening dining food was very good. We waited for it but it was worth it. Compliments to the chef. Sundowners on the deck to watch the sun set was a bonus. Not wheelchair friendly and take some spray for mozzies also the staffs English needs some work but that will come the more the tourist arrive. Try it, you'll like it.

terrible shame could be great but isnt!
No one seems to be on charge of this hotel. The staff are very sweet but without a clue. We had a large corner cabin behind the staff had their breakfast and had fun. Nice but not for a guest really. Laundry left piled in communal areas. Restaurant a muddle and mess. Food was good. Our room had many problems lights that wouldn't turn off water straight from the river and a safe that got stuck closed due to the lack of a new battery. It's a real mess. Shame as the river views the potential of the boat it could be so good. I think the owner needs to find a really good manager to sort this place out.

Choose other hotel
Not at all special,no character, dirty overall. Rooms were small, not even enough space for a luggage, towels were smelly, power cut off many times,on off. Was leaking water on the floor, after a big rainy night. Breakfast was a joke and both morning we share with wedding party were really loud music start 8-9am.
