Super nice staffs!”

I've had a wonderful stay in Mandarin Hotel. I checked in on my birthday itself and the staff was very attentive to even notice it and wished me. We checked out the next day to go Kundasang and requested to be in the same room when we check in after coming back from the trip. No problem at all with that, they even remembered us and our request regarding the same room. On top of that, I was greeted with another birthday wish by the manager of the hotel (I assume), whom was not there when I first checked in. It's the little things that made my day during my stay in Mandarin Hotel. Free airport shuttle and a very convenient location for anything! Food, pharmacy, banks, etc. - u name it! There's no private car parks by the hotel but do not worry, there are plenty of parking lots in Gaya Street or the streets nearby. You might just have to park further and walk if you encounter a busy day for the city. No parking on Gaya street during Sunday as there's a morning market set up during that day, so just take note of that but I'm sure the hotel staffs will warn you about that beforehand. Do check out the market if you have the chance - an opportunity not to be missed!

Friendly and Nice Staff”

We would highly recommend Mandarin Hotel to stay in Kota Kinabalu. Booked deluxe without window but get free upgrade to deluxe with window. Spacious and clean room, modern design, big bathroom with strong and hot shower. Staff are friendly greet and smile every time we pass by lobby. Free pick up service to airport with luxury MPV. Strategic location at Gaya Street, walking distance to a lot of famous restaurant, waterfront and local market. We enjoy our stay much.

Near everywhere, clean, nice facilities”

The room is very good. House keeping is done daily with refills of everything you need. We chose the one with no windows which is a good idea since Gaya Street is a busy place during Sunday or whenever there's an event in the plaza or the city hall. Two things that really made me fall in love with Mandarin: the bed and the bathroom. I just love how comfortable the bed and the pillows are. The bathroom is very spacious with hot and cold shower. Location of the hotel is good since it's a walking distance with everything. Staffs are very accomodating. They help out the best way they can. All in all, Mandarin Hotel is highly recommended.

A+ Staff; Superb Cleanliness”

One of my favorite hotels in my SE Asia trip. The location was perfect, right on Gaya Street which is close to all the action. The Sunday market is just outside the hotel. The room was dust free and was cleaned every time we go out! Even twice a day on days we went out twice. You could go out to have lunch and come back to a clean room with new towels etc. Then go out for dinner and they'll clean your room again. It was amazing! I've never seen another hotel do that. They're really particular with cleanliness. Bathroom was PERFECT. Shower was amazing and toiletries were complete. One of my favorite things was the staff!!! I stayed there on the week of my birthday. I didn't tell any of them but they must have seen from my passport. Everyone greeted me Happy Birthday. It was a nice personal touch! I appreciate it. I definitely recommend Mandarin Hotel to everyone!!! I will surely stay again when I visit KK in the future!

Excellent service”

My cousin and I stayed in Mandarin for 5 days. The service was excellent! Staff were friendly and accommodating. They went beyond expectation! The hotel is conveniently located along Gaya street. Most establishments are just walking distance including Jesselton Point. Our room was huge enough for the money we spent. Their housekeeping consistently cleaned our room for 5 days without prompt. Also, they didn't mind restocking our stuff like water, coffee, tea, slippers! It was all provided! Splendid job once again! There were no facilities though but if you're looking for a decent hotel with a good location and do not mind skipping on the usual hotel facilities then Mandarin is for you! Staff worth mentioning: michelle, nurul, grace and another Filipina lady who brought us to the market with her personal vehicle. The manager, Henry was equally friendly!

Friendly and Efficient”

The Mandarin Hotel is ideally located off Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu. It is a great location, despite the rather loud music from the street, which invades the room. This may, or may not, depending on your taste in music, be a good thing. Space is limited in this hotel. The rooms are small and the corridor is extremely narrow and dark, to the extent that I felt uncomfortable in it. The staff are friendly and efficient, as well as being very polite. I felt as if I was being welcomed into a home. Would I stay here again? Yes because of the location and the hospitality. An added bonus was the free transport to the airport.

Helpful staff”

I stayed this hotel for 2 nights. I really enjoyed Saturday night market and Sunday market which was started from right beside the hotel (Jalan Gaya). The room size was just right for solo traveler like me. However, the floor was a bit dirty.. this can be improved. The hotel also offered free shuttle service to the airport. The reception will listen your concerns/questions and will help you immediately. Will stay again if I visit Kota Kinabalu again.

Smack in the middle of town”

This hotel is one of the best location you can stay in Kota Kinabalu town. It is located in the heart of the town and at the most happening Gaya street with walking distance to famous food, tourist spot and all the amenities around it. The best part is the most happening Sunday market is right in front of the hotel entrance and around it making it so convenient. Love it and will stay here again next time. The staffs is very friendly and greet you by your name and will ask you is everything alright and what else they can assist. Thumbs up for this simple and yet conducive hotel.

Great location to explore KK”

This hotel is located at the entrance of the Gaya street and opposite to the airport bus stop, which makes it easy to find and access. Although there is no restaurant inside the hotel, finding delicious local food won't be an issue since there are dozens of seafood restaurants and food stalls within walking distance. Even if you want to do some shopping, supermarket and shopping mall (Suria) are at a stone-throw-distance. The front desk staffs are warm, friendly and helpful. Although the elevator is a bit small, corridor a bit narrow, room size a bit compact and noiseproof is quite thorough...the bath room is quite spacious and clean, bath water hot and strong, room is cleaned thoroughly everyday, all these have compansated for the above shortcomings. If you are travelling light and just look for a place for night sleep. Mandarin Hotel would be a good choice.

Very Helpful and Friendly Staffs”

Needed a place to crash just for a night. Booked the hotel an hour before checking in and still got it. The best thing about this hotel is that the staffs were very helpful and friendly. It's located next to DBKK (Kota Kinabalu City Council) which means it is at the heart of everything. Next to DBKK is the Bus Terminal. Walk out of the hotel, it's Gaya Street. A little further down is Centre Point. The Philippines Market is near as well. Suria and Jesselton Point is in 10-15 minutes by foot. There's also a complimentary free ride to the airport every day on the hotel. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel in Kota Kinabaru”

We stayed here for one night. It's our last night in KK, and we had a tour to Weston in the afternoon we checked in. We arrived at Mandarin Hotel at 1 pm and requested for leaving luggage first. Surprisingly, our room was ready so we could have early check-in. This is not routine but I felt we were lucky and we could have a break before our tour. On the next day, our flight was quite early so we needed to check out at around 4 am. The night shift staff was friendly and kindly helped us call a Grab car to the airport. In conclusion, this is a very nice and valuable hotel with clean and comfortable room and friendly staff. We will stay here again when we come to KK again.

This hotel is very nice, and located at the center of the Kota Kinabalu town. There are many restaurants within walking distance, also shopping mall and the famous Philipino market. A pleasure to stay here although the room is a bit small as compared to the same category in another hotel.

Excellent Budget Hotel!”

As this is my first solo trip, I wished to find a place that is safer to stay. The hotel is located at the centre of Gaya and I really love the strategic location. Is easy accessible to the famous Hawker centres like Yee Fung laksa, Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh and etc. Moreover, other tourist hotspot like central market, filipino market, Centrepoint mall and Suria mall is all walkable within 10minutes. The room itself is clean and tidy. Certain parts especially the corner of window usually dusty but this hotel is not! I am really impress that the way they maintain the cleanliness of the room. Moreover, all the necessary facilities like hairdryer and safety box are provided. And I love the wifi too! Is fast! Just the water heater may take a while to warm up. Not forget to mention about their services. They do provide free transport to airport. Just book one day ahead with the receptionist. Dun worry, the staffs are very polite and friendly! On the day I check out, they even drop me a goodbye message! What a surprise! If you ask me to rate the hotel and I would like to rate it 10/10. With such a Budget price, the service that they provided is totally excellent! Believe me, you wouldn’t regret if you choose to stay here!

Very nice hotel and great location.”

It was good to stay at the Mandarin Hotel. The hotel is located in a nice area and it is close to everything. Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was that it was loud. Hotel room wall was thin and I could hear some noise (probably closing doors) and Karaoke from outside of the hotel. I could handle the noise but if you are looking for someplace to relax with silence, it might not be a suitable hotel for you.

Hotel staffs were friendly & helpful!”

Although, we had just a 2 nights' stay in a Superior Room with King Bed, everything was great. We were in Rm#9102 and I loved the layout of the room, and it was renovated recently. Clean and with the basic amenities. Plenty of local Chinese & Malay coffee shops around this area, within walking distance. Overall, we want to thank all staffs, especially the Front Desk ladies, who had received us warmly and helped us in many ways. Good Job! We will return in the near future & stay in Mandarin Hotel again.

Nice hotel friendly staff clean room ”

As usual very good experience. I used to opt for this often in past few years after its renovation, when I don't get the rooms in nearby 4star hotel. This time I had to split the stay between Horizon and Mandarin. Surprisingly Mandarin turned out to be so great with free airport transfer, room cleaning even when I was out, with refill of water, tea making packets, towels. Its don even for a night stay, when I had exactly opposite, a poor service from nearby Horizon. If you are looking for a decent clean hotel within budget ( No breakfast here), then I say go to mandarin. Many nearby are old ones, except few but bit far away from main street. Very friendly staff and helpful manager. Great experience.

Great Central KK stay”

The Mandarin is a great budget hotel in downtown KK and is just a 2 min walk from the airport buses and mini vans to other destinations in Sabah. Great position and everything works, good WiFi, soft beds and an excellent bathroom and the staff are friendly and helpful. A short walk from the pier and markets and has a great food street straight behind. A recommended hotel for central KK without the luxury tag of the nearby starred hotels.

i am so satisfying with Mandarin Hotel. Overall it is well maintained, and feeling cozy due to the wallpaper. Besides, the water power for showering is good too even i am staying at level 4 (total 6 level in this hotel). Certainly i will come back to this hotel and i am highly recommend to other travelers. One last thing, the receptionist staff is very friendly and polite. They great us everytime we walk in or out regardless the time.
